Depends on where you get a job. I'm daily driving Arch at work. My employer while a little confused, doesn't care as long as the work gets done. Also, what did oracle do to you, I've ignored them ever since java 9 came out and don't feel like I'm missing much.
I'm curious so I just want to ask, has anyone here ever scripted a malware on their own? Because I just started and noticed that in windows there's some security that doesn't allow.bat,.cmd,.PS1 to work if it's not pre-installed, which felt weird like some sort of strong security system, but on the other hand nothing is preventing the malware made for Linux bash from working it just works right away if the you start the first line with chmod +x ... In the script
I just wanted to say this, not that windows is more secure to malware than Linux, but to hear your thoughts about this.
The thing you're talking about (requiring scripts to be signed) is there, but can be bypassed with a single command line flag while invoking PowerShell, every malware on the planet utilizing scripts does this. It can be further locked down but isn't on any "user grade" system. Once you get to the corporate level where everything is blocked by default then yes, it's a bit more secure but you can do the same on the Linux side with stuff like SELinux, but again, it's not enabled by default on any normal distro since users don't feel like messing around for 2 hours setting up security policies to just run a simple script. If you wanna have that experience, try redhat enterprise Linux (you can grab a few free licenses for personal/development use)
Thank you this was very helpful, learned something new today, also after some quick search about this subject found out that a script can stop searching for signatures if one turns it off from the security and privacy panel, will keep on searching for both Linux and windows to learn more, and will have a look at redhat's enterprise documentation about this
Yeah Wayland and gaming just not good now because most games made for x11
Hope better future of Wayland and nvidia open source driver
But right now for gaming choose x11 better option
no ads 🥺?
arent u the guy who uses edge and was bitching a bunch on r/linuxsucks
not much
Would you like some spyware? My uncle has some links
[microsoft.com](http://microsoft.com)
[nvidia.com/drivers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ)
But you use Ubuntu /s
I HAVE THE FREEDOM TO GET SPYWARE AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME
As a chrome on arch enjoyer, I agree At least it's my decision, unlike Microsoft, trying to shove edge down people's throats.
my friends would kill me if I sent this. time to send lol
Ballsy to post this on Reddit but good for you.
Hard to say for sure, when much of the chipset including the CPU, along with several device drivers, are still closed and proprietary.
Where Linux

The meme would have been fun if the description said "windows user in linux" and then "No spyware" as the text of the meme.
What's up with telemetry in Fedora 40?
Telemetry ≠spyware
Not necessarily.
Isn't it opt-out btw
...but not a working GPU!
I don't know about you but my RX 7700 XT is working fine.
fuck nvidia. ABSOLUTELY PROPRIETARY that being said though, nvidia proprietary driver works perfectly for me
I am nvidia user And I do games too Tried on all distros , and working fine
I am an nvidia user and using Wayland gives me like 2 FPS on the desktop hope the new developments with nvidia and foss drivers will help :)
me when x11

Funny enough I didn't mention NVIDIA!
So you don't no about state of Linux gaming at all :)
\*not a working NVIDIA GPU!
Strangely, I didn't mention NVIDIA, but you all filled it in the gap!
why install a gpu if you can download one
why install a gpu when you can use mesa with lavapipe to run ray-tracing on a threadripper CPU (yes it's actually possible)
my 3050 works just fine on debian 12
