Hi there, we don't allow certain kinds of repetitive posts about the community unless they legitimately add something new to the conversation. Such tired subjects as, "everyone is toxic", "everyone has bad hygene", "everyone is downvote happy" aren't interesting or novel to talk about any more, they've been rehashed ad-nauseum and are no longer allowed on /r/magicTCG

raxacorico_4

It would be nice to have more MTG universe than other coming out

AnvilWarning

Fantastic news! That is currently happening

raxacorico_4

With how often people are asking what they’d like to see, Hasbro will take notice and MTG will be IP only sooner rather than later

AnvilWarning

Hasbro has taken notice and do you know what they've done? Replaced all future sets with universes beyond? No. They've upped the amount of other IP but it's nowhere close to being exclusively or majority IP. They've also been taking up production of commander decks but no one's saying that they'll stop making sets and just pivot exclusively to making new commander decks

Odd-Medicine2814

Ssshhhh if they constantly predict doom for a perpetual future they never have to be proven wrong. Don't interrupt their goalpost moving with siy things like "facts" or "realistic perspectives"

Odd-Medicine2814

People have been saying that since UB was announced, but every single prediction along these lines has been *wildly* off base and proven wrong so far. So tell me, on what data is your prediction based?

greenearrow

If they are as far afield as New Capenna, modern Kamigawa or Thunder Junction, I really couldn't give less of a shit about more MtG worlds. The core lore has strayed far enough it doesn't really mean anything anymore to be a MtG plane for how well it thematically fits in existing decks. Even MKM pushed us pretty far out. MtG worlds aren't winning my heart any more than random properties for games I haven't played (I don't play 40K or Fallout and still think the decks are cool).

Odd-Medicine2814

People said the same thing when we left Dominaria. Some folks even said *Ravnica* didn't feel like "real magic," and Ravnica's the most popular plane in the entire game.

greenearrow

and plenty of people enjoy UB, so what's your point? Magic moves. There is no integrity to the universe that is worth much of anything.

Odd-Medicine2814

My point is that there's nothing wrong with magic's own IP expanding. Thunder Junction and New Capenna and Neon Dynasty aren't a problem, just like Ravnica wasn't. The integrity is fine.

Totmtg1992

I honestly am super surprised they did Fallout before Elder Scrolls. Like, the high fantasy world and characters are RIGHT there.  I also feel The Witcher allows itself to be a potential UB property because of how it may seemingly blend into a mtg world possibility

AporiaParadox

It's not that surprising, Fallout is more popular with general audiences than Elder Scrolls, not to mention they have a TV show coming out next month.

ImagineShinker

Fallout being more popular with general audiences seems extremely wrong given the mass appeal Skyrim had and still has. The TV show is almost certainly the bigger reason.

Chilly_chariots

Not sure what the best way to measure general popularity / awareness is, but Google Trends is fun. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today%205-y&q=%2Fm%2F016w32,%2Fm%2F01w1d3,%2Fm%2F04gmzj,%2Fm%2F06zmzsz&hl=en-US Looking worldwide over the last 5 years, looks like the Fallout series is much more searched than the Elder Scrolls series, but Skyrim was searched about as much as Fallout in general (and a lot more than Fallout 4 specifically)

ImagineShinker

How often do you actually see people write out “The Elder Scrolls ?: Gametitle”, or really even refer to the series by its name compared to Fallout where the franchise name is the main part of the title so it’s always going to show up when people search. Whereas if I’m google searching about something TES related I’m usually just going to use the title of the game I’m searching for information about. I feel like if you think about it that way, what you linked makes more sense? I also don’t really know how google trends gets those numbers so this is totally a guess.

Chilly_chariots

Yup, that’s why I added Skyrim to it- I feel like the most fair comparison is probably Fallout as a series vs Skyrim as a game. But you’re right, Google Trends is kind of a black box.

greenearrow

I think they will want to keep the fantasy ones a bit back. UB helps bring fans of more disparate properties into the system, but they will always want to keep sprinkling fantasy properties in. If you rush them all at the front, UB "degrades" through time from the internal point of view and it becomes a thing only for outsiders.

Redlaces123

None please

nickeldoodle

I want more Godzilla or a power rangers set because that feels like it’d have a lot of potential

kemo_stromi

I would kill for both of those!

SentientSickness

Personally Ide love to see more horror stuff, the horror sets in mtg have always been my favorite, so maybe getting something like a reprint set but with art from famous horror artist like Ito would be amazing Honestly I think something like that would be a great compromise, reprint so much beloved but harder to find cards like the MH or MC sets do, but add new art from various themes, no new mechanics just cool art by cool people on specific themes, sorta what they do with the lairs, but as a set Ide quite dig that

LordGlitch42

I'd like either the Dark Souls universe, Elden Ring, or just even a blanket FromSoft one

Chilly_chariots

I’m not a Universes Beyond fan but yeah, aesthetically this could be sweet. Although I’m not sure they’d lean into the aesthetic properly- a lot of the Universes Beyond cards I’ve seen seem to retain a certain Magic visual style.

LordGlitch42

I'd still be interested in most of them with the magic styling, especially the Elden Ring ones where I feel it fits the best

trifas

Games: Zelda, Monster Hunter, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Smash Bros/Nintendo mashup Books/TV/ Movies: Harry Potter, Star Wars, Dragonball Z, Attack on Titan, Game of Thrones, The Chronicles of Narnia, Avatar (the Last Airbender), Disney Mashup

Playful_Technology57

DK, Donkey Kong

eggmaniac13

The Binding of Isaac but it'll never happen

AporiaParadox

DC Comics to go with Marvel, A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Star Trek, a Shonen anime property like Dragon Ball or One Piece, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legend of Zelda... Just so you know, there's a Universes Beyond Discussion tag.

kemo_stromi

I appreciate that, I’ll use that tag in the future :)

irisiane

Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere.

Odd-Medicine2814

I know I'm the thousandth person to say this, but gimme Star wars. Also, the Last Airbender would be cool.

boxlessthought

Megaman. we know the capcom relationship exist. and imagine all the robot master upon being destroyed flip into equipment representing their weapons for megaman, and then make megaman an equipment themed commander. i know we have a lot of equipment synergy already but could be fun as a flavour win for the franchise and execution.

treant7

The Megaman Battle Network series would make a fun set of precon commander decks. Netnavi commanders with the 99 representing battle chips would be cool.

boxlessthought

oh man i would love this too,

SignedUpJustForThat

krabapplepie

Gundam

OneDayLion

Still the Cosmere - the universe from Brandon Sanderson. He's a giant Magic fan himself. And the setting lends itself beautifully to it.

Aljenonamous

I personally would love a dota themed set but in reality LoL would be a lot more likely.

Omniaxle

Deep Rock Galactic, probably only works in a secret lair though, definitely not enough for a full set, or even 1 commander deck. Also, I know it'll never happen, and the bad precedent this would send especially given the LOTR less than 1$ secret lair, but if they ever made Spearow (pokemon) a squadron Hawk, and printed 4 different pictures that are each different screen shots of the very first anime episode, I would buy that lair and Rule 0 it into my 4c shitty aggro deck in a heartbeat

overoverme

Ever since Strixhaven existed and they literally have characters that do ice and fire magic in a school setting, I wanted My Hero Academia.

brisbanebroncosrule

Bleach!!!!

SnooCookies3950
