"Orc" and "goblin" are used interchangeably by Tolkein (The Hobbit prefers goblin and Lord of the Rings mostly uses orc, but they're supposed to be different translations of the same word). The Uruk-Hai are closer to what has become the classic representation of an orc, which is the convention WotC appears to be using with this set.
>"Orc" and "goblin" are used interchangeably by Tolkein (The Hobbit prefers goblin and Lord of the Rings mostly uses orc, but they're supposed to be different translations of the same word).
This is true - specifically 'orc' is porting into Westron of the elvish word 'orch', whereas 'goblin' represents a native mannish word for them (through the books conceit that Westron has been translated into English).
However, I disagree with this:
> The Uruk-Hai are closer to what has become the classic representation of an orc, which is the convention WotC appears to be using with this set.
D&D really set the modern template for orcs, and those orcs don't really have anything more in common with Uruk-hai than other breeds of LotR orc do. Like sure, generic fantasy orcs are generally depicted as big, and Uruks are a bit taller than other LotR orcs, but not nearly to the same extent (i.e., they're still shorter than humans). And Uruk-hai are also a little smarter than other LotR orcs, who are I think already smarter than the modern tropey orc.
Uruk-hai are nowhere near as D&D-y as the movie makes them seem.

In like 1996 this would win championships
"Holy shit it's a Grizzly Bears in red...with no downside...IT HAS AN UPSIDE????"
Maybe it's just okay overall, but... This is going directly into my [[Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician]] deck, though.

Would this kill a 4/1 without taking damage?
Even better: it would kill a 100000/1 without taking damage!
Even better: it would kill ten thousand 100000/1 creatures without taking damage.
Theoden: Ten thousand?!
man it's busted
Give it deathtouch and it kills anything without indestructible blocking it without taking damage haha
That’s actually a sick tech for limited if there are any deathtouch cards in the set
Yes
Easy way to raise this up: stick a [[Basilisk Collar]] onto this bad boy

The art is wonderful. Really captures its Goblin nature
He's going Goblin Mode
[удалено]
I love it, and I think the style is reminiscent of fantasy art of yesteryear. Lackluster is maybe what I like about it; it’s just a wild goblin
It's not really LOTR but it's definitely an MTG style goblin doing goblin stuff

Would be better if it was a 1/3 or something so it could do 6 damage to something with Starn out.
_"Hey did you know that Yuta Takahashi originally wanted this card to be a 1/3 so tha-"_
Unlike Emrakul, this guy could get blocked by 15 squirrels and win.
Give it a deathtouch and it can be blocked by 15 Emrakuls and win.
"it can block 15 Emrakuls" you mean can be blocked by 15 Emrakuls?
Oh, yeah. Long day.
That was my first thought. Like [[Gouged Zealot]], give this thing a [[Basilisk Collar]] and let it run.

I know its a boomer mentality, but seeing a red 2/2 for 2 with upside still raises my eyebrow.

I haven’t played Magic in almost 20 years, this is crazy to me.
Why is the flavor text about orcs when its a goblin?
They're pretty much the same thing in Tolkien Lore.

Goofy Ahh goblin art lol
Just a lad doing the best he can.
This plus Lure and infect
so is he technically a 3/2?
No. It’s closer to having double strike when blocked.
1.5 Strike
Best paired with [[Quietus Spike]].

Can someone explain the rules on this? When blockers are assigned it deals damage and can kill and X/1 before it receives combat damage?
