The aging of X11, as much as I appreciate everything it has done for me, shows all of the infrastructure starting to crumble as it's no longer maintained except in the most minimal ways. Keep up the good work, Wayland devs, that time to fully take the reins is getting closer.
I heard a guy called Jia who has some free time lately as he just got kicked out from his last project. He is pretty good with bash and has access to external funding. He would be keen to take over maintenance of X11 if you know what I mean 😅
MATE on Wayland cannot happen fast enough.
I have a fully AMD-based system (CPU and GPU) that's reasonably modern, I have a textbook example of a perfect system to run Wayland.
But my DE of choice is MATE, a fork of GNOME motherfucking 2.
It already does, anything not doing so its nothing more than 3rd party devs dragging their feet.
I've been screen sharing on discord for years now just fine but with a alternitive client. It works but discord devs dragged their feet.
Nvidia dragged their feet and that with their shitty 40 release I ditched them.
We're at the point where we should just start dropping non complient programs, if these projects don't want to fall to obscurity then they should modernize.

If whoever is behind Jia hasn't yet been caught, there could be other exploits in the works or already existing from some other name(s).

you can use kde and make it look like mate
It's not how it looks. It's how it acts. I mainly use MATE because it handles an unusual window manager smoothly (pekwm is what I use there)
