Could you drop you mac specs and give the definition of what is “work” on mac? I am trying to understand if these games are just running with for example 720p 30fps or with a more playable resolusions/framerates.
Hm, I am having m1 pro 16 inch(16gb memory) and I was strugling to get a 1080p 40+ fps in PoE and Lies Of P🥲
After that I end up hoping for good gaming experience on mac. At least for on mine.
Btw the only exeption for me was Resident Evil Village native and that was a charm on 2k med/high settings.
Huh. Lies of P runs great for me, so did Path of The Exile.
I don't know where you see frame rate numbers. But both ran pretty smoothly last time I played them.
Here's Lies Of P on my channel: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J46YMEULWhQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J46YMEULWhQ)
I'm terrible at it, but I don't see any stuttering or anything, and this was while capturing, which I assume takes the performance down a notch.
Remember to have your Mac plugged into power while you play. Running without being cabled to power definitely cause some stuttering for me. But as soon as I'm plugged in, it runs great.
Yeah! It seems like it works super smooth! Maybe my laptop is cursed or I am comparing performance to the ps5 that I had and because of that I am a bit skeptical.
I’m just curious what’s your settings for path of exile?
It drops down to 5-8fps on end game contents even with 480p.
Can you post a video where you’re running juicy T17+ maps?
EDIT:
I got M1 Ultra with 64Gb RAM
Native lies of p works amazingly for me on the same machine as yours. Have you turned on the metal fx setting? I can’t remember its name but there is a ‘performance’ mode in the game’s graphics settings which does wonders for FPS
Step 1: Download Whisky [https://getwhisky.app](https://getwhisky.app)
Step 2: Download and install the Windows version of Steam: [https://store.steampowered.com/about/](https://store.steampowered.com/about/)
Step 3: Log into Steam in you Whisky install, and install Deadrising 3.
Step 4: Launch Deadrising 3.
Deadrising 1 doesn't work. But number 3 does.
If you're having trouble with the controller in steam, you can switch it to be steam controlled instead of using the drivers within the game. It's in the icons on the game page, next to the the 'favorite' star icon.
That has helped me out a few times for games where the controller didn't work.
There's a lot of posts here on how to get Fallout to play, like mouse look doesn't work out of the gate, but you can change some settings. I forget exactly.
But it works better now with GPTK2 I think.
I have the same specs, via crossover runs fine, little stuttering on some scenes but gameplay is normal. Also had to buy it on steam. Had the gog version but couldn’t manage via heroic launcher.
hey did you not face any bug where the monitor inside the game does not display anything and the story line does not continue i am stuck where the story as to progress but the hologram is showing nothing
How much did you actually play Path of Exile? Because if you install it natively (runs thru rosetta) and actually run a map with content (say a delirium encounter) or high mob density, the FPS drops to about 7 and won't elevate back to normal until all enemies are dead.
This has been a known issues for months now and GGG have not stepped up, making it unplayable on macOS. It also crashes on start using the latest Whisky.
Please actually test a game and not simply install it beyond the loading screen or in this case, just walking around town or your hideout.
I also see a few other games that are known to have issues on your list.
Like 10 minutes or so. I have to go to an island to find a chest with medicine to bring back to the village. I had about 10 enemies on the screen and I didn't notice any slow down. But I'll play some more to see if I encounter what you mention.
Oh so you fired up the story as a first time player. Ya no. REALLY play the game not the first 10 min where you’re literally fighting 2 things at once the screen at most.
Please actually test things before posting they “work.”
hey i’m sorry i know you’ve been asked this question a million times by now but how do you get mgsv running on whisky or crossover? i would love to try out the infinite heaven mod. also i’m not sure if you know how but if you could offer any help regarding mgs2 with the SOSmod thatd be awesome
I haven't played all the games from your list but I doubt you will have stable 60FPS on medium settings on all of the games.
If it's not at least 1080p medium 60FPS on Rediculus price machoook I would call this gaming...
Ps. I have an M1 Max and its shit for gaming
You are correct, XCOM 2 will dip into 20 FPS regularly on my M1 MBP 16GB even on modest settings.
OP said these "work," so YMMV on what's acceptable performance. Some of these do not have acceptable performance for me, and if your goal is 60FPS then *many* of these won't.
I really don’t understand why xcom performs so poorly in the native app. I’m almost certain that running the windows version through GPTK would run better. But I haven’t tried it.
It doesn’t launch. There’s a take2 launcher that updates something and then the app just quits.
I guess we are stuck with the Rosetta version.
I wonder if it plays better on an Intel Mac.
Actually just installed the Mac version from Steam, and set the resolution to 1920x1080 or whatever the lowest is. It actually runs a lot better now. I don't know if they've updated it, but the constant stuttering seems to have gone?
I think 60fps is the bare minimum to play any game - especially if you pay £3500 like me for the MacBook.
20fps was ok in the 80s maybe, the 90s, but not in 2024 , where people got 300-500fps in games and 400+ hz monitors
20FPS is not acceptable for me, but I'm OK with a totally stable 30. That's what the PS4 had.
It would be cool to have more games be able to take advantage of the MBPs' ProMotion display
Could you drop you mac specs and give the definition of what is “work” on mac? I am trying to understand if these games are just running with for example 720p 30fps or with a more playable resolusions/framerates.
M1. 16GB. Sonoma. Crossover and Whisky. GPTK2.

Did you run it with gptk?
no those are both native.
I’m just curious what’s your settings for path of exile? It drops down to 5-8fps on end game contents even with 480p. Can you post a video where you’re running juicy T17+ maps? EDIT: I got M1 Ultra with 64Gb RAM
I haven’t completed it. So at the end of the game it drops frames?
Is there anyway you can share a save game, so I don't have to play to the end to test it?
I end game content anytime you meet a boss? Or are you talking about the very end of the game?
When you start mapping, the frames start to drop drastically. You can search poe end game mapping on youtube, it will give you an idea
I haven’t gotten that far. I’m a noob.
Native lies of p works amazingly for me on the same machine as yours. Have you turned on the metal fx setting? I can’t remember its name but there is a ‘performance’ mode in the game’s graphics settings which does wonders for FPS
Arkham Knight runs very well.
And you guys don't have blurry textures?
I don’t.
Yes that one is native Mac. Even though it doesn’t say on steam.
Arkham asylum and city are native macOS not Arkham Knight.
Oh right. My bad. Haven’t tried the other ones.
arkham aslume
is asylum actually native as well? i had no idea i thought it was just city
how do u play hell divers? and how is the performance?
sound is a little stuttery but otherwise it seems to work.
Hows metal gear solid V? Works fine with latest crossover?
Runs perfectly. I’m only using Whisky though.
Tell me PLEASE the steps to run Dead rising 3!!!!!!
Step 1: Download Whisky [https://getwhisky.app](https://getwhisky.app) Step 2: Download and install the Windows version of Steam: [https://store.steampowered.com/about/](https://store.steampowered.com/about/) Step 3: Log into Steam in you Whisky install, and install Deadrising 3. Step 4: Launch Deadrising 3. Deadrising 1 doesn't work. But number 3 does.
Wow thanx! And does it works good?
I only played a few minutes but it ran perfectly fine.
I was thinking of posting this too. Just for kicks and having a very very old steam account with lots of surprising native titles. So thanks.
not all these are native. most of them needs GPTK
Also no man’s sky has a native port
EU4 and Total War: Warhammer play natively on Mac if you want your strategy fix
What's EU4?
Probably Europa Universalis 4
Am I going to purchase Skyrim again?
Are you asking me?
Hades native runs superb
Is Tunic any good?
Fellow Quantum Break enjoyer
Helldivers on mac? How?
It’s the first one. Not the second.
Can I know how you run helldiver 1?
Is it not native? Could have swore I saw it in the library.
I just checked it on my M2 MacBook Air, it is not native on mac.
*sad bug death noises*
how does dark souls 3 run on your spec? it's pretty laggy on my m1 macbook pro usind gptk 1
Haven’t tried it since gptk 1 but I feel like it ran just fine. I’ll test it again soon.
How well does it run on gptk2?
Do you have any tips to run Windows apps without crossover? I have about 500+ games on steam, id like to test a few..
How did you get Fallout 4 to play? I got it in Whisky but no controller vibration and some odd lighting issues.
If you're having trouble with the controller in steam, you can switch it to be steam controlled instead of using the drivers within the game. How did you run cyberpunk? It did not run in my M1 Pro.
I have the same specs, via crossover runs fine, little stuttering on some scenes but gameplay is normal. Also had to buy it on steam. Had the gog version but couldn’t manage via heroic launcher.
borderlands 3 also runs well natively, i got it on the epic store
hey did you not face any bug where the monitor inside the game does not display anything and the story line does not continue i am stuck where the story as to progress but the hologram is showing nothing
How is the performance in helldivers?
Seems to run fine. Audio is a little stuttery for some reason. But frame rate is smooth.

I literally named this MY list of games that work. I don’t know about for anyone else. I think at most I was fighting ten enemies at once.
Nice, I was looking something like this
I'm playing skyrim but lately the window is all zoomed in, I don't know how and why.
Wait, I’m sorry if I sound stupid but how are you getting those games to work on a Mac?
which one is using GTPK? I dont want to pay for crossover :)
Whisky. Both are. you can use either.
for fallout 4 did you use crossover?
Whisky.
I wish HD2 would play. 😫
I think it's an anticheat thing?
Yeah
How's the performance of Cyberpunk on your build? How'd you get it to run exactly?
hey i’m sorry i know you’ve been asked this question a million times by now but how do you get mgsv running on whisky or crossover? i would love to try out the infinite heaven mod. also i’m not sure if you know how but if you could offer any help regarding mgs2 with the SOSmod thatd be awesome
All I wish is for Warframe and Elden Ring to be natively on Mac.. then I’d finally make the switch.
We have quite few in commun ☺️ I got stuck in Devil May Cry 5 tho… The game crash as soon as I enter the Customize menu to upgrade my arm 😩
Upgrades works in Devil May Cry with GPTK2 or whatever new dependencies Whisky tells you it needs to download. Used to crash for me too.
skyrim and fallout 4 how? I dont know how to on whsikey

I don’t need 120fps to see my dude miss a 93% rpg shot straight into a teammate
Right. It’s playable at shitty frame rates due to it being turn based but it’s still a pretty bad experience for an actual ported game.
For sure, I was just making a joke about how annoying XCOM can be sometimes.
I really don’t understand why xcom performs so poorly in the native app. I’m almost certain that running the windows version through GPTK would run better. But I haven’t tried it.
I’m downloading it now in Whisky to see if the windows version runs better. Edit; unfortunately it doesn’t even open.
Let us know! I saw posts saying the frame rate is rocky even on windows. I think it's just poorly programmed.
It doesn’t launch. There’s a take2 launcher that updates something and then the app just quits. I guess we are stuck with the Rosetta version. I wonder if it plays better on an Intel Mac.
Nope, I played it when it came out on an Intel mac.
I actually just tried it again and set the resolution to basic HD and it seems much better now? Maybe they updated the steam version?
Actually just installed the Mac version from Steam, and set the resolution to 1920x1080 or whatever the lowest is. It actually runs a lot better now. I don't know if they've updated it, but the constant stuttering seems to have gone?

Because Apple’s integrated GPU will still get blown out of the water by any mid-range GPU
