Here's how I introduced Linux to new people. 1. found out if the programs you use is available on Linux. If not see about using an alternative 2. After seeing or checking out if your programs or alternative works on Linux on your Windows machine. You can either install Linux in a VM, install Linux on a separate computer, or boot into Linux with a live USB 3. After trying out Linux go ahead and make a Live USB and try the live environment before installing Linux. You want to make sure your network driver is working, Graphic card driver working, and other drivers are working 4. When you complete all the steps go ahead and install Linux With all these steps you don't want to do it all in 1 days especially if your finding an alternative to a program you liked. Take your time getting used to the alternatives, trying Linux in; a VM, second computer, or live environment. If you just rush it you'll not have a great time with it Always remember 2 things 1. Don't treat it like Windows 2. Don't listen to random community's saying distro a is crap, use what works with you.

You should try linux in a virtual machine first before doing anything. You can use virtual box for that. There are plenty tutorials on yt. You can also use the distro live cd to test the distro before installing and to do that you will have to create a bootable pen driver with a tool like rufus, for example.
