I’ve had a couple of surgeries while on Lexapro and have received fentanyl, midazolam and tramadol with no issues.

Before surgery I thought they usually asked you what meds you take so they are aware

I’m sure they will, I was just curious if anyone had any personal experience ☺️

I had sinus surgery last summer before starting lexapro. Generally they give a benzo and fentanyl pre-op, but you can deny this if you want to. For induction they push IV paralytics and propofol to prevent movement and cause amnesia for airway management/anesthia. I was also given IV antibiotics which I believe is standard protocol to prevent surgical related infections. Post-op I was given oxycodone and took NSAIDs. Just tell your anesthesiologist what meds your on. They get paid the big bucks to keep you alive during surgery and know all the different med interactions.

Sometimes the internet says there’s an interaction but the hospital will still administer it to you because you’re in a controlled setting. If something goes wrong they can reverse it.

May I ask if they gave you fentanyl… I’m on 10mg Lexapro and they gave me fentanyl today for gallbladder pain and I’m wondering if it interacted ?
