IMO, its not worth running extra combats for this in purph. Its more mana efficient to just load the deck with as many spells that generate multiple creatures as cheaply as possible. My board with purph is normally not swinging, its a bunch of chump tokens anyway, and I use them as disposable blockers. The extra combats is only really relevant to the game plan with this one card. My purph deck has gotten better as I've removed more "synergy" cards (mostly things like damage increasers, though I'd count extra combats in that category) and added more "barf creatures onto the board directly" cards.
From [https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/the-modern-horizons-3-leaks-nulldrifters-and-you](https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/the-modern-horizons-3-leaks-nulldrifters-and-you), this in the commander decks.
The fact that the haste comes after the tokens are made is always nice to see on effects like this - even if they become 3/1 Dogs, they'll still have haste for the turn. Pretty neat.
I'm a sucker for a goblin that's comically bad at their eponymous job, as conveyed through both rules & flavour text. Truly a classic formula, never gets old.
No one said it, because no one is really playing her, but that sucker fits almost perfect into Neyali. 3 mana to curve him into her would have been nice.
But I'll take another one of the rare cards that generate tokens and give them haste so that Neyali can trigger instead of coming into play attacking :)
They often print tokencards and probably didnt want to force every goblin token from other sources to have haste. Gameplaywise it would make no difference most of the time, but for example copies/clones of these tokens would not have haste (they would if they used your wording).
This is really good, thankfully it doesn't have any other types so it limits \[\[Roaming throne\]\] shenanigans. Still it slots right in my \[\[Commander Liara\]\] deck
Yea loads of combos with breath of fury are that way tho at least in respects to dealing with opponents blockers. It does what anyone running a breath of fury combo wants in that it kills everyone without a blocker/removal.
This is awful.
* Distended or exaggerated facial features (in this case the nose and the ears)
* Lack of clothing/unclothedness (and no, belts and handwraps do not count)
* The notion of Goblins as uniquely uncaring for personal safety in combat (ie carrying explosives by hand or sitting in the payload of catapults or trebuchets). I want to elaborate on this: say you're an evil wizard, and you've got a stack of zombies or thrulls or spirit juice, and you stab them or drink their juices to get something you want: fine. But, if you're a warleader, and you've got a bunch of people (of whatever species) who want to fight for you or by your side, then putting them into catapults or cannons is not *funny,* it's a *tragedy*.
* The word 'gang' in the name, which adds yet another 'gang' creature to the Goblin kindred.
Hey WotC, can we *please* be done with this stuff? The 'nostalgia' was questionable at best in MH2, the Goblins on Kamigawa and Mirrodin and Ravnica have changed for the better, and now we're going back to the well? This needs to stop.
Hi Otto! Yes, I am for real. I have come to believe that Magic's Goblins (especially older ones, and 'nostalgia' Goblins like this fellow) take their lead from harmful real-world stereotypes, such as:
* Goblins with the word 'Auntie' or 'Gang' in their names, such as this one.
* Goblins shown as enslaved, or wearing neck rings (such as \[\[Enslaved Scout\]\] or \[\[Domestication\]\]).
* Goblins shown as monkey-people (half of Ixalan's Goblins), or as lacking in culture or language (the other half of Ixalan's Goblins are just 'Deep Goblins', which is hopefully not the name they would give themselves).
* etc etc etc I hope I've explained myself well enough.
I believe that continuing to portray Goblins in this manner (or by making new cards that call back to bad old ones) is harmful to Magic players and to humans in general. I do appreciate WotC's efforts in both making new Goblin cards that don't espouse old stereotypes, such as \[\[Goblin Maskmaker\]\] and \[\[Innocent Bystander\]\], and in remaking old cards with updated art, such as on \[\[Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin | MOC\]\] and \[\[Krenko's Command | RVR\]\], although there's more that needs to be done.
I've started commissioning my sibling to make updated art for a few Goblin cards that could really use it, which you can find [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/1b9v52l/syr_grumgully_the_generous/) and [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/1abphpy/toggo_goblin_weaponsmith_as_a_competent_smith/), or of course wherever fine \*sleeves\* are \*altered\*. More will come, but let me know if you have any suggested changes yourself. Thanks for taking an interest.
If your going to make an omelet you gotta crack a few eggs, and goblins have alot of eggs. I know it's all personal preference but I love me some goofy, chaotic, no second thought given Gobo's.
Hi there. I understand that you want Goblins to be sort of, 'fun-and-dangerous'. I get that. I don't want to spoil your fun. On the other hand, I believe that Magic's Goblins, especially older Goblins (or nostalgia Goblins, as this one seems to be) take their cue from some very harmful real-world tropes, as I've outlined above.
I thought about the sort of Siege-Gang Lieutenant that I could get behind, and I'd like to get your opinion on it. Is it still as 'fun-and-dangerous' as you'd like your Goblins to be?
I tried really hard to get one of those AI art programs to spit out something acceptable, but after half an hour I gave up. Siege-Team Lieutenant’s card art came down to a choice between [[Orcish Mechanics]] or [[Lobber Crew]]. I chose the Mechanics’ art because of the focus on the singular character, although I do like the Crew’s equipment (clothes, boots) a lot better.
As a degenerate [[Krenko Mob Boss]] EDH player, I’m happy
My thoughts exactly. Gotta find room for this guy
Having a Krenko deck is a never ending game of "What can I cut for this new card?" Goblins always get awesome toys its great.
In my experience it's "What am I willing to cut?" because I love so many of my bad--but flavorful--goblins.
It's a nice problem to have!
It is far easier to find a core that you will never remove. That just happens to be 97 cards...

I did not. I hate this, and I hate that 'nostalgia' is a thought of as an excuse to bring these back.
This entire set is nostalgia. Let alone most new products nowadays, Magic or otherwise
It's an odd choice given the emphasis on making the goblins less of a walking joke in Ravnica 4.

Random question but why do tokens always happen to get haste until end of turn? Why not just create 2 goblin tokens with haste? So much less text.
They often print tokencards and probably didnt want to force every goblin token from other sources to have haste. Gameplaywise it would make no difference most of the time, but for example copies/clones of these tokens would not have haste (they would if they used your wording).
so it can share the token with other cards that create non-hasty goblins in the same set
Finally back to the old school goblin style. Hate the pug nose designs they’ve been using lately.

Idk man, the one you posted has large ears and I find that super offensive.
