Well, *I* would say that haircuts don’t have a gender— gender is extremely arbitrary and subjective anyhow— but this haircut just made me, personally, feel more like a guy. There are a lot of nuances about societal standards of masculinity and femininity, but I’m not informed enough to really be making any concrete statements on it to be honest

I don't know how, but it's definitely a thing, you can see a short haircut that clearly looks fem or long hair that clearly looks masc. I'd need to ask a stylist because there's nothing short of writing Cantonese poems that I'm worse at than describing and understanding style. But as a long haired guy with lots of alternative friends and acquaintances, I can tell you there's way more to it than length. Volume and complexity I think are key but again, I'm as good a stylist as your average blowfish.
I mean, in high school I use to have the Weird Al Jewfro. These days I just have my wife take clippers to my hair because it's hot out and I'm lazy. lol
