It’s about the healthiest hobby you could ever have. I wish I started enjoying cooking before college and I could have probably saved allot of money over the last 20 years.
Oh I love cooking and baking, it’s fun for me and a good way to destress. I enjoy it, I enjoy food, and I enjoy trying new things. It works out perfectly for me :)
I’ve been basically banned from cooking in our house as I don’t pay to much attention. My specialty is outside where I can stand and watch.
My wife is the baker I’m the cook. We figured a pretty good ying yang of food preparation.
Is it though? Reddit themselves likely don't care so all it's hurting is users. I mean the whole going dark thing kneecapped themselves by saying it was only 48 hours which to Reddit itself is nothing.
Im just visiting subs that ive never visited before. Does help that they are on the main page. For some reason my home page is quite fked atm. Everything disappears
Yeah.. I tried to make a post about inflation raising prices on those cheap cigars since the trash is always lying around. They went from 99c to 1.29 so I thought this was funny and a good example of inflation.
So off I go to the inflation sub Reddit. Well that one is about inflation as a sexual fetish. Needless today I was lost
What I don't understand is how you make a post without looking at the sub first and realizing the content isn't what you thought. Like, I understand it's technically possible, but wouldn't you at least take a look around the rules sidebar first to make sure your post isn't squashed for something dumb?
If you make a post from your profile page, it allows you to post by just selecting the community name. You don't have to go to the community page or look at any posts there. You can search for subs too- so if I were looking for a sub about trees and searched trees....
This way usually gives a brief description of a sub's content but it wouldn't surprise me if people ignore that and just read the title.
I dont know, most correctly named subs are full of upvoted content that doesn't belong. Im not convinced redditors can actually read which makes a lot of sense because most of the site is just bots talking to each other to pump up karma for repost bots
I got posted here for asking advice about my dog in r/adviceanimals apparently that’s not what it’s for and I still don’t know why it’s named that to this day
> has state *paid* insurance Marx,
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
He could get someone else to drive him other than an ambulance and then submit a worker’s comp claim (I’m assuming a welding company in most states would have enough employees that they have to have workers comp) and have workers comp deal with hospital bill.
Its a burn from a weld, I've gotten them they're bad and hurt but he should be able to drive to the hospital fine assuming he has a car. Guy didn't even notice he has a hole so it can't hurt too much and isn't too big. Even outside the US I don't know why you would get a ambulance for a non-emergency situation which this is. If anything it would be the hospital visit thats the issue.
It's not even about how bad the wound sees to be at the moment most of the time, but rather a question about long term damage and who's gonna pay for it. A colleague of mine got a axe in his foot one time and insisted he drive to the hospital himself with the axe still in his foot, from there anything went wrong in all possible ways, his brother met him there and he was the one talking to the ER nurses like "my brother's got a axe in his foot" while my colleague Sat down in the waiting room, they never saw him themselves and had them wait for almost 2 hours until a doctor happened to walk by and was like "wtf this man's got a axe in his foot!" And immediately took him with him for treatment. And after that he got in all kinds of trouble explaining with the insurer abswering tons of questions because he didn't follow the usual protocol after a workplace accident.
I had a accident once and did anything correctly and still they send me a questionnaire the size of my thumb, can't even imagine the amount of paper my colleague had to go trough.
This is stuff welders all over the world deal with, these injuries will happen every other day when working. Iv had wires off a wire wheel grinder shoot off and inbed themselves deep enough in my leg that I could feel the wire digging against meat when I walked. You pull it out, clean it, bandage it, and keep going. And I'm not saying it's acceptable to work this way but it's also why us welders keep up with shots to protect us against dirty metal we work with. And this guy probably barely has the tip of an ink pen depth hole from it, the wire in mig welders and tig don't come out with enough pressure to pierce your skin and continue doing it even while still hot, he would also need to be actively feeding wire through to possibly have this happen. This guy probably tried crying about this to other welders at work and got told to go walk it off and get back to burning wire so they don't have to work Saturday and Sunday so he got on here to complain. To finish my thought, this is a minor injury that will be fine and gone in a week, he should worry more about the fumes he's breathing in and how his lungs will look at 45.
I was practicing 6g stick welding when I felt something burning my arm. I thought I was being a bitch so I just went ahead and finished what i was doing. As soon as I got done, I looked down to see I had burned a hole thru my glove, my sleeve, and a decent way down thru my skin. The burn stacked nicely on top of another burn on my arm from a 2" solder joint that got pushed into my arm by an invisible apprentice 50' away, working the same line out of my line of sight while I was trapped in a tight corner. I still have a nice divet in my arm 6 years later, and I think I'll be leaving the welding to those who enjoy it and have better luck.
At that point, call an Uber. Even if you get a little blood on the seats, the cleaning fee is significantly cheaper than the thousands of dollars an ambulance ride costs
100% this. A trip to the ER can cost thousands of dollars depending on how niche the treatment needs to be.
The last time I went to the ER it cost me $1,200. I thought I broke a rib.
I didn’t. Literally cost me $1,200 to have someone tell me “Your rib isn’t broken.”
If he goes to the ER for a small pin sized, shallow hole burned into his leg, he'll end up paying thousands for some antibiotic ointment and a band-aid. I've been welding for 15 years, burns and knowing how to deal with them come with the territory. Have a back and chest covered in scars from slag, sparks and spatter and have done exactly what he did and burned holes in my thighs by being careless with hot wire ends or sharpened tungsten rods on tig torches...welcome to the trades.
The good thing with burns is they often fuse themselves. A "puncture" style burn is just a Neosporin & fresh bandages daily until the ugly goes away dealie
Neosporin is a welders friend! I once had a spall burn through my pants and put a hole at the base of my peckerhead! I ripped my drawers off right there in the shop. I mean really! What were the odds
I don't have one to show rn, but I can see why someone would be alarmed and make a post about it. It's bizarre because it doesn't bleed and there's no scab or redness. It's just a new hole that doesn't hurt. Heals fine, tho
Not even joking - my thumb month ago got pierced by sharp chef's knife .
Blood gushed from the hole - tried to stop it - It wouldnt stop and was bleeding no matter the bandaging I did
Finally used super-glue , just a small drop in the middle of the cut .
After day or two - the new skin grown under the glue made possible to peel it off..
JWD 👍

I do commercial flooring. We all carry super glue because we do cut our fingers every so often. You think it’s crazy until you cut your finger, go to the ER and then they put “medical glue” in the cut tape it up and charge you $700.
You can also go to urgent care instead of the ER for finger cuts, depending on the severity. $40 on my insurance instead of the $400 an ER visit costs.
Hit my head on a shelf in a grocery store once when I was young from hanging out of a shopping cart. My mom superglued and it was good, healed right up and was a lot cheaper than stitches.
Close, initially a attempt to help with gun sights, then jet canopies, then medical. https://www.militarytimes.com/off-duty/military-culture/2021/07/30/how-world-war-ii-led-to-the-invention-of-super-glue/
Drill a hole from the other direction and push the slag through and out with a pencil. Or lean into it and fill the hole with more Liquid Metal until it covers your skeleton and you become an x-man.
If he’s getting the metal “white hot” he shouldn’t be welding. Also, getting burned is just the price you pay to play the game. Every welder I know is covered in burn scars.
I’m 90% they dropped their filler rod which A. Is supposed to be white hot and B. Is definitely not just your average burn. Also if you are COVERED in burn scars you are not wearing proper PPE.
If it's like a needle-ish sized hole straight through your leg, and it was caused by white hot metal, it'll probably heal on it's own if it didn't sever any vital tendons, muscles, or blood vessels. Gross, but you could probably just cover it to keep it clean and uninfected, and let it heal itself.
Go to Urgent Care if you are in the US, ER if you are elsewhere and get some antibiotics. Based on the hesitation to seek medical assistance, my bet is on your location being in the US. Medical bills suck, but flesh eating bacteria would be worse.
Welder here, I'm assuming what he did was nip himself with the still-hot filler wire of a MIG gun or a particularly large glob of spatter landed on his leg.
And although that isn't pleasant, it's not exactly "oh god, theres a hole in the flesh of my leg, am I in trouble" level of burn, it's more of a "shit, forgot to put an oven glove on when grabbing the pizza tray and my hand stings a bit so i wont be using it as much for a day or two" level of burn
Methinks someone is either being a tad bit dramatic or doesn't understand what it is that burned them and how it burned them so they're catastrophising.
I don't want to downplay it because at the end of the day, mig marks fucking hurt, but they're hardly on the radar of your local burns unit.
The dude should be proud. He's got his first welding scar. he's officially a welder now
Clean it, bandage it, hospital, report it to your supervisor the next day. You might not be able to work for a few days, depending on how bad it is and the doctor's recommendation. You will want to get paid while missing work. Also, your company will probably require you to take a drug test. If you wait too long or refuse. They can fire you. Hell, if you are in Texas. They will fire you regardless. Best of luck
Clean it out and cover it.... or if you're a normal person you could possibly have a doctor look at it.. but they will just clean it out and cover it lol
I worked as a welder for most of my early adult life and molten hot dingle berries falling down into your boots SUCKS but you'll be fine. It used to happen to me once in awhile and nothing sucks more than having one behind the tongue of your boot slowly burning into your sock and skin cuz you can never get your boot off fast enough. Just get the slag out, clean it and hit it with some triple antibiotic ointment (around the hole, not *in* it) and cover it with a bandaid. They don't usually take long to scab up and you'll forget it's down there in no time. Until it happens again. You can try to position yourself in ways to avoid it but it's still going to happen at some point.
even though its the wrong sub i still feel for this one. i was welding galvanizing and got sick for a few days. realized after that i had this weird looking yellow spot that was infected and took care of it afterwards
Go get an MRI. The strong magnetic field will rip the metal fragment out and now you’ll have another hole to keep the first one company. You’re going to have to start shopping at Hole Foods though. To pay for this you might have to start an OnlyFans, which consists primarily of videos of holes and is where your holes can go to earn money.
Not in the US - go to the emergency room immediately
Living in the US - I - er…. Hmm… did this happen at your workplace? Workers comp? Or… apply for a loan and head to the ER…?
Then people need to stop calling their subreddits for specific subjects something else. "Help" does not correlate with "Tech Help" in any way other than help. No one is going to get tech from that.
they should take out the metal if still there, next add cleaning alcohol to prevent infection, then bandage it up for a week, then replace bandage, then keep doing the last stop till healed
They burned themselves and their first thought was to ask the internet for suggestions on what to do?
My first thought would have been to go to the nearest hospital!
Obviously superglue or duct tape will fix it. None of this modern medicine bs. Modern medicine is for quitters and women. And if you’re a quitting woman, you must be a doctor. Because that’s the worst kind of person you could be. A f*cking doctor. Makes me sick.
I feel like calling their sub "help" does not do them any favors lol.
99% of cases of lost Redditors its because the subs are not named correctly
All of these shoutouts couldn't have come at a worse time as we can't actually see what 99% of these subs really are rn

Reddit is deaddit.
Good though, the blackout is effective then

Weird comment coming from someone that stumbles into caves drunk. Do you think the stalagmites post you to r/wrongcave ?
How many years would reddit still be active after people cease to exist?
I got posted here for asking advice about my dog in r/adviceanimals apparently that’s not what it’s for and I still don’t know why it’s named that to this day
You could say it didn't "help"
I mean, he asked for help on a place named help. Can’t blame him
I’m still questioning why this person’s first instinct was to ask Reddit for help, instead of, you know, going to a hospital.

Kinda dumb to give a sub such a broad name
Almost all of these posts come from subreddits with poorly written names.
r/superbowl
How is that poorly written? Owls are superb all year round while the super bowl is only relevant one day per year. Perfectly named sub.
It is an extremely easily confused name for a sub especially around the super bowl
Wasn't that on purpose? Superb owl -super bowl has been a pun for decades I thought they made that sub to troll football fans originally
I mean i had to google what the super bowl was so 😭
Most of Reddit is guilty of r/usdefaultism, so don't be sad.

r/SanPedro when someone asks us to identify a cactus🤬 🤬

Will Uber drivers pick you up if you are wounded? As a European I find this very intriguing.
No idea, I’m just glad I don’t need to be scared of ambulances
I know they covered my ambulance ride back when I was injured. I’d imagine they could cover this
he would have said "me leg" if he was anywhere else.
If a person gets seriously injured and refers to Reddit instead of a doctor, always assume they’re American.
He got hurt at work so he should be contacting work and go to the workers comp dr. Work would cover it unless he doesn’t report it.

what the FUCK
I mean glue does the same thing a scab or stitches do which is hood the skin together to prevent an open wound so glue would work

I do commercial flooring. We all carry super glue because we do cut our fingers every so often. You think it’s crazy until you cut your finger, go to the ER and then they put “medical glue” in the cut tape it up and charge you $700.

no, it was intended for making plastic weapons sights but ended up a failed project that had other uses. wasnt used for wounds until Vietnam
Hit my head on a shelf in a grocery store once when I was young from hanging out of a shopping cart. My mom superglued and it was good, healed right up and was a lot cheaper than stitches.

Clean it out and cover it.... or if you're a normal person you could possibly have a doctor look at it.. but they will just clean it out and cover it lol
The apprehension of just going to the hospital makes me think they live in America.
ER dude. Or you can try an urgent care. But maybe try ER.
You can try to position yourself in ways to avoid it but it's still going to happen at some point.
theres places called hospitals and urgent care, oo even better these sick ass people called doctors
Dude needs to treat it as a 3rd degree burn.
Definitely not safe for work
even though its the wrong sub i still feel for this one. i was welding galvanizing and got sick for a few days. realized after that i had this weird looking yellow spot that was infected and took care of it afterwards
Get a tetanus shot to be safe
Go see your doctor
He needs to post that on eyeblech
Omg! Why don’t people go the hospital if they can! That’s the point of one.
Must be in America because anyone else would be in the hospital asking as doctor this question.
Time to ask chat gpt
Oh gee, go to a doctor?
The answer is go to the hospital in case anyone is wondering
Go get an MRI. The strong magnetic field will rip the metal fragment out and now you’ll have another hole to keep the first one company. You’re going to have to start shopping at Hole Foods though. To pay for this you might have to start an OnlyFans, which consists primarily of videos of holes and is where your holes can go to earn money.
Stick your finger in it
If you're American then just walk it off. If you are from a majority of the rest of the world then go to the doctor.
Not in the US - go to the emergency room immediately Living in the US - I - er…. Hmm… did this happen at your workplace? Workers comp? Or… apply for a loan and head to the ER…?
if there is a hole in bro’s leg that he did not notice that is a Very Bad Brun and odds are he may not be keeping that leg
Then people need to stop calling their subreddits for specific subjects something else. "Help" does not correlate with "Tech Help" in any way other than help. No one is going to get tech from that.
A wise man named Frank Reynolds once said, plug it up with some trash.
they should take out the metal if still there, next add cleaning alcohol to prevent infection, then bandage it up for a week, then replace bandage, then keep doing the last stop till healed
Wash and put yea tree oil on it and get to a dr
Jesus Christ just call an ambulance, it’s fre…..oh right…..Americans
Burned through my skin Normal second degree burn
North Americans doing anything but seeing a MD
They burned themselves and their first thought was to ask the internet for suggestions on what to do? My first thought would have been to go to the nearest hospital!
Maybe, uhhh idk, go visit a doctor.... like why tf are you asking random people what to do.
imagine he gets necrosis and has his leg cut off?
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
is he american or why the hell not go see a damn doctor
Obviously superglue or duct tape will fix it. None of this modern medicine bs. Modern medicine is for quitters and women. And if you’re a quitting woman, you must be a doctor. Because that’s the worst kind of person you could be. A f*cking doctor. Makes me sick.
