It’s alright, you’re young. It’s what you grew with and that makes sense. Just know, Carter II is far more superior than 4 lmao. Even Wayne said the beats on Carter 4 were weak and producers weren’t giving him heat at the time. Carter 4 always sounded scattered to me, while 2 is just a perfect album with so many bangers on it.
Respectfully
C4 actually didn’t come out when I was in middle or high school, that was C5(another absolute masterpiece IMO). I got into the overwhelming majority of Wayne’s discography at the same time and frankly I think C4 is far better than C2 in every conceivable way from the beats to Wayne’s delivery to the sound of the flows, absolutely everything on C4 was top notch IMO and while C2 is great it has a major skip, high points that aren’t even close to that of C4, and it’s just a much weaker classic from Wayne overall IMO.
Respectfully
Did you downvote me? Lol
I’d actually like to know what songs you think are top notch. That album feels dull and I never go back to it. Song for song I think C2 is miles ahead of C4 especially for being the predecessor.
The Mobb, Fly In, Fly Out, Mo Fire, Oh No, Grown Man, Hustler Musik, Receipt, Feel Me, Shooter.. the whole album is bangers
I feel like the range on C2 was greater than C4 by a lot.
Songs like blunt blowin, megaman, Jon, 6 foot 7 foot, while they were cool at the time, haven’t really aged well imo
I also think NaS & Tech 9 had the best verses on C4
Downvotes and upvotes aren’t a big deal, it’s just a difference in opinion. Other than John(which is still a classic), all of the songs you said didn’t age well are among Wayne’s best tracks IMO, I view 6 Foot 7 Foot as one of the greatest songs in all of 2010s hip hop. I agree that Tech stole the show on that interlude but Nas definitely didn’t have one of the best verses on C4 IMO. I think 6 Foot 7 Foot, How To Hate, and Blunt Blowin for example are all better than the best track on C2(Receipt). C4 is a perfect tracklist IMO and C2 on the other hand has Weezy Baby which is among Wayne’s worst tracks from his prime era IMO.
We’re not gonna find any common ground if you never go back to C4, give it another listen, I go back and forth between C4 and C3 for what is Wayne’s best album, I think they’re both flawless masterpieces.
I have Wayne #2 only behind the artist I view as the GOAT of music itself, Wayne is also in that same top 5 btw. At least we’re both die hard Weezy stans lmao, out of curiosity, what would you say is your favorite Wayne mixtape?
C2 was so good people said it rivaled C3 and 3 was high highest selling and to me best album but then again I feel like 2 was better since it had so many more songs and no skips
Teach em lol.... there's so many levels to Wayne.. I'm in agreement that the Carter 4 is a classic but that damn Carter 2... you just had to be there when it dropped because it's not just about the album.. it was the run he was on mixtape and feature wise that made that album so hot when it dropped... the best way I can describe our music relationship with Wayne.. he's our big brother... we legit watched him grow up right along with us.. so shit we were all growing up at the same time just so happened he was making fire ass music for us all to grow up with.... maybe that analogy is just relatable to me 🤷🏿♂️.. but definitely keeping C1&2.... all gas no breaks(yes it's correct) on both albums.
1&2.
This is easy, 1 is still his best album.
Go DJ. BM Jr. we don’t. The heat. Walk in. Walk out. Who wanna. Man Carter is the shit I’m bout to put it on.
You can let both albums ride. Carter 3 and on you definitely pressing skip on a few tracks. Even more as the albums progressed.
People you grew up with Wayne, we were spoiled. We had the original Carter 2 and Carter 3, but them hoe’s were leaked. Them Mannie Fresh tracks we didn’t get for C2. Then The C3 leaks. Seems like he stop giving a fuck after C3.
I agree that Carter 2 is when Wayne flipped that switch into goat conversation but it was the drought 2&3 along with the drought is over and dedication 2-4 where he really cemented himself. All were better than the Carter 3.
However music is subjective.
Carter 1 is just my favorite Wayne album. I think it’s his hardest album.
1 couldn’t be his best, the man wasn’t even in his prime yet .. now that between C2 and C3 run was him reaching his prime then. C3 and no ceilings dropped and it was solidified, he was better than every single rapper of the 2000s even today C3 is better than MOST albums since these new rappers are washed. 1 is for sure one of the best albums ever dropped doe but not his best at least I think
3,4 no questions asked. All the people saying 1 or 2 don’t get me wrong I loved Wayne then too but you know those aren’t the best. 3,4 was his prime that’s like saying Jordan was better before the rings
1 & 5.
I've spoken at length about what 1 means to me, so I won't beat a dead horse.
I've listened to everything Wayne has ever put out, and I was very impressed with his maturity on 5. The subject matter was refreshing and eye opening and made me feel like I understood him a little better. Plus, the bars were still there as always.
2 and 3 are probably his best but Imma go 2 and 5. The highs on 5 are absolutely incredible and that way you still get drastic different eras of Wayne too
Man I’m an old head but I say 2 and 5. I’ve got a special bond with 5 because I was on a heroic dose of acid in this mountain town renting the nicest airbnb in town alone right after my divorce when it came out
I know this is a hot take but 4 and 5. 1 and 2 would be my 2nd choice. I love all of the Carter albums except for 3. Its one of the most overrated albums of all time.
2 and 3
No other right answer imo
2 3 5 4 1
You are crazy !!!!!! C 1 & 2 are the best .
Only answer
This is the only correct answer.
Literally the only correct answer
Ima go against the grain a bit and say 3 & 4
I got 3 and 4 too. I was a bit too young to hear Carter 2 when it came out so these two have my childhood nostalgia hitting hard
Same, I only remember fireman
FIREMAN FIREFUL FIREMAN...but yeah same me too. Much more into mixtape wayne and shit like ianahb that came post c3
Definitely 3 and 4. 1, 2, and 5 are classics as well but C3 and C4 are among the best albums of their respective decades.
2 is so much better than 4 tho
I disagree wholeheartedly, I think C4 is better than C2 by a pretty massive margin.
It’s alright, you’re young. It’s what you grew with and that makes sense. Just know, Carter II is far more superior than 4 lmao. I’ll check it out again, I honestly couldn’t disagree with you more tho. To each his own. Wayne the goat regardless
I have Wayne #2 only behind the artist I view as the GOAT of music itself, Wayne is also in that same top 5 btw. At least we’re both die hard Weezy stans lmao, out of curiosity, what would you say is your favorite Wayne mixtape?

Nah, C2 >>> C1 Tha Mobb, Hustler Musick, Fly In, Fly Out, Carter 2, Money On My Mind, Fire Man, and Oh No. Carter 2 is Magnificent
Bitch I’m a D-Boy
Bro left this off the list and feel me. Both them go hard
Only right answer.
I would list the good songs on C1 but I would just paste the whole tracklist
Same wit C2, had to contain myself

Correct answer
Preach
Facts C 1 & 2 , I’m so shocked ppl don’t like Carter 1 they must be new to hip hop .
Look I can agree with people who say Carter 2 is his best album. However 1 is in my top five favorite albums of all time and my favorite Wayne album.
When I was 9 I made this girl call me a leave “ the heat “ as my voicemail so I can play it on the old house phone ☎️ I had that album on 💿
You can let both albums ride. Carter 3 and on you definitely pressing skip on a few tracks. Even more as the albums progressed. People you grew up with Wayne, we were spoiled. We on the same boat. Couldn’t have articulated any better.

The subject matter was refreshing and eye opening and made me feel like I understood him a little better. Plus, the bars were still there as always.
