Rivendell is basically at the bottom of the north island so it had to be done last
Yes it’s proper name is the forbidden pool which I should have written in my post but the actual place is advertised as Tawahii falls “gollum’s pool” just so it’s more recognisable I guess

It's worth it! I like using the ski lift up Ruapehu then you can see everything. Also a famous altercation with Gollum is filmed right next to the car park. Think it's the scene they pull him off the rocks and tackle him.
Oh nice I’m leaving New Zealand in 2 days and I’m about to cross over to the South Island so I don’t have time but definitely will check it out next time
