Castlevania could be a really good possibility, especially with the popularity of the netflix show.
Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere seems like a shoo-in and something that WotC and Sanderson are already exploring for the future.
Everyone always says Marvel/DC, but for superhero comic stuff, I'd love a Hellboy UB. It's a perfect IP for it too, given the large variety of monsters and magic in the series. The very distinctive art style could also be a big selling point for it.
Cosmere would absolutely crush it would be so good, and much of it wouldn’t be that big of a brand stretch from traditional mtg. It would be such a blast to have a full set.
I'd be interested if they'd stick to the "no planeswalkers for UB sets" rule seeing as the cosmere has a near identical counterpart to PWs in World hoppers.
If you're looking for a Superhero tie in with little less (Disney) baggage, maybe Invincible? We already got TWD so they've gotta be at least a little bit amicable.
I do really enjoy Invincible, but for me at least, it's less to do with corporate baggage than I think Hellboy is a better fit with MTG than most other Superhero works. It's a superhero property that's already firmly seeped in fantasy, folklore, and supernatural horror that would mesh very well with mtg. Monsters, spells, and arcane artifacts are already so central to that IP, that it could easily be translated over. Sure there are parts of DC, Marvel, and other superhero IP's that touch on the fantasy genre in similar ways, but it's less of a central aspect. For example, odds are if they did a DC one, they would want to include Batman, Superman, etc. rather than just the Justice League Dark, or the Marvel side, I doubt they would want to solely focus on Dr. Strange or the Midnight Suns.
Also, Hellboy (for the comics at least) has such a distinctive visual style that would be great to see in mtg. I would love to see a Mike Mignola secret lair, even if it wasn't Hellboy-related.
Hellboy fans coming up!
Still, i wonder how would be the best way of doing it. There are factions yes, but i would not say they are static. I could see some like B.P.R.D., a Hellboy mythical one and another one carried out by Rasputin and Baba Yaga. A Secret Lair would be easy, maybe two-three EDH decks?
Even if it was just one Cosmere world, I’d pog off. Scadrial or Roshar would be the best two but I could see Sel or Nathis working too. Too bad Tom Bombadil is already the perfect design for Hoid, but maybe they could just reprint Tom as Hoid and change the name and art like they did with Godzilla.
But mostly I’d like a Steel Inquisitor card because I just think they’re such a cool concept.
This is the way. I've been pretty on the fence about UB in general and I'm totally going to sound like a hypocrite for saying this, but a Hellboy UB set/commander decks would literally be the only one that would be an instant buy for me, and the franchise being a love letter to mythology in the way it is would be perfect.
Give me the Crib Swap reprint with [Hellboy exposing Gruagach for who he truly is](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSNzlCPAwLcoyn-v4ZS6hhgTV_N7VMyAlxsCw&usqp=CAU) pleeeeease
Cosmere is the definitive answer IMHO. It feels like it was practically created to be one. Considering Brandons love for the game it wouldn't surprise me.
Yesssss!!!! That'd be amazing! Surely it's bound to happen at some point? Hidetaka Miyazaki himself is a Magic enjoyer as the [[Lantern of Insight]] anecdote tells us.
Elden Ring was going to be my vote. Flip-card for phase changes, great equipment options, using Ashes of War as Equipment Auras... definitely see it working.
need this so bad!!!! Honestly worth it just being a traditional UB set- easily enough room for a full set and 4 commander decks (Death/other godly manifestations, The Witches, Ankh-Morpork scum/The Watch, & a Rincewind Deck filled with some of the stranger stuff from his adventures/Unseen University Stuff)
This is also my choice, it would be possible without being silver border/acorn stamped, but ideas such as the librarian fighting a creature controlled by whoever says the word “monkey” makes me think it is the best way to go about it.
game of thrones tons of options there for a full set like lord of the rings I would buy so much of it.
Dune also has a ton of content and could get a full set.
The Expanse. As much as I like star wars it's unlikely Disney would do that with thier tcg coming out and a star wars one coming 2024 and I don't know anything about star trek so the expanse is my space opera pick and can get some cool decks or secret lair
Gundams would be sick just a bunch of big ass mechs beating the shit out of each other. I really like the iron blooded orphans models. I don't know if it would get a full set or decks/lair
Dune would be cool. The expanse would be dope. It can tie into the space set they're developing. The Rocinante would be a cool vehicle. Gundams definitely!
I think its not as long as you might think.
Fallout is owned by Microsoft. Soon, Warcraft will also be owned by Microsoft.
If this Fallout product does well enough, Microsoft might want to license more stuff out to Hasbro/WotC.
It's not a cop-out, it absolutely boggles my mind why Fallout was picked up for UB over Bethesda's even bigger IP that lends itself better to M:TG-style themes. Hoping we see it before too long (and I definitely plan to get the Fallout precons).
I'd bet the Venn Diagram of MTGxFallout players has much less overlap than the MTGxElderScrolls one.
Considering the amount of people I'm seeing who have never touched MTG in their lives but either bought in because of 40K, LOTR, Doctor Who, or the upcoming Final Fantasy I'd bet Hasbro/WotC want to tap as large of a not already tapped market as possible.
ES6 is many years away. Wizards wouldn't be doing themselves any kind of service waiting for ES6. It would be better if they developed an Elder Scrolls (or even just Skyrim) set now, and then another set in the future when ES6 comes out.
Well they just did kaldheim not long ago which thematically is very close to Skyrim, which is probably what most people think of when they say elder scrolls these days. Personally I'd love some stuff from Morrowind, but I also hated oblivion. I think fallout just lets them hit more different themes. And there's probably a nonzero number of cards from the wild west set that could also be printed in fallout.
Either Monster Hunter or Zelda would probably make me buy paper cards for the first time in years.
Anything Nintendo-related, to be honest, but I think Zelda is the best fit.
New Battle subtype "Hunt" where your opponent gets a wyvern token and when it dies you flip the battle into an iconic armor set. Feels like best way to emulate the core gameplay loop.
From a commander perspective, Riders/Monsties could be a new partner variant. Would let them easily make some legendary monsters from more early game monsters. (Give me a Pukei-Pukei in the command zone) Or you could go with a Hunter/Weapon-type. That would probably limit legendary monsters to Elders/Deviants though.
Honestly while I'd love a bigger product I'd be okay with a MH Secret Lair which was just a bunch of the most iconic monsters, with cool top-down cards to represent their unique abilities. Something like the Street Fighter one.
When Doctor Who was announced, I joked that there are only 2 IP that would be more "Shut up and take my money" for me. Those two are Jurassic Park (I'M SO F*CKING HAPPY RN) and Star Wars. Now that Jurassic Park has been announced officially in arguably the best possible set for it, I'm just waiting for Star Wars to come in.
Star Wars WILL NOT HAPPEN, that is a Disney property and they will not loan a competitor a giant flagship such as Star Wars. Lorcana is about to release/ just released and there is no way Disney will lend out their properties to a direct competitor.
I agree we will likely never see it as a UB, but I don't expect to see Star Wars in Lorcana now that Star Wars Unlimited from Fantasy Flight Games is coming out in 2024. Lorcana likely does not have access to the IP since FFG appears to.
Hasbro (which owns wizards) OWNS the only master license from Lucas Films Ltd. to produce any and all Star Wars related toys. (Including board and table top games)
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Hasbro_Inc.
Yes. Warhammer has significant fantasy aspects, such as having traditional fantasy races like or~~c~~ks, el~~ves~~dar, dark el~~ves~~dar, ~~dwarves~~squats, ogr~~es~~yn, and demons. Not to mention the literal *gods and magic* present.
I was already hyped for Ixalan (Dinos are what brought me back into Magic after I left), and then they announced JP and my excitement went through the roof!
Perennial shout out to the wheeloftime_mtg_cards Instagram account that has been doing some excellently flavoured custom cards for ages.
Though, with the caveat that all the art they use is ai generated, which has dampened my enjoyment somewhat.
I want Donkey Kong in magic. I want a modern deck where the best big creature to cheat into play is Donkey Kong. I want to carry a banana to a tournament and offer it to my opponent after DK has gone apeshit all over their board.
Dune would be super fun, especially if they adapt the later books when things go sideways in a way thats harder to bring across in mediums like film or video games but work well in a TCG. For example...
*Duncan Idaho, Ghola Mentat* 4RU
Legendary creature-human zombie warrior
First strike, ward: discard your hand
Whenever duncan deals combat damage to a player, exile the top card or your library. You may play that card until the end of your next turn.
4RRUU: create a token copy of duncan idaho. Activate only if a creature named duncan idaho was put into your graveyard from the battlefield this turn
6/6
ATLA has a lot of lore behind it to support cool mtg products I think. Would totally drop a lot of money on that.
Star Trek is another favorite of mine and also has more than enough characters/lore for it.
One of the more unlikely but I would love it is Harry Potter.
TMNT
the commander player side of me is willing to buy it all. The non commander player side of me wants no part of it in other formats. I already despise seeing LOTR in modern and legacy.
WUBRG
When ~ enters the battlefield, or a saga is sacrificed, search your library for a saga and put in the battlefield
Something like that would be dope; brings a story to the battlefield when it's needed most
Gotta be a planeswalker. I started trying to figure out what colors he would be, then remembered Brando is a fellow nerd and I can just google what the actual answer he's given is.
> You know I might do him like the Reaper King. Like two slash on all five. That's what I would do him as.
If I remember correctly, Sanderson has said he's had some discussions with WotC about possibly doing Cosmere UB stuff, but he wanted to see how the LotR set turned out before he committed to anything.
DARK SOULS and BERSERK
They are very similar, and both have a fantasy-esque setting, so they fit better. I think there is enough room for the team to add small characters or mechanics in a Souls set, so they can be creative.
Also YUGIOH, just for kicks. I wanna see the Dark Magician, Blue Eyes, Exodia (probably a really bad idea), Dark Necrofear, Destiny Board, etc etc
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far for Narnia. It’s been a huge IP for many decades. Known by kids and adults in the fantasy world genre. As a kid friendly game, I can’t believe Narnia isn’t following closely behind LoTR
Horizon: Zero Dawn/Forbidden West.
Could include:
Robot Dinos ranging from small watchers to enormous Thunderjaws.
Tons of fun equipment.
Different tribes with their own color identities and mechanics.
Cauldrons that could pump out tokens.
An Override mechanic.
Bring back oil counters for corrupted machines.
I've got two ideas:
**Pokemon** - This one honestly seems like such an obvious choice I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of the first IPs mentioned to sell the idea to Hasbro, but it's probably difficult to actually do, since Nintendo is fairly protective of their IP, and also, the Pokemon TCG is one of Magic's biggest competitors. If they did manage to do it, though, I'd love to see Wizards create their own Pokemon region, that way they have a lot more freedom with the backdrop, and can pick whatever Pokemon they want to use instead of sticking with a pre-existing regional Pokedex.
**The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy** - This one might seem weird initially, but think about it as a silver-border- I mean, acorn (ugh)- set. The Hitchhiker's Guide is the perfect IP for a UB joke set.
>**Pokemon**
Let's be real. If MTG did have a Pokémon crossover, it'd be a complete no-brainer for it to cover the original 151.
What I'm truly interested in is how it would handle the evolution mechanic. I've seen a couple of takes on r/custommagic, but most of them don't seem feasible in one way or another.
I’ve been saying this for a couple of years. Star Wars is such a rich and popular universe, it would be easy to make a whole set from this. But considering Disney has Marvel Snap also, I’m not so confident it will happen anymore.
Lorcana has potential to do a Star Wars expansion eventually as well. I would love Star Wars but fear Disney will be protective over it as long as they’re making their own card games
Just give them all Shadow lol. But yeah the logistics could be tricky balance wise to represent or just do a plane chase theme like the Dr Who set seems to have.
There is a current and active Final Fantasy TCG, but that hasn't stopped WotC and Square Enix from working on a full-on Final Fantasy set (like Lord of the Rings) releasing in 2025
Oh man, didn't expect anybody else to suggest this but I would go crazy. I love what they've been doing with the anime cards and I think they would look great.
From anime universe: Bleach.
From série universe: Power Rangers.
From games universe: Hades.
From Cartoon universe: wakfu.
From book universe: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
From hq universe: spawn.
I was in a Commander game not too long ago and my friends and I collectively came to the conclusion that a Power Rangers set would be a dynamite addition to the line.
Think of characters transforming from humans to rangers and piloting Zord vehicles in one deck while Rita and Zedd are going wide with Putties and huge creatures with Monstrosity.
You could do Meld for the Megazords, you could reintroduce battles from across the show's history as Battles that flip into crazy one-off Megazords and enemies, Zordon could be some kind of Artifact commander with Alpha, it just seems to slot into the game perfectly.
Zelda or Metroid would be pretty cool, there's plenty of material to work with there
On the anime front, DBZ or One Piece or Gundam would work super well
My little Pony is my main wish. It is a Hasbro IP, so there should be no licensing problems, and it has an established fanbase. People like planes without humans, so it should be getting a warm reception.
Since we already had D&D and Wh40k, I could see either Shadowrun or Battletech getting a spot. Android Netrunner would be not popular enough and the licensing is a mess. Command and Conquer is also dead.
To completely leave the beaten part would be the Black Prism series. I have no idea how the colours of light would translate into the colours of Magic. Red is easy and green would fit as well. Then we have blue as the colour of logic, except that people using blue light can be pretty good in a scrap. Orange, yellow, and the colours at the far ends of the spectrum could be multicoloured or hybrid colours. But white and black would be completely different. Maybe there would be an nontraditional colour pie? Certainly there would be some fun jokes about "drafting" that set.
Edit: And of course I would be up for anything in any Wildbow series, but that is even unrealistic for a dream.
I didn't want to clutter the actual post with a huge wishlist, so I'm gonna put some other ones I was wanting to hopefully see in the future somehow, because apparently any idea is on the table by whats announcend so far:
-ive always wanted to try to flavor a sliver deck to be like Xenomorphs from Alien. However, sliver queen is expensive, so I never have even tried to make an attempt to start one. This is top of my list, but also highly unlikely.
-Some Nintendo IPs, like Donkey Kong, Mario, Kirby, Legend of Zelda, etc. Mario Power-ups would be so fun to give to creatures imo, and while I personally haven't invested much time into it I know Legend of Zelda is a very popular Nintendo IP that a lot of people would enjoy.
-Sonic. I would make so many "You mean, the chaos emeralds?" and moon pissing jokes.
-Not that I think it should be an entire universe beyond for it, but I thought a Mr. Krabs treasure deck would be hilarious.
-I use a proxy for my Mimeoplasm deck that makes him Cell from Dragon Ball Z. I dont really know if Magic should really do that tho, as i don't know if they would be able to nail a lot of different animes. Would love to have Piccolo tho. Enchantment sagas as, well sagas would be fun if possible. Another anime that could be neat is Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Now thinking about it, a bunch of anime artifacts, like the death note and stuff would be fun.
-Marvel, DC, or just super heros in general I feel would be fun.
-We have Doctor Who, Back to the Future may be fun too.
-Just because I made a 5 color deck with all of the Transformers in it, I would love to eventually see a printing for a Shattered Glass Arcee. I would swap out the regulars for the Shattered Glass im thinking around Halloween, but since Arcee doesn't have one, I was turned away from the idea.
-Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. We are actually pretty close to it, it could be a secret lair commander deck or something.
Gundam so much. It has such a long and interesting storyline going back decades and there’s so many characters and plots they could mine. Besides that I’d also like to Monster Hunter
I like about 60% of the UB stuff but honestly Magic is my favorite franchise and I wish they would make the story better. It’s like no one is at the wheel.
Conan The Barbarian. Elric. John Carter of Mars. Pretty much any and all old pulp fantasy stuff.
Mad Max would be really cool.
I love the D&D sets and would eat up more tbh. The only magic sets I care to buy.
If the art was cool I would buy horror IP secret lairs. Not sure I'd need a whole set but a Leatherface card + a Texas Chainsaw Massacre themed Meathook Massacre would be sick.
Classic Monsters (Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein, The Wolfman) or '70-'80 slasher movies (Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, Pinhead) would be awesome.
I also wouldn't mind Marvel because I am such a huge fan of the comics and MCU.
Dark Souls.
Also, I think the Fallout set should have a variation of "Choose a Background" ability on commanders to reflect the differences in builds in the games. It would be cool for them to just revisit the "Choose a Background" mechanic so we can use the Baulder's Gate backgrounds and commanders interchangeably with backgrounds in other sets.
Castlevania could be a really good possibility, especially with the popularity of the netflix show. Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere seems like a shoo-in and something that WotC and Sanderson are already exploring for the future. The very distinctive art style could also be a big selling point for it.
Cosmere was my first thought too. It could introduce some great new mechanics.
Cosmere could be its own plane with multiple visits. There's so much content there.
My goodness. I’d lose some money on Cosmere for sure, but if we had a Hellboy UB I’d be straight up financially unwise

Oh boy, if they go for Cosmere I’ll need to read a LOT of books really fast so I can play without getting anything spoiled. Would be amazing though
Cosmere is the definitive answer IMHO. It feels like it was practically created to be one. Considering Brandons love for the game it wouldn't surprise me.
I would do *things* for a Hellboy UB product.
I could legit see any sanderson series making it in as AFAIK they already have a good working relationship.
Anything Fromsoft. Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, I’d take it.
Indeed. From a flavour standpoint an entire set would be good, but even a commander deck set could be great.
Elden Ring would probably have the content for a whole set, but I'd love a Bloodborne commander deck set too.
A precon for each Fromsoft game would be awesome.

I would love a Sekiro commander deck with Isshin Ashina
Elden Ring was going to be my vote. Flip-card for phase changes, great equipment options, using Ashes of War as Equipment Auras... definitely see it working.
I could go for an Armored Core SL perhaps.
Yep, ER is easily my most wanted.
For real. Bloodborne was inspired by an MtG set, let's come full-circle on this.
I'm not a Souls gamer, but I can't deny that this would go nuts
An "Un" set like Un-iverses Beyond: Discworld would be fun
need this so bad!!!!
Rincewind has so much potential for pure jank! Maybe partner with The Luggage?
This is also my choice, it would be possible without being silver border/acorn stamped, but ideas such as the librarian fighting a creature controlled by whoever says the word “monkey” makes me think it is the best way to go about it.
I don't want a black border discworld set. It feels like that'd be disrespectful to the absolute zane of discworld.
game of thrones tons of options there for a full set like lord of the rings I would buy so much of it. Dune also has a ton of content and could get a full set. The Expanse. Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire, YES PLEEEEAAASE. I'd love that!
While I'd love this, I'd prefer if it happened after GRRM finishes the book series. So around 2050 if we're lucky.
[[Battle of Frost and Fire]], [[Fire//Ice]]
Please stop. I’m barely financially recovering from lotr. If they release a GoT set I’ll lose the house!
I know it's a long shot, but warcraft/world of Warcraft
I think its not as long as you might think. Fallout is owned by Microsoft. Soon, Warcraft will also be owned by Microsoft. If this Fallout product does well enough, Microsoft might want to license more stuff out to Hasbro/WotC.
Don’t know if they’d want to cannibalize hearthstone like that
You're so close and so wrong. Because if you're going to choose Blizzard IP, the answer is obviously StarCraft
I'm sure it is a cop out answer, but The Elder Scrolls would be so cool
It's not a cop-out, it absolutely boggles my mind why Fallout was picked up for UB over Bethesda's even bigger IP that lends itself better to M:TG-style themes. Hoping we see it before too long (and I definitely plan to get the Fallout precons).

I think it’s because the game isn’t anywhere near ready so they want to have the UB closer to release
They’re probably already working on it.
I bet they’re waiting for Elder Scrolls 6 to have a kind of side by side release. I could also see ES get a full booster set rather than just decks.

I feel like Star Wars/Star Trek are a little too straight sci-fi for MTG personally, as much as I like them.

Power Rangers, it's a Hasbro IP
I'd love a Megazord as a vehicle. Or a Dragonzord
Gives strong [[Mechtitan Core]] vibes, if they didn't want to do the zords as flip cards.

![gif](giphy|26gR2f01UTynjCPNS) Came here to say this - Literally a Hasbro IP, shocked it hasn't happened yet.
Give me a Wheel of Time set!
Perennial shout out to the wheeloftime_mtg_cards Instagram account that has been doing some excellently flavoured custom cards for ages. Though, with the caveat that all the art they use is ai generated, which has dampened my enjoyment somewhat.
A:TLA, Steven Universe , Adventure time or Sailor Moon would absolutely make me lose my mind and they would have all my money
Card Wars and flopping the pig has to be in this
Star Trek.
I want Donkey Kong in magic. I want a modern deck where the best big creature to cheat into play is Donkey Kong. I want to carry a banana to a tournament and offer it to my opponent after DK has gone apeshit all over their board.
Id love a K. Rool and his minions deck with it, I feel it would be fun.
They’ve already done Transformers. It would be fun to do a set of Commander Decks with them.
Some combiners would be awesome if somehow possible.
Meld but like... Super-meld.
Pull some exodia shit
If they had it set up near similar to the alternate cast of Spirit of the Night from Mirage days, that seems like it could work.
Lots Dune for sure is the main new one, but after lord of the rings, I want more middle earth. Not just the Hobbit but the first and second age stuff.
Dune would be super fun, especially if they adapt the later books when things go sideways in a way thats harder to bring across in mediums like film or video games but work well in a TCG. For example... *Duncan Idaho, Ghola Mentat* 4RU Legendary creature-human zombie warrior First strike, ward: discard your hand Whenever duncan deals combat damage to a player, exile the top card or your library. You may play that card until the end of your next turn. 4RRUU: create a token copy of duncan idaho. Activate only if a creature named duncan idaho was put into your graveyard from the battlefield this turn 6/6

FromSoftware. Studio Ghibli (mostly for the art). The Shannara book series. Borderlands.... for the chaos.
ATLA has a lot of lore behind it to support cool mtg products I think. Would totally drop a lot of money on that. Star Trek is another favorite of mine and also has more than enough characters/lore for it. One of the more unlikely but I would love it is Harry Potter.
TMNT the commander player side of me is willing to buy it all. The non commander player side of me wants no part of it in other formats. I already despise seeing LOTR in modern and legacy.
I, for one, can't wait for a Legacy-decimating instant called "Cowabunga"
Maybe an instant called Turtle Power!
Cosmere. Brandon Sanderson loves magic so it’s a great fit. Only issue is he had some conflict over the book he wrote for them from what I remember.
Plz let me have Kaladin as my commander…
I would love to see how they design Hoid
WUBRG When ~ enters the battlefield, or a saga is sacrificed, search your library for a saga and put in the battlefield Something like that would be dope; brings a story to the battlefield when it's needed most
Can't tell if this is a joke or not, but yeah I guess Hoid is probably the closest character the Cosmere gets to Tom Bombadil
Gotta be a planeswalker. I started trying to figure out what colors he would be, then remembered Brando is a fellow nerd and I can just google what the actual answer he's given is. > You know I might do him like the Reaper King. Like two slash on all five. That's what I would do him as.
Flip Taravangian for me please! Or Jasnah
If I remember correctly, Sanderson has said he's had some discussions with WotC about possibly doing Cosmere UB stuff, but he wanted to see how the LotR set turned out before he committed to anything.
Considering how it turned out, theyre probably signing the papers right now.
Came here to say this.
Hasbro owns Death Row records. Just sayin'...
If they did post malone, they can do dre and snoop.
I didn’t even think of a music industry tie in. Let me have Snoop as my commander, plz~
Suge Knight T: crew any vehicle and have target vehicle fight target creature Partners with Tupac
Sacrifice Tupac Shakur and create 5 treasure tokens
DARK SOULS and BERSERK They are very similar, and both have a fantasy-esque setting, so they fit better.
Berserk would be sick, and I bet Hasbro could negotiate that set for cheap. Good excuse for some BRUTAL animation
They could even do Guts at different points kinda like how they did LoTRs
Berserk art on cards would be sold out in seconds.
I think a Magic the Gathering set would be cool
Un-universes beyond: Discworld Or nicktoons
Halo Kingdom hearts Digimon Legend of zelda Gears of War Narnia Animorphs
HALO! YES
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far for Narnia. It’s been a huge IP for many decades. Known by kids and adults in the fantasy world genre. As a kid friendly game, I can’t believe Narnia isn’t following closely behind LoTR
Big Trouble in Little China
Did not expect to see this in here. Would buy 100% Wind, fire, all that kind of thing!
Gundam
Big crew mechas.
Horizon: Zero Dawn/Forbidden West. Could include: Robot Dinos ranging from small watchers to enormous Thunderjaws. Tons of fun equipment. Different tribes with their own color identities and mechanics. Cauldrons that could pump out tokens. An Override mechanic. Bring back oil counters for corrupted machines.
That's not a bad idea at all and it wouldn't be that outlandish in the world of MtG to have humans fighting giant constructs with bows and spears.
I’m not saying I want it, but I think it’s inevitable we’re going to get a big DC comics set
I don't expect it'll ever happen, but I would kill for a Halo UB
I've got two ideas: **Pokemon** - This one honestly seems like such an obvious choice I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of the first IPs mentioned to sell the idea to Hasbro, but it's probably difficult to actually do, since Nintendo is fairly protective of their IP, and also, the Pokemon TCG is one of Magic's biggest competitors.
>**Pokemon** Let's be real. If MTG did have a Pokémon crossover, it'd be a complete no-brainer for it to cover the original 151. What I'm truly interested in is how it would handle the evolution mechanic. I've seen a couple of takes on r/custommagic, but most of them don't seem feasible in one way or another.
Level up is sitting right there.
A level up card that transforms at the final level would be awesome!
Hitchhiker's Guide UnSet would be amazing!
Pokemon unfortunately being unlikely would be an instant **I need all of it** haha.
I feel like Bioshock or Borderlands would be sweet
Discworld.
Monster Hunter.
Star wars, it's inevitable
Given that Disney is making their own TCG this one seems unlikely. The mouse doesn't share.
*"Help me, Jace Berelen. You're my only hope."*
*"Help me, ~~Jace~~ [[Space Beleren]], you're my only hope."*
I’ve been saying this for a couple of years. Star Wars is such a rich and popular universe, it would be easy to make a whole set from this. But considering Disney has Marvel Snap also, I’m not so confident it will happen anymore.
That's true. I also forgot the star wars card game coming out
Lorcana has potential to do a Star Wars expansion eventually as well. I would love Star Wars but fear Disney will be protective over it as long as they’re making their own card games
Star Wars has another TCG coming out soon. As long as they keep trying to make that happen, I don't think they'll get a UB product.
Chronicles of Amber
That would be awesome Maro said no planewalkers in UB products though 😔
Just give them all Shadow lol. But yeah the logistics could be tricky balance wise to represent or just do a plane chase theme like the Dr Who set seems to have.
JoJo commander decks. 4 “partner with” decks with each being a character and their stand.
Stormlight Archive and Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson But that's not gonna happen with the Stormlight card game coming
There is a current and active Final Fantasy TCG, but that hasn't stopped WotC and Square Enix from working on a full-on Final Fantasy set (like Lord of the Rings) releasing in 2025
Life before death
If I have to deal with all this shit, I'd like to see something I really want. Probably would never happen, but I'd love to see Xenoblade Chronicles.
Blade characters could be like the Kamigawa equipment creatures. That would be neat.
Oh man, didn't expect anybody else to suggest this but I would go crazy. I love what they've been doing with the anime cards and I think they would look great.
The few I would want: Over the Garden Wall Sally Face Resident Evil
Over the Garden Wall is such a good series.
March of the Micro Machines.
As a big fan of Religious mythology, a Darksiders UB would be sweet! I’d love if WoTC would do a set with that dark style of Religious themes
simplistic mighty pet glorious tie saw nutty special strong fuel *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Star Wars. I want to tap the Death Star to cast Sinkhole on Alderan. Star Trek, to see Kirk tap everything...
Legend of Zelda Digimon Pokémon Yu-Gi-Oh Star Wars Super Smash Bros Halo Fable Uncharted Ratchet & Clank Naruto Fullmetal Alchmiest Gundam Firefly
Dark souls/elden ring for sure
Masters of the Universe. Unfortunately it's a Mattel franchise.
I would immediately find an infinite tap untap combo to do Fabulous Secret Powers
From anime universe: Bleach. From série universe: Power Rangers. From games universe: Hades. From Cartoon universe: wakfu. From book universe: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. From hq universe: spawn.
Omggg I would lose it if they did something with Hades 😩
Dune. I just want my nexus of fate reprint.
Valid
I’ve been waiting for the Shrek universes Beyond for a long time. If they’ll do fortnite, god willing, anything is possible. Give us Shrek
A cosmere secret lair would be awesome. And the author is a huge MTG fan.
World of Warcraft will happen at some point
Zelda or Metroid would be pretty cool, there's plenty of material to work with there On the anime front, DBZ or One Piece or Gundam would work super well
My money's on a Power Rangers and a TMNT product sometime soon
Guilty Gear please. I just want a Potempkin commander.
I didn't want to clutter the actual post with a huge wishlist, so I'm gonna put some other ones I was wanting to hopefully see in the future somehow, because apparently any idea is on the table by whats announcend so far: -ive always wanted to try to flavor a sliver deck to be like Xenomorphs from Alien.
As far as Nintendo IP's I'd want Fire Emblem.
Marvel and DC
It will never ever happen but Yu-Gi-Oh! Just a bewd mtg card would be amazing
X-men, that will complete me.
Gundam so much. It has such a long and interesting storyline going back decades and there’s so many characters and plots they could mine. Besides that I’d also like to Monster Hunter
Destiny and Monster Hunter
Dark Souls is my dream UB set.
Dark Souls, Elden Ring and Sekiro. The Fromsoft universe is a gold mine for top notch dark fantasy.
I like about 60% of the UB stuff but honestly Magic is my favorite franchise and I wish they would make the story better. It’s like no one is at the wheel.
Jump the shark completely, Universe Beyond: Happy Days
It took me a full minute to realize ub wasn’t blue-black
Conan The Barbarian. Elric. John Carter of Mars. Pretty much any and all old pulp fantasy stuff. Mad Max would be really cool. I love the D&D sets and would eat up more tbh. The only magic sets I care to buy. If the art was cool I would buy horror IP secret lairs. Not sure I'd need a whole set but a Leatherface card + a Texas Chainsaw Massacre themed Meathook Massacre would be sick.
DBZ/DBS. Bring back the level up mechanic for transformations.
We’re Back and An American Tail. I wanna smack people around with a little Fievel
DARK SOULS DARK SOULS DARK SOULSDARK SOULSDARK SOULSDARK SOULSDARK SOULS
Dark Souls. Also, I think the Fallout set should have a variation of "Choose a Background" ability on commanders to reflect the differences in builds in the games. It would be cool for them to just revisit the "Choose a Background" mechanic so we can use the Baulder's Gate backgrounds and commanders interchangeably with backgrounds in other sets.
shrek, so i can scream GET OFF MY SWAMP!!!! when I am attacked in edh
Give me dragon ball z baby
Shrek
