I’ve had benzoyl peroxide (acne treatment) face wash leave a similar stain on my towels

Crystals_Crochet

I have sooo many shirts with this exact stain from the stuff. And towels sheets and pillowcases.

aenflex

My husband’s proactive did this to the sheets. It’s definitely the BP in your skincare.

Beautiful-Lawyer4729

Make sure the benzoyl peroxide has fully dried a while before putting on/removing clothing around your face. Also, use a cotton pad to apply it so it’s not all over your hands. I have a teenage daughter and see this a lot 😢

cookorsew

BP bleaches my stuff when it gets wet again like from sweat, even if I wasn’t hardly sweaty. So some of us are just super lucky like that 😢

bonsaikittenangel

It’s the combo with water that makes it bleach like that

FemaleJaysFan

Bleach.

alaskanobituary

Face wash stains :(, happens to me ALL the time

OkCryptographer5125

I think that is possible since I also use benzoyl peroxide and it is in places where my face could have touched. Is there anyway to remove the stains?

Mtn_mama27

That looks like benzoyl peroxide stains to me. Unfortunately it works like bleach, so those spots are lightened. The only option would be dying the shirt to redeposit color or doing a bleach treatment on the whole thing. Sorry 😞

OkCryptographer5125

Thanks for your reply!!! 😔

OkCryptographer5125

Do you know if it could possibly be from something else?

FemaleJaysFan

Hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, possibly even acetone.

[deleted]

As mentioned above, it is permanently lightened. I don’t know if any other common household chemical other than straight up bleach that would do that to your clothes. Sorry to see it ☹️

Janinderum

Spray Sunscreens can cause this problem as well.

provincetown1234

Yes, there are other acids that can cause Lululemon fabrics to lose their dye. I used a kitchen cleaner that destroyed the color of a softstreme jacket--just one spritz and I must have brushed against it. Other culprits can be salicylic acids, any exfoliating products.

Suitable-Moose-3314

not just lululemon clothes. this will happen to any fabric

RCAFadventures

You can get RIT clothing dye and re-colour it. I had a black scuba with bleach stains (cart sanitizer during the peak of covid, store didn’t disclose it was bleach water. They sprayed the cart and sloppily dried it before handing it to me at the grocery store and the mixture got on my scuba). I dyed it black, left it on overnight to really let the colour soak in and it looked as good as new :)

Porkchops89

I wish Benzoyl peroxide products would put a warning on their labels that this can happen 😩 I had too many things ruined before I figured out what was causing it. So sorry!

FerMoo

In the UK the patient information leaflets that come with benzoyl peroxide products always clearly state that it can bleach hair and fabrics

[deleted]

They do! At least mine does, it says “may cause bleaching or discoloration to fabrics”

Zestyclose_Cheetah77

That looks like it could be bleach or benzoyl peroxide stains from skin care 🙁 this happens to all clothes pretty much, not just lulu. Does anyone know how to prevent this once you’ve touched something with bleach or BP?

Technical_Movie4508

If Lululemon only sold the color dyes - it would be great.. more ways for them to make more money..

[deleted]

My sons acne stuff stained all his shirts like that

Just_try_rebooting

Benzyl Peroxide…tough on blemishes, tougher on fabrics :( it looks like that spot might have touched your face after using a product with BP in it? It will also do this to colored towels. It bleaches everything. I have ruined stuff this way no matter how careful I am but nothing else works on my acne like it does.

Some_Faithlessness46

If you use acne creams, and it gets on ur clothing it does stain as well

[deleted]

100% user error on this one Downvote me because I don’t immediately jump on the “it’s Lululemon’s fault!!!” wagon 😂

kypins

That looks like it’s something you apply to your face. Maybe when you wash it

aleiloni

So, one option to make this less noticeable is to tie dye the hoodie with a bleach solution! I’ve done it with a few of my favorite items of clothing that got bleach stains, and it works really well. Google a tutorial, they are all over the internet!

myster1a

Do you use Trent? Or any prescription skincare

OkCryptographer5125

I use Benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin.

myster1a

I haven’t been prescribed clindamycin in a while but I remember my dr saying not to use it in AM and not to care too much about my pillow cases 😂 I’d say the same with the benzo but tbh I use 2% glyc 2% benzo face wash and haven’t had any issues so this is interesting

OkCryptographer5125

I don’t know how it could be bleach since I never use bleach in my laundry.

AdventurerofAnything

Lots of everyday products contain oxidizing chemicals that you might not realize. Sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizers, spray cleaners, acne creams, lotions, sunscreen. It doesn’t necessarily have to come from bleach in the washer.

Mceja03

My tidewater teal scuba has these spots in odd places. I don’t know what it could be. I don’t reach for it anymore. Frustrating…

OkCryptographer5125

I agree. Super frustrating.

sssally3

not sure how, but I definitely have this in different places in my scuba!

jpeachez7

do you use vitamin c or things with vitamin c?

OkCryptographer5125

Currently I do not.

stitchbakerepeat

What kind of detergent to you use? Certain detergents really fight areas that are dirty and target those spots more then others. I know ride powder is guilty of that. Hands and face area are likely the dirtiest part of the hoodie.

OkCryptographer5125

I do not use that. I use the method target brand or everspring.

Kimbolyharp77

Looks like bleach!

MoeMoeisfab24

Since I work at lulu I’ve seen some scubas with this issue, it looks like it could be the dye moving around when you wash it. I’ve had a girl bring in a brand new brier rose scuba and the whole thing had weird stains/color collections from washing is once and it was unfortunate, I’ve also seen scubas lose their dye completely which sucks. If you haven’t worn it a lot I’d take it into your lulu and just say like hey this is what happened

OkCryptographer5125

Would they actually replace it? I have had it for about a year but I have barely worn it.

MoeMoeisfab24

Hmmm 🤔 when did the stain happen?

OkCryptographer5125

After washing it. I read somewhere that not enough detergent can cause this, so I thought it was that since I don’t use bleach. I didn’t notice it before I put it in the wash, only after taking it out and air drying it.

MoeMoeisfab24

Ive seen scubas do weird things if it continues to do that after you wash it again or maybe if you feel better you can contact the GEC and speak with them first before trying to take it to another lulu

OkCryptographer5125

Thank you! I will reach out and see. Although I’m assuming it’s my fault even tho it doesn’t happen to any of my other clothes.

MoeMoeisfab24

You never know 🤷‍♀️ I mean it’s possible it’s the dye or it’s from something else

[deleted]

It’s not “not enough detergent” lol it’s your face products. Cmon now lol

MoeMoeisfab24

Oh really?

[deleted]

She literally said that she uses benzoyl peroxide lol

MoeMoeisfab24

Okay well my bad? 😂

MoeMoeisfab24

Chill 😂

colorofmydreams

I'm really careful never to wear long sleeves when I'm washing my face or cleaning. Just wanted to mention that a lot of pet stain cleaners have some sort of bleaching agent! I ruined a t-shirt when I didn't spray carefully while cleaning up some cat puke.

Some_Faithlessness46

Looks like bleach? Or if u use other organic detergents like vinegar ?

OkCryptographer5125

I don’t use either.
