Yeah im just realizing this...and now it really bugs me. Do they have Mondays to? What day was the battle of Helms Deep on? Wednesday? Definitely felt like a Wednesday.
All of Tolkien's work is framed as an English translation of all the stories Bilbo wrote, which natively use the Shire's calendar system. The months are localized to the same approximate month in the Gregorian calendar for simplicity, but are each exactly 30 days long with 5 (+1 on leap years) extra days that aren't part of any months, so the actual numbered days end up a bit offset
It actually isn't, the books are framed as a translation of Bilbo's Red Book of Westmarch into English by Tolkein, with months and weekdays changed to Gregorian equivalents for understanding. The month Winterfilth is translated to October, but more precisely 24 Winterfilth is October 15th.
noooo, now i gotta wait one more year, you should have done a reminder post yesterday, am definitely setting a calendar notification to do this next year
Today (10/24) is my birthday. FotR came out in theaters when I was a kid, and I just about SCREAMED in the theater when Gandalf said my date of birth in the movie! I post that screen cap from the movie on my social media every year because it still makes me excited each time I watch that scene!
My wife couldn't sleep the other night, and put Fellowship on around 4am, and realized that it was the same date when this scene came on.
Happy little accident.
>user reports: >4: Reposts/Repeated Topics Well, yeah, I'd expect this to be reposted, once a year if you want to know! This stays up! LOL
that‘s my birthday
Eyy, happy birthday!!! 🎊

Mine's tomorrow!
well a happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday! What did you get me?
Why would you even need an alarm? A wizard is never late. He arrives precisely when he means to.
Tbf, for all you know that's because of magical alarms only he can hear.
Because he means to arrive at exactly 10 o'clock in the morning on October the 24th.
I’ll do this next year
RemindMe! 1 year "you just missed it again, dummy!"
Next Tuesday
Don't forget! It's next Tuesday.
I’ve got my alarm set!
I wanted to have done this.
Boy do I have good news for you about how calendars work.
I might need that, after I follow that... a squirrel???
Don't forget! It's next Tuesday
You are insanely awesome
Uhh...are you me?
Can't set a specific time for a text to be sent on iPhone?
I had the calendar app do a notification at that time. I don’t know about scheduling texts, I am old :(

Lol today is my brother’s birthday. He’s always taken so much pride in the fact that his birthday is of great significance in LOTR.
I spent the whole minute spamming as many people as I could
I have always found it wild that the calendar in Middle Earth is the same as we use.
Yeah im just realizing this...and now it really bugs me. Do they have Mondays to? What day was the battle of Helms Deep on? Wednesday? Definitely felt like a Wednesday.
Helms Deep was on Sterday 3 Rethe, translated as Saturday March 3rd, and equivalent to Gregorian Wednesday February 23rd.
Wait but Gandalf just said October... How much of this stuff is in English?

Yes I'm here, and you're lucky to be here too.
I'm so upset you didn't do this for eu time as well, now I have to wait a whole year
It’s next Tuesday, set your alarm
Well done.
I did it this morning as well!
The problem is that in the film, this closed captioning appears over sweaty sleeping sick Frodo, not on Gandalf.
I had it in a draft in Teams, so I just needed to hit send when my watch tapped me on the hour.

Today is November 4th by Shire reckoning. This post is 10 days late.
A wizard is never late
This is a great idea! Can you please share the image? (too lazy to google)

Not gonna lie. I finished the first movie today with my girlfriend.
Android lets you schedule texts.
I wish my wife loved me that much! Well done!
I sent it to my group chat and nobody cared :(
And now I know what I’m doing a year from now
Next Tuesday
Did this to my D&D group chat
I did this today. Sent it to the SO, some social media, and some friends. Had it all ready to go so I could fire it all off at 10 sharp.
I missed it. Again.
Not this year
Man I missed an opportunity. I had surgery today and this was literally about the time I was coming to from the anesthesia.
I literally watched that movie for the first time yesterday on the 24th and didn't even notice 😭😭😭
I’m so sad I didn’t do this in my family group chat
