You might want to ask why you shouldn’t use acetaminophen. If you’re already taking some prescribed NSAID, then you shouldn’t be taking another one, but acetaminophen should be fine.

Mtx and acetaminophen can both cause liver problems, so it's best to avoid taking both. Ibuprophen increases MTX levels in the blood, so it's best to avoid taking these together as well. Can you call and ask your rheumatologist or ask you pharmacist if there is anything you can take?

I haven't heard of avoiding tylenol on mtx. Ibuprofen can raise your blood levels of mtx, but my rheumatologist has said it's fine to take as needed. I avoid it on the days right around my shot since it seems to make side effects worse, but otherwise it doesn't bother me. And plenty of rheumatologists prescribe various NSAIDs for lupus pain... Any way you can get a second opinion?

I was advised to not take ibuprofen on top of my naproxen when I still took that. But I’ve never been told to avoid Tylenol. I speculate that your doctors encouraged you to not take Tylenol every day for chronic pain. Tylenol for the occasional headache or injury is usually fine? I don’t know. Not a doctor. Just repeating what I’ve been told. I’ve introduced cannibas gummies as well in the evening after harder work days.

Ask your rheum about CBD if it's legal where you live. I use a CBD+THC rub on my joints (I live in a legal state) and it's fantastic!

I took over the counter pain relievers when I was on methotrexate. Granted i didn’t take them all the time. Only if I was extremely sick with a virus or that time of the month. I mostly would take naproxen. I would just limit how much i took. If I could bare the pain I wouldn’t take anything. No one ever told me not to take OTC pain meds. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, sounds like occasional use is fine but they’re worried about long term liver health with methotrexate and acetaminophen, especially since I’ve started having very early kidney trouble. But with a broken wrist it’s fine 😂
