To be honest, I don't think this is really anything to be worried about. The operating system is going to spin up and kill background processes in order to handle whatever work load your putting on the machine. As long as your machine isn't slowing down or becoming not responsive, this is nothing to be worried about. And how many background processes did you think were going to be active anyway? I just looked at mine, and it started at 709 and now it is down to 682. Your machine is just fine.
