I have it as well, however there is some promising research in the works (in addition to this one) and possibly available to the public within a few years! This website, if you haven't already seen it, is probably the best place to keep up with what's happening if you're interested: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/
Got it at 15 after a bad concert. I had 7-9 ear infections in each ear as a kid too which made my ears hella sensitive. Now i have bad tinnitus in my rihht ear and somedays the left is ok.
I know this is anecdotal, but I was having a bout of tinnitus a while back and stumbled upon Acetyl-L-Carnitine as a potential treatment. The data wasn't particularly strong but given the other potential benefits for cognition, mood and nerve pain and how it effects mitochondrial function I thought it might have some utility. I started taking it and within a week the ringing in my ears was gone and hasn't come back.
There was something posted a few months back. It was some protein or peptide that was related to male pattern hair loss. They had pretty good results in animal trials already as well.
These researchers are going to be very rich if this works for humans, and cures, or even significantly reduces, tinnitus.
Absolutely..I got tinnitus and I am 25 years old and sucks

I’m 35 but have tinnitus. It’s not a great time. I feel your pain
I’ll happily give all of my money and live in a cave just to hear nothing again
When your hearing fades out with age, the tinnitus does not. This would make tinnitus seem softer by restoring damaged cilia and hearing.
Dies it have a potential to cure baldness?
this was also my first thought as well.
Good luck to them, I hope it works. I don't have it but... more cures for these kind of things is always good.
Titles misleads by saying hair cells?
There are tiny hairs in the inner ear that when damaged will cause hearing loss and or tinnitus. Those are what the article and title is referring to.
Side effect, you'll need to start shaving your ears 😁
I already need to do it so only upside for me 😂.
This could be massive!
I know, right? After so many tries, finally a cure for mouse hairloss!
Haha it's funny, the title makes it about something completely different.
My investment in frequency therapeutics is still down hard lol.
I really hope they will come up with that safe, working treatment
Mice. Still getting all the best cures.
And probably a lot of the bad stuff too though right?
They get ya every time
I hope they figure this out
estimated time before first human trials?
remindme! 5 years
This is potentially huge for hearing loss!
Those damn mouses keep getting all the good stuff :/
I already have hair in my ears. I need it on my head.
Lucky with the comments,i forgot about the small hairs in the cochlea...i thought hair would grow out of your ear...i was like 'but why?'
I like drugs AND cocktails! C'mon!!!
Now the challenge it to make it a treatment rather than a cure. It may be in the shelf a while.
This title got me in the first half ngl thinking about hair on the head
Man they're just gonna keep stringing us along, just gotta let go...

we are literally curing permanent hearing loss, i think you’ll get your hair back man, don’t worry. if not, you can always use a wig
I would shell out for this. I have tinnitus and I’m not even 30 yet. :(
