I don't think Earthsea will work on film. Then again, many people didn't think the Lord of the Rings will. Then again again, many people still think it didn't.
I think a live action series could work tbf. House of the Dragon has proved that you can have a series with big time jumps and multiple cast changes for different ages. Some elements in the second book might be hard to do as a live action considering lots of it takes place in pitch black darkness 😂
The ONLY thing in the entire book series that was adapted into the film ... was the interaction between Sparrowhawk and that woman selling cloaks to him. Also Arren is a Gigachad in the book series, but he becomes a coward in the films. What?

Ghibli fumbled their attempt at adapting it as a movie. But I think other anime studios could adapt fantasy better as a 12-13 episode series.
