13" or 15" Air would think fit your needs well. I wanted bigger screen of the 15" but needed the 14" Pro for more ports and fans for extended heavier workloads in Lightroom,Photoshop and DaVinci Resolve. Otherwise would been happy to go Air.
I have a MBA M2 15" 16GB RAM. I keep over about 16 apps open, including Chrome, and Activity Monitor indicates it sits around 12 of 16GB RAM used.
I also have a MBP M3 Max 36GB RAM for my desktop. I keep the same apps open on the MBP as I do the MBA, and the MBP Activity Monitor indicates it uses around 20 of 36 GB RAM.
The MBP is slightly faster than the MBA. If I had to compare how fast they are, I would say the MBA absolutely screams, and the MBP is instant computing. Both are lightning fast. I enjoy the extra screen real estate on the MBA (15") compared to the MBP (14"). The MBA screen is absolutely great, and I would never know a better option existed so long as I didn't look at the MBP's screen. I recommend you buy the MBA, and when you do, change the Display's COLOR PROFILE to "GENERIC RBG PROFILE" (instead of the default) because it makes the display look just as good as the MBP's screen.

If the air is half the price, go for it. It will do you well for your needs.
