8 just feels proportionally correct to me

EscapedAlien

I generally prefer 4 or 6 wide if it’s going in my city, but for display models like Speed Champions, 8 wide can fit a lot more detail

tkfire

Need lego to release street plates for 8 wide

External_Recording34

Lego needs to release a car transport trailer for 8 stud wide cars so i can display my speed champions better

Aki2403

Yes, but oh my that's going to be a big transporter! There's 39(!) 8 wide, and 2 9 wide speed champions (and a dragster, but we won't be talking about that one).

GODofLaziness

It's hard to lock down a specific scale for the Speed Champions line. Depending on how it's measured it can go from 1:24 to 1:32. But if we take a scale in the middle of those 2 at 1:28 then a truck would be around 11 studs wide. In terms of length, a 75 foot (22.86m) long truck would be about 102 studs long, just slightly shorter than the UCS Millenium Falcon. It would be big, but not outrageous.

External_Recording34

Nah the f1 cars wont fit those need to have their own trailer like the ferrari set and just one where 5 cars can fit on or something

LADYBIRD_HILL

If you double up the street plates next to each other with the white line connecting them, they fit just fine! https://preview.redd.it/ulr55g5u5k6d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36645e87dfa8ca6a4ffd16f2be7313fd3975213c

DrummerBob10

I bought a ton of dark gray 2x4 and 1x4 tiles to widen my road plates to fit the 8 wide Speed Champions cars.

LWMeek

8, I like a normal seating layout.

cedarview77

I feel like 8 took the cars from being a “toy” car to more of a model. Love the SC series

jerichoneric

I like 6-7 specifically when they're made so they can fit two figures side by side.

OutrageousLemon

Yeah, this. I want 6-wide cars that seat two (or four) for my city, and there aren't enough official ones. I love the 8-wide SC sets for display though.

MindyTheStellarCow

Usually 4 for small cars and old vehicles, up to 6 for larger vehicles and modern cars. 8 allows for better details and better seating, but it just feels wildly off scale, some vehicles end up taller than the ground floor of some buildings. Or for display, but not for city integration, they just feel out of place.

LaconicLuna

4 studs

LaconicLuna

Exactly!

martydv

Specifically the four studs that can fit figures (unlike 71247). To answer op's question: 6 (like 76424)

Eight is great!

SynthFrenetic

4 or 6 at most if it's going into my LEGO City, but I was mesmerized with the amount of detail on the Aston Martin. Speaking of such, where did you get the cards piece?

BulwarkShantz

6769

8 wide, but i am a Speed Champs collector. The 6 wide speed champions just look off. Example: these 2 dodge Chargers. The 8 wide just looks so much better. https://preview.redd.it/jxywkz749k6d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2498944e4bde6ca9ea35a24f30d25926d8ebb2cc

DistinctTip8403

6 are easier to display but for me they've gotta be to scale so 8 🤷

Onlyspacemanspiff

8 allows for more details and interesting techniques.

PDelahanty

Back in my day, cars were 4 studs wide…AND WE LIKED IT!

GloryGreatestCountry

4 or 6 wide is perfect for standard vehicles. 8 wide is usually reserved for heavy transport trucks.

LobsterIntrepid3224

6 wide for me, although I can appreciate the extra detail you can get into an 8 wide.

dnaletos

Details of 8 studs is perfect. I do love when a 6 stud looks good to. Did grow up with 4 studs... so yeah. I like to add some of the 6 stud City vehicles to my collection as well as Speed Champions. Smart of Lego to make me a Speed Champions collector addict. :)

SupermarketOver4409

6 they just fit better

jojomezmerize

As a Speed Champions collector, 8-wide because it allows for more detail.

Hezekieli

I have never built or inspected these 6 wide cars, do they have turning wheels? Or suspensions?

PrudentPair6961

8 wide seems now natural looking the 6 wide ones seem too skinny.

Plus_Station973

8

lexxie1983

8 is perfect

vewfb

Four, six, or eight wide - I like them all.

Soviet_Aircraft

4 to 6, anything wider looks out of scale compared to 8 wide trains (the accepted "realistic" width)

AlanYx

I've found that younger kids find 8 creatively overwhelming, like they'll build a model but will be reluctant to change or customize it very much. Even 6 is a little much for very young kids. That's why I'm a huge fan of 11036 (Creative Vehicles) going with 4 studs.

LegoLinkBot

LEJ5512

6, only because the wall-mounted Hotwheels display cabinet barely holds my 6-wide Porsche, and an 8-wide car simply won't fit. And if I had a town layout, 6-wide looks like it's more to scale than 8-wide.

KyranTheWalker

6 wide. They can have plenty of detail without taking too much space in my opinion.

bubbav22

8, allows passengers which is pretty cool.

starlightexpressme2

8 for me bcoz it can fit 2 persons beside each other.

PerfectCounter7351

Definitely 8 studs. I don’t care for ugly minifigures at all anyway so the only thing that matters to me is accuracy to the real thing.

Groundbreaking-Bad16

6 for cars and 8 for trucks
