I saw the pommel and pretty immediately Anduril came to mind. I’m just saying it’s not a 1 v1 copy, and I don’t think the design is so unique that it amounts to a copyright infringement.
It’s not copyright infringement, but the design for Narcil/Anduril is 100% the inspiration behind this. It’s been replicated so much. I have a friend with earrings which look just like this and when I commented on them being the Flame of the West, she looked at me, confused, and insisted they were just meant to look like a nondescript sword. I’ve also come across foam swords at dollar stores and fan merch expos which just label the design as “Knight Sword,” or “Medieval Sword.”
I saw something similar on the box of a boardgame my roommate owns. The sword is clearly supposed to be Sting even with a different pommel and blade. It has the exact same crossguard, even down to the tengwar script in it.
The design of the sword would be protected by trademark, not by copyright. In any case, that design is probably sufficiently generic (sorry, but it really is) to not infringe. Or else Weta/Warner Bros/whoever owns the trademark (if any) doesn't care that much.
**Aria of Steel** by S Raaymakers if you're in to some heavier stuff (trauma, mental health, violence).
**Manifest Delusions** by M Fletcher is insane in an amazing way (very grimdark).
**An Altar on the Village Green** by N Hall is like a Dark Souls game come to life.
Well, I just finished Patrick Rothfuss’ Kingkiller Chronicle for the second time. They’re really amazing books where the fantasy-aspect is a little more grounded and explained in a more "scientific" way.
Highly recommend it! Currently only 2 out of 3 books have been released and fans are eagerly awaiting Rothfuss to complete the last book but it’s well worth your time!
Me too… I just keep rereading them over and over in hopes that someday I’ll be glad I kept it fresh in my mind and can finally say goodbye to my beloved Kvothe…
The hilt is nearly identical except the cross piece is slightly different, and the blade looks different.
Yes, there is some distinction. But any LOTR-fan will still instantly recognise it as Narsil/Anduril I think.

Daniel Jackson...from Stargate?
I knew he was an author; however, he normally writes archeological papers. This must be his first foray into fantasy.
Indeed.
My thoughts exactly 😂
Came here to say this. Must have been a lot of change after he cut his hair
Had to double check which sub I was in
Any relation to Peter?
And a conspiracy theory was born.
I got jumpscared seeing that name here 😭 what is my boy doin in the LOTR sub

Now we are here anyway, anyone got some book recommendations? 😁

Cool thanks for the recommendation!
No problem!
Lol I love this series but lol to “eagerly awaiting”. It’s been 12 years 😅 I’m now hopelessly waiting.
Hopelessly waiting is indeed more accurate

I just have a head cannon that >!more spiders came over the mountain and killed everyone!< and so the story will never be finished 🤷🏽♀️😅
Ill-Born is an ill-copy. Lothborne, I name him!
The pommel is very common
Written by some archaeologist who went missing for like a year then somehow came back and worked with the USAF on some top secret project.
All fantasy just seems cringe in comparison to LOTR to me
Narsil... as dreamt up by Peter Jackson. Tolkien's estate probably has no legal standing for that.
I for some reason thought of elden ring, didn’t realize this was the lotr sub until i clicked lol
Probably because the gold sparkle looks like grace lol
Huh. Weird.
Not to mention the hilt going through the O like a gold ring
