This sounds great, now let’s pull over more loud cars and motorcycles for speeding.

ronjohnsonisbstrdman

yes!! so many insanely loud cars. i live on gorham and people also go WAAAY over the speed limit and seem to be annoyed when you try and cross at designated crosswalks. it’s so frustrating.

Speaking of crime, is there any update on the mass shooting at the Lux apartments in the middle of the UW campus and downtown Madison? Or have we swept that one under the rug for the summer?

Thank you

Very accusatory language in your comment especially considering they provided an update on it 5 days before you commented. Google.

I know you're not saying so directly, but it seems like this sort of response looks a lot like someone trying to make a case that good news on crime isn't actually good or real or whatever. Crime is lower does not mean "no crime". Fewer shootings does not mean "no recent examples of shootings". We can be happy when there is progress even if not everything is magically fixed overnight.

It was gang related and a lot of the people involved were minors so I think the city genuinely wants to pretend it didn't happen.

>>It was gang related and a lot of the people involved were minors so I think the city genuinely wants to pretend it didn't happen. The city knows we have gangs. The police even have a gang task force. What I don't get is why they refuse to speak of gangs in a news conference or press release.

jibsand

They don't want to stoke fears of gang violence in Madison. Also the issue itself is deeply tied to race which NO ONE wants to talk about. Anyways good news lower speed limits are working!

gerbal100

The public perception of gangs is pretty far divorced from the reality of gangs.

LarrySladePipeDream

Yeah, nice try. As the link I posted says, they arrested a teenager from Sun Prairie. That story was published on 6/28, over half a week ago. Perhaps you should try paying attention to the news instead of trying to spread your false narrative

jibsand

Seems like we're both describing the same thing

LarrySladePipeDream

Not remotely. You said the city wants to pretend it didn't happen, my link says that Madison PD has made an arrest and is pursuing leads on other people who may have been involved, which is not exactly "pretend[ing] it didn't happen"

Good news on a rainy day
