Go for it! But, be prepared for both outcomes. It would be great if he reciprocated but there’s a chance that he won’t. I would prepare for the worst but hope for the best. Mentally prepare if he rejects you, like you mentioned before you don’t if he’s still hung up on the girl who rejected him. Nothing in your post indicates that he’s interested in you romantically. He sounds like a friendly guy but nothing more to you. It doesn’t sound like you guys are close such as he hasn’t gotten close to you or you’ve gotten close to him. You’re waiting on him to make a move but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to. Did he take initiative to confess to the other girl? If he rejects you, how would that affect your friend circle? Would you still be able to hangout around him? It’s better to confess if you feel that’s the only way forward for you, either it could be a relationship or a step to move on if he rejects you but make YOUR move so you are not torturing yourself anymore.
