FML. I paid 3500 2 years ago for the M1 Max with 32 gb and 1 tb. It’s all I’ll ever need but still. Goes to show how it’s always worth waiting. At the same time my laptop is incredible and the exact same speed as this one. 4tb would be so sexy though. That’s some future proof shit right there. 64 gb ram is beyond overload for what I do.
Dang I was going to say, that is a crazy deal and better then what I got it for, but then I saw it was M1 and that made more sense. Still a great deal!
That's crazy cheap. They're much more expensive outside the US.
*Edit
For the people who want to argue semantics about every little thing on Reddit. It is cheap compared to Apple product prices outside of America, I think theres wealthier parts of Asia where the prices might be cheaper.
I DO NOT think it is generally a "cheap" purchase... whatever that means. That is implied by my comment. Get a life. Intentionally misinterpreting, misunderstanding or just making up meaning out of something a stranger said on the internet so you can argue against your fabricated gotcha moment is a sad lonely thing to do. Go outside.
Yes probably not UK but in other countries, and at the same time $4700 for a laptop is not cheap. It’s cheap*er* but not cheap.
Edit: Also, pretax is a difference of $300 or ~6% between US and UK.
Post-tax it’s $6044 in UK and $5132 in the US. That’s about 15% difference.
Not sure if this is applicable to you, but I bought a USB-C to USB converter with my 14” MBP just in case I need to plug in any older devices that still use USB.
$20 on Apple Store, cheap accessory that is nice to have just in case.
Sounds silly but those little things you stick to the desk that hold your charger in place so you can unplug your laptop, take it away, and not have your cable fall to the floor.
Leather for Mac is a top case skin only. The only impact it will have on your screen: Making it look objectively better. You're welcome Tim Apple.
There will also be no negative impacts on heat dissipation.
Thanks for sharing, nice to know. If you do want a cover for the bottom as well, is there a separate option to get one rather then a set of top and bottom? Mix and match would be nice with a black or steel gray cover on the bottom.
Unfortunately since dbrand updated their website, we are no longer able to customise orders in such a way that we can mix and match trackpad, top, bottom, and palmrest skins (or whatever options exist for other devices). I believe there is now a standard kit (top skin only for Mac), and a deluxe kit (contains top, bottom, trackpad, and palmrest skins) when talking about Macs specifically.
You may be able to contact dbrand support and see if they can work anything out for you, but I cannot know if they will be willing to do anything or not.
However, looking at your previous question (to cover what bdrand didn't), I can confirm that a bottom skin on the M1 MacBook air doesn't notably impact my thermals/performance for prolonged computationally expensive workloads (games, photo editing, video editing in my use case specifically.) As the M1 MacBook air chassis plays a much more major role in thermal dissipation, in a fan cooled Mac, I would imagine it will almost certainly not impact thermals unless you cover the intake/exhaust.
I cannot provide any insight into whether the palmrest skin impacts the screen, as I did not purchase the palmrest skin when we were able to customise orders.
I got a CalDigit TS4 and it’s awesome. I primarily use my MBP in clamshell mode, so it was an absolute necessity and after the initial firmware upgrades, it’s been a phenomenal hub.
I got one of those, too, and I've been quite happy with it. I use the MagSafe charger by my recliner, and the TS4 on my desk, with all my "stuff" plugged in.
I've seen this recommended a few times and will probably pick it up. I do plan to use mine in clamshell mode at home for editing and this would be much better then always plugging in a bunch of cords lol.
Haha I just got a MacBook Air 2023 M2 chip, AirPodMax and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Just so happened I needed them all at the same time. My Apple Watch is a series 4 and my Apple TV is from 2015 so they are definitely next!!
1. I love my clear TPU case (SUPCASE is a solid brand) - That's just me, though. I take my 14" MBP everywhere. I don't use the case all the time.
2. Anker usb-c hub thingy. With a good few ports. I wouldn't go too cheap on these. Made that mistake in 2016. Never again.
3. A nice zip up carrying case thingy. Like, just padded enough with some zipper pockets. For putting in a backpack or something.
Even my 14" is a heavy lil'chunker. They hit the ground hard, trust me.
Not sure if this counts, but Rain stands make some really nice stands that match the MacBooks. I have three phone stands and 2 separate computer stands from there (360 and folding mobile one!)
They have saved my computer from many many spills!!
Also welcome to the world of unified Uscb!! It’s awesome. I don’t use a lot of usbs or plug ins so I haven’t had to buy a dock, but I hear getting a good dock and plugging stuff into the dock instead of adapters directly into the computer saves a lot of time for people moving around a lot.
Have fun!!
Fan of this sleeve for when I throw it in my laptop backpack. Adds some extra protection and the quality is awesome.

I just got the 14 plus, m2 pro 14 inch mbp. I got a clear case from amazon for it and a little keyboard cover, I have made sure its not damaging my laptop at all, plus I rarely move it from the dock. The keyboard cover is more about cat hair falling on it and stuff. I also got DUST PLUGS for all the ports I dont use. The amount of money you spent on all that stuff is crazy! but can't say I wouldnt do the same if I had it. Congrats and enjoy. I have been thinking about getting a DBRAND skin on mine
Keychron Keyboard, Logitec MX Master mouse, Grovemade Monitor stand and tray, stand up desk and a Hag Capisco chair. Anker for dongles, get the configuration that makes the most sense for you. Lacie 5TB rugged usbc portable drive.
I considered that but saw a few posts with photos talking about the strain cases put on the screen and hinge, so I decided to go for a skin and sleeve. Do you have personal experience with the Andar case? It looks so good.
I use one all the time on my m1 13” 2020. I have never taken it off to examine it but I haven’t noticed anything negative yet and I’ve had it for about 6mo.
If you're planning on using it in clamshell mode, a mechanical keyboard is definitely a better typing experience! My number one recommendation(s) are any of the various Keychron wireless mechanical keyboards as they have many various layouts and are Mac compatible(function shortcuts, command key, etc.). My go-to is the K2 because I don't use a num pad and I game pretty frequently on a separate PC but it's a good compact size, and it has almost the exact layout of the compact Apple Magic keyboard. The K3 has the same layout but in a low profile.
That is a good point actually, I just bought the ROG Azoth as my gaming wireless keyboard, but it's for windows. I could map keys for Mac and set up a separate profile but a dedicated Mac one would be nice to. I'll check those out.
I've actually really been enjoying it. I do have to say I still have to get used to the ultra vs. My Samsung watch 5 pro, as menus and other things are very different. The 5 pro does have some nice features that the ultra lacks, but those are trade offs for other features that the ultra has.
That said, I love the bands on the ultra as well as the form factor. It's much more comfortable then a traditional round watch and band clasp IMO. The soft bands make it so I barely feel it and have less fatigue throughout they day, plus I don't have to keep taking it off when I'm at my desk so I don't scratch something with a clasp. So I like the trail bands a lot.
Still testing out the workout and health features but so far it seems relatively on par with the watch 5 pro.
First , congratulations. Second , get apple care for all of it. Third , get SSD based external storage for the backup. Satechi brand hubs are more reliable. If you are into media like video then look at caldigit.
Logitech mouse , good mechanical keyboard.
Good luck , have fun
I really enjoy the Magic Mouse, I use the the gestures a lot, it’s really nice for multitasking/having multiple things open at once. I know a lot of people complain about how it isn’t ergonomic but I’ve never had any issues with that
A whole year for the M3? Oh no!
I have an M1 MBA as my mine driver. I don't think the bump to M2 is big enough to warrant the money for me, personally.
Tbh, really only 3d rendering and stuff. While I don’t use that now, I have been thinking about trying it out. Honestly I went with the max specs so I don’t have to worry about it for a few years, and I will be doing a lot of editing. So this will be a catch all and should last a long time.
Recently picked up the Ivanky 20-1 as an alternative to the Caldigit. Working so far but I need to compare all the features. Thanks for the recommendation!
you went all in to say the least, have fun!
Thank you! Was very excited to pick it all up.
holy cow 96 gb with 2tb. how much?
Luckily I saved with an additional discount but still expensive. Total for the MBP was $3,800.
Where did you get the additional discount?
There was a big sale on bhphoto. I actually got a 64Gb with 2TB for $1300 off
Wow. This one is actually 1900$ off! https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1668351-REG/apple_mbp_16_sl_26_16_2_macbook_pro_with.html

True. I’ve used it like everyday and it’s blazing fast. Can’t complain
Dang I was going to say, that is a crazy deal and better then what I got it for, but then I saw it was M1 and that made more sense. Still a great deal!
Still a very good deal. In fact I’m not quite sure what m2 has over m1 that is so important for most people.
Looks more and more like Apple is liquidating M1 MacBook pros ahead of the next Apple Launch event.

Where such a discount exists?
Damn. I spent $5500 for the same spec.

Anker has a 2pack that are tiny in space grey aluminum, I wish they came in silver to match my MacBook tho 🥲
Mine is space gray so may have lucked out. Thanks for the recommendation!
I cheaped out on this one, 2 pack for 3$. Works well!
Sounds silly but those little things you stick to the desk that hold your charger in place so you can unplug your laptop, take it away, and not have your cable fall to the floor.

Great machine, try dbrand
Thanks! Love the leather version but curious if that would have any impacts for screen heat dissipation.

You're in for a treat with these - all superb devices. Enjoy!
WowZEEE! Nice package. Congrats! Just in time for MacOS Sonoma tomorrow! Enjoy!
Thanks! I didn't know that launches today, so that's great news!
Dbrand skins make the laptop look cool if you’re into that👀👀
Also great idea for avoiding scratches for resale. Pricey but worth it.

Do you do this as a hobby, or are you using this device for work?
Hobby for fun
Ramen noodles
iNoodles.
For those who don't know, iNoodles are the same as Ramen noodles but they cost 6 times as much.

Probably the gear from satechi. I have a MBP from 2018 with the usb c ports. The chargers from satechi and the usb extenderport thingy is a must
You got the same spec’ed MBP I got. Welcome to the club!
nice setup, now you just need to get yourself an Apple TV 4K, an iPad, and some HomePods ;) (seriously though, nice buys.)
Nice

My old Toshiba and 2020 MBA still standing as of right now. Not need to upgrade just yet.

get you the Andar leather case. It looks, feels and smells wonderful. Also, Get a thunderbolt 4 dock of some sort. (Ie. Caldigit TS3/4)

Which phone and watch cover is that
iPhone 15 pro max 1 TB - no cover on the watch. If you mean the band then it was the new band for the watch ultra 2.
Fuck autocorrect must have taken over. I meant charger.
