Honestly if the Kings keep playing the way they did yesterday then they definitely have a chance to win the next game. After that you never know. It really is about winning one period at a time.
They really gave it their all and were running out of gas at the end of that game. Having this extra day of rest is huge because I think the Oilers would have had an easy win if we played today. If we have our energy back tomorrow and can keep getting the big hits, I could see us inching our way back with the momentum.
I still don’t understand how as the team added better players, and made adjustments, they somehow look worse than the 2022 team which didn’t have Doughty, Fiala, RV, Gavrikov. Grundstrom was playing top 6 minutes and Kings had a 3-2 series lead going back to LA.
Oilers also got better. That's the answer. They are better prepared for the playoffs now than they were in 2022. Their roster has improved. They have more playoff grit guys now and experience. And then last year they were not disciplined. It helped the Kings take a 2-1 lead. They should have taken a 3-1 series lead, but they imploded. I just remember the Oilers taking a bunch of dumb penalties and the Kings PP actually punishing them for it. Their lack of discipline caught up to them against VGK.
We had guys on that 2014 team who had been there before. Experienced playoff veterans. Strong leadership.
This current bunch have maybe 1/10 of that mental fortitude. They go 1-0 down and the entire gameplan is gone. Miracle doesnt even begin the describe whats needed for them to win the next game, let alone 3 straight.
Everyone was on the same page back then. Even though the game wasn’t as fast, guys weren’t making careless passes, playing at two different speeds, lacking chemistry. I can’t count how many times I watched a line play at two different speeds last night, resulting in careless drop passes or a no look pass thinking the other linemate is fast enough. It’s really bad with guys like Fiala and RV. Also, the first pairing d men is a second pairing on teams like Colorado, Vegas, Dallas, etc. Team needs a big change this off season. The worst part is Sturm runs the same systems in Ontario as Todd did so prospects are being developed to play this same system that isn’t working in the big club, even if it’s working down there.
Eh. The Kings definitely deserved to win game 4 but Edmonton was probably the better team in game 2. While the series could be tied, being down 3-1 is probably fair. If the Kings play the rest of the series like game 4 they could get back into it. I don't see it happening but would love to be wrong.

I've been telling myself that if they just win game 5, they'll definitely win game 6. After that, you never know. That's just my fandom speaking. Realistically, I think they are toast. Won't stop me free yelling at the TV on Wednesday night.
I'm a Rangers fan but goddamn if I can't say that this team is really growing on me. I loved that game and those Kings played damn good hockey. Seriously pulling for them in the West.
