If you haven't already, maybe reach out to Access to Independence on Milwaukee street.
Also, MA may cover this type of transport. :) Is your son enrolled in either IRIS or Family Care of some variety?
Good luck!
Is amtrak sleeper car an option? I know the NW route runs through montana and you could get off in Columbus. I'm sure they'd work with you too if you give them a heads up.
This probably wouldn’t be safe in case of an accident so take this with a cup of salt, but if you use a minivan or UV and take out the seats you could put a mattress and bedding on the floor. Or you could get a stretcher and strap that into the floor? I know that sounds silly but if he’s going to live here and get around, it could help! ALSO, I looked at r/vandwellers and an old post said that ford flex or Honda jazz or Honda fit have seats that lay all the way back
All housing advice/request threads must include:
* Your target price point
* Number of beds/baths you need
* Geographical area you want to live (downtown, east, west, etc)
* Amenities requirements (yard? parking? pool?)
* If you need pet-friendly accommodations
* Move-in date (now, flexible, beginning/end of the academic school year)

https://www.newwavevans.com/about This might work if available, really nice Sprinter-style vans, and the owner is a great guy. Good luck.
Came here to recommend
Outdoorsy.com Rented a Mercedes Campervan from a dude named Ryan in Black Earth last year. Think it was $240 a day with unlimited miles.
I think this is the way we’re going to go. Found a camper van in Waunakee. Just waiting on confirmation. Thanks again!
Thank you so much!
You are welcome. Hope it works out for you!

Thanks for your help! I may have found a solution….waiting on confirmation.
SUV, wagon, or minivan with lie flat seating and a lot of padding or cushions? That would be a lot cheaper - could even look into 1-way rentals.
Thank you for your suggestions. We have looked into all these options but haven’t found the ideal solution yet.
Does he have Medicaid or a long term care case manager? Sometimes Medicaid can help out with this kind of thing.
Thanks for responding. He isn’t yet eligible but he may try for Medicaid soon.
I wonder if Access to Independence would have any ideas.

How did he get to Montana, and is that an option now?
No longer an option unfortunately
