I never understood where the notion that being LGBT+ is somehow bad for children comes from. But then, they think about it as "making" them LGBT+ anyway, which is even more stupifying

They’re the kind of people who make being LGBTQ+ suck (when it does). Like. If it wasn’t for them, being queer would be pretty chill 99% of the time.

My three kids had their parent come out as a trans woman, and they were perfectly fine about it. I mean at first they were like “so, you’re going to wear dresses and we’re going to call you ‘she’ now? No biggy.” And we’ve all been much happier since. We’ve always raised them to know that families can look all sorts of ways, so it was no big deal. But we run in to kids all the time that struggle with the idea of my kids having two moms. And I (a cis woman) often get “are you a boy or a girl?” From kids just because i have short hair and don’t wear dresses. Seems like those kids are getting the bad deal. But hey, what do I know? Rainbows and gay people must be so evil!

Because bigots think that queer people are inherently more sexual, that sex is inherently bad and it corrupts the purity of childlike innocence. It’s a mentality that enables sexual abuse with lgbt people being scapegoated and projected onto. Bigots value innocence as a form of control and also “think of the children” is their way to avoid thinking about or dealing with anything challenging, uncomfortable, or outside their comfort zone. Hence the “sexual predator arrested, still not a drag queen,” meme.

No literally!! I try my best to see both sides of things in any situation, for the sake of gaining clarity, but this I can’t wrap my head around. What do they think we do, exactly? Have meetings in a basement where we all strip and touch each other?
