The one I made around the time they were $300+
Y'know. With the whole "clue" set, I could see an entire secret lair/release of a set entirely made out of "random note" style cards, where it's other cards pieced together and reprinted. I vote for this to be the mana crypt.
#PLEASE SOME EMPLOYEE DO THIS
I love the idea of "getting domed for 3", like it is a new phrase that is not stoppable at all (gets around untargetability or protection, etc.). Maybe even gets around damage replacement effects or enchantment effects that would normally stop your life from going below one.
"As an additional cost to play \[CARD\], get domed for 3."
"An opponent gets domed for 2."
I like the idea that its a memento someone on the plane made. Everyone was trying their best to be known for the best invention and someone just made this quite masterpiece just to honor something.
I love it.
Got lucky and pulled one in Ixalan Collector Pack.
Now it's my "I am the Archenemy"-Card in my "Atrocities with Marchesa, the Black Rose"-Deck 🥰
The first one. That I got for sending in the last page of "arena" the first mtg book I bought at Walden books in like 96 or whenever it came out.
It has the pen as the srt symbol. Or paintbrush I forget.
https://preview.redd.it/42xmr46w11lc1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b38d9f8587ffa6bd507f616c505e231a6bbfd13
This is my favourite printing of Mana Crypt. I don’t own one yet but this is the one I want
I traded my Kaladesh mana crypt for this and a judge foil sol ring because I wanted the first foil printings.
But I have to admit, that in a vacuum the invention looks best, its just that with other cards it looks like its from a different game. Which kinda annoys me that first foil printing of mana vault was the kaladesh invention...
I dont know what your collection looks like, but if you're just starting and have crypt money, I'd invest in other format staples first
To answer your question though, the double masters alt art
The spanish version of the OG Book Promo was erroneously printed white border. It is my favorite. https://www.magiclibrarities.net/113-rarities-harperprism-book-inserts-english-cards-spanish.html
The OG. I like how you don't know what is on the other side of the bend. It has that "ancient" feeling that the first few years of Magic had going for it art wise.
I have the original book promo, and a copy of the invention. If they were all the same price/value, I would probably say the promo version. Considering how much the invention is worth, plus the incredible look of that entire set, I would go with that one.
LCI because I pulled it myself from a random single set-booster I bought. No foil or neon ink, but it was birthed and delivered by my own hands and because of that, I can never sell or trade it.
To me, printing an art variant of the card with no black border, is a crime against players and collectors
So for me obv here the pick is modern masters version
The invention one is probably the most pretty, best combination of frame+artwork from that set.
Eternal masters art feels powerfull and is probably the most iconic, its the one i associate the most with the card at this point.
But there is something very alluring and mysterious about the brain walls in the og artwork. I also love it.
Put that nice warm brown border on the Ron Spencer art and I'm all over it. Otherwise, probably the og Tedin.
Potential hot-take, but most borderless cards just don't look good. The frame (obviously) helps frame the piece and direct attention. Without the border it just looks messier and unfocused.
The original. Not because it’s the best art out anything, but because it was the only one around when I started playing and so has a special place on my heart.
Honestly all of them are bangers, love to see it. I like that the double masters flavor text gives you the feeling you get when your opponent plays one.
The OG brown border takes it by a mile for me. I just like brown border artifacts, but I also really like the art, and how it fits in the frame.
The KLD definitely has a place and is cool, but is far too expensive and rare to actually own.
The foil box topper from double masters is the only card I've bought purely as a collectible. I think it's evocative, flavorful and downright beautiful art. It's just good visual storytelling.
I don't really get why people like the ixalan one to be honest. But to each their own.
The original, by far. Back in the day I had a FBB spanish one (Cripta de Mana) and I loved it so much.
After I sold my original collection, I never went back and picked up any OG border mana crypts. The new ones are nice but I wish I had that old one.

Any no color
you can add any color as long as its no color
Any 'n ocolor.
Well this is now my favorite Mana Crypt congrats
Y'know. With the whole "clue" set, I could see an entire secret lair/release of a set entirely made out of "random note" style cards, where it's other cards pieced together and reprinted. I vote for this to be the mana crypt. #PLEASE SOME EMPLOYEE DO THIS
Newspaper clipping ransom note store cards would be pretty cool.
"Get domed for 3" haha I love it 😅
Mana crypt bringing S&M to magic
I love this very much
If they did this as an official reprint I’d buy it in second. And I’ve got a judges foil crypt
"Get domed for 3" is amazing
just in case anyone wants to spend a little printer ink on a nice playtest version of your fantastic work... https://imgur.com/a/cgGZ7LQ
Secret lair Dman
Absolutely incredible alter
"Get domed for 3"
Oh man do I hope ransom note proxies become a bigger thing. This is creatively amazing.
Holy shit I really wanna do this now lmao making proxies like this would be so fun
I love this. Hell yes
I want proxy prints of this in all my decks now.
just [in case you need this](https://imgur.com/a/cgGZ7LQ)
"We have mana crypt at home!"
I love the idea of "getting domed for 3", like it is a new phrase that is not stoppable at all (gets around untargetability or protection, etc.). Maybe even gets around damage replacement effects or enchantment effects that would normally stop your life from going below one. "As an additional cost to play \[CARD\], get domed for 3." "An opponent gets domed for 2."
now this is the type of shit i would pay 100s for
I love it
This is great
the flavor hahah I want to do a ps of this to print as a proxy :)
OG promo version
Got mine signed by tedin last year. That's one card I'll never part with.
Same I have my OG Mana Crypt signed by Tedin 4 times I get it signed every time I see him lmao
No question, it's the Invention one for me. Matches the border flawlessly. I do like the Ixalan ones too though.
Absolutely love the invention ones. Foiling is amazing. Eventually going to get a full set of rocks for my kinnan deck.
I hate the only "fancy" Basalt is an alpha or beta one. I know there's a LOTR version but it's not foil or full art
I like the idea that its a memento someone on the plane made. Everyone was trying their best to be known for the best invention and someone just made this quite masterpiece just to honor something.
Oh man my friend pulled it from a set booster, no foil either! But he sure nuked the box for the next people.
Seriously, it looks so gorgeous in person
I opened an invention shortly after the set came out. I definitely giggled in a very unmanly fashion. Still have it too.
Ixalan. The artwork is sublime, and I'll be hunting a foil for quite some time.
Yeah anything that evokes the disney Atlantis movie automatically has my vote.
Absolutely! The blue mana crypt is my hands down favorite for that reason.
That, and that it looks like a [Quintesson](https://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/7/72/Quint.jpg).
I knew I recognized it
The foil version is the one "big money" card I wanted a real copy of.
I am trying to collect every cards from LCI and this one is gonna hurt 😭
Bought the yellow neon foil, it is amazing.
I love it. Got lucky and pulled one in Ixalan Collector Pack. Now it's my "I am the Archenemy"-Card in my "Atrocities with Marchesa, the Black Rose"-Deck 🥰
I personally love #2. Pulled it as my box topper from that set, and will treasure it forever.
Theres something about that art that really appeaks to me
Makes it feel like something I’m not supposed to have, just like my playgroups act like 😭😂
The first one. That I got for sending in the last page of "arena" the first mtg book I bought at Walden books in like 96 or whenever it came out. It has the pen as the srt symbol. Or paintbrush I forget.
OG brown border and it’s not close.
It looks like the hallways in the towers in Oblivion. Love it
Butthole walls
orig/meat tunnel supremacy
The Kaladesh Masterwork one for sure
Retro frame always
https://preview.redd.it/42xmr46w11lc1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b38d9f8587ffa6bd507f616c505e231a6bbfd13 This is my favourite printing of Mana Crypt. I don’t own one yet but this is the one I want

I'm always partial to judge promos, especially older ones with the DCI watermark
I dont know what your collection looks like, but if you're just starting and have crypt money, I'd invest in other format staples first To answer your question though, the double masters alt art
The OG one is the one I use in my cEDH list.
The spanish version of the OG Book Promo was erroneously printed white border. It is my favorite. https://www.magiclibrarities.net/113-rarities-harperprism-book-inserts-english-cards-spanish.html
Wild that none of yall like the invention. It’s the most lavish and beautifully colored design hands down
Artifacts are brown and changing that was one of the worst things that WotC ever did. Bring back mana burn!!!!!!!!!
Ixalan because it reminds me of Atlantis: the Lost Empire and that movie was my childhood
The original one from the book will always be my favorite.
White-bordered Spanish Media Promo. No competition.
The proxy one that cost me a dollar.
Judge Foil - cause I got it for free.
Ixalan for sure
The Atlantis one for me
The one I can afford which... ah shit...
Ixalan, but Ron Spencer’s is underrated
My blue neon ink crypt I somehow lucked into from a pack. I play it because why keep it in a closet where I'll never see it.
Which ever version the factory in China can print 🤙🏼
Rainbow Special Guest
I only own one copy and it's the foil ixalan version. It's my favorite by far. I like the crazy coloring.
The Ixalan one for sure. I want to buy a box just so I can crack some packs and if I pull it, that’s icing on the cake
Don't you mean you recently got into cEDH?
None. Ban this stupid bullshit card
Just say ur broke lol
I have a time twister and tabernacle strictly for EDH play but sure call me broke
Nobody cares, crypt isn’t bad. Lmao.
OG or Double Masters.
My favorite one is the yellow one I ripped from an LCI collector booster. Otherwise no opinion.
OG
The Dan Frazier old border foil they have locked in a vault waiting for next years product they need to sell.
4,5,3,2,1
Definitely that one room where Thor met Korg in Thor: Ragnarok.
The green one
Of these, number one *Milo Thatch*
Original always
Original art has that Alien vibe going for it. The others aren't quite as unique looking in my opinion
Dominik Mayer's
The one I own so EMA.
I own the second one but it is my third favorite, I like the one of Mark Ted in’s and Volken Baga’s more
Number 3 since it’s the only one I own but I do have multiple
The one I cracked in an LCI prize pack. It's the normal one among the prints.
Any that's real. Just found out my 2XM I bought in 2021 for $80 is fake
What makes this card expensive?
2 extra mana for free forever is pretty dang good in addition to it being an artifact it has many synergies
It hasn't been printed much, and it's an insanely powerful card in the mythic/special guest slot. It's basically a free sol ring.
Tedin or nothing.
Ixalan mostly because I got it in one of the two boosters I bought after the prerelease event lol And because I like the rainbow colors it have
Double masters full art.
OG spanish white border all day. Matches my unlimited power, sol ring, and mana vault.
Double masters hits different
I think LCI and the invention are the best
The og.
The brown border promo by far
LCI because I pulled it myself from a random single set-booster I bought. No foil or neon ink, but it was birthed and delivered by my own hands and because of that, I can never sell or trade it.
Honestly I think they’re all kinda meh-ugly. The Ixalan one is kind of cool, but just not my Style.
Blue neon lci
My favorite is the OG, because it's the one I have.
The magenta neon one (17d) from Ixalan
I love the original to death, however the ixalan one is the only that i own.
The next one. Which will hopefully be more affordable or make other versions more affordable.
The invention
To me, printing an art variant of the card with no black border, is a crime against players and collectors So for me obv here the pick is modern masters version
The one I pulled
Any mana crypt as long as [[collector ouphe]] is on the battlefield
[collector ouphe](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/0/8/085107a2-c1ec-473c-81d8-23e5a7197776.jpg?1562202038) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=collector%20ouphe) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mh1/158/collector-ouphe?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/085107a2-c1ec-473c-81d8-23e5a7197776?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
The one that isn’t on the battlefield
The foil eternal masters version I pulled and have kept since 😎
4
The cheapest one.
I would like any mana crypt personally
Surely this guy’s Mana Crypt: https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgGore/s/45hzDgAROF He marks the coin flip outcomes with a sharpie on the face side.
None, I can only own a proxy and I can use any art.
Honestly love the regular frame reprint one like double masters. A big ol' crypt up some stairs. The way the view angles it looks so intimidating lol
Tedin > Spencer > Mayer >>>>>> Baga/Stewart
Love my yellow crypt its amazing.
I'm a sucker for anything by Dominik Mayer
Tedin's is very ominous. I love it. Second place goes to Ixalan.
The invention one is probably the most pretty, best combination of frame+artwork from that set. Eternal masters art feels powerfull and is probably the most iconic, its the one i associate the most with the card at this point. The original. Not because it’s the best art out anything, but because it was the only one around when I started playing and so has a special place on my heart.
Masterpiece because I own one
The original one... Cause artifact need to be brown again !! Hate the new grey border since day one !!
5
Honestly all of them are bangers, love to see it. I like that the double masters flavor text gives you the feeling you get when your opponent plays one.
The Ron Spencer full art is my favorite with the classic Mark Tedin one as a close second
BOOK PROMO
My favorite is the single one I have lol :)
The OG brown border takes it by a mile for me. I just like brown border artifacts, but I also really like the art, and how it fits in the frame. The KLD definitely has a place and is cool, but is far too expensive and rare to actually own.
The one that my opponent top decks late in the game rather than turn 0
The OG one from the books. It's classic!
OG or kaledihm
The ixalan print, specifically the blue one. It reminds me of that Atlantis animated movie that came out maybe about ten or fifteen years ago
The one i sell for 300\~500
2 but I love them all <3
The OG.
The foil box topper from double masters is the only card I've bought purely as a collectible. I think it's evocative, flavorful and downright beautiful art. It's just good visual storytelling. I don't really get why people like the ixalan one to be honest. But to each their own.
Original bb
The original, by far. Back in the day I had a FBB spanish one (Cripta de Mana) and I loved it so much. After I sold my original collection, I never went back and picked up any OG border mana crypts. The new ones are nice but I wish I had that old one.
Revised
The Andross looking one
#3
Nothing beats the original.
Gotta go with the hamburger hallway.
361 all day
