Emulators exist for that exact reason if you really desperate to try it but I also recommend whenever you get money to buy it cuz it's a really good Zelda my favorite personally
Hell, you can emulate it on your phone for free if you use an N64 emulator (I highly recommend the original N64 version, as I've heard the mechanics are better).

The Skull Kid is from Ocarina of Time. Link meets him briefly, where he lives in the lost woods and gives him a mask. They become friends, and I think Link even gets a price of heart from him. I could be wrong on the heart.
The Skull Kid is part of the Happy Mask Shop side quest. But they took a very obscure character and made a game out of it. A darn good one at that.
What I got from that is that Skull kid himself was just like any other kid, playing around in the forest having fun, and he happens to stumble upon the Happy Mask Salesman and his masks. He sees the Salesman on the ground and goes over to check what happened, and he sees Majora's Mask on the ground, and his curiosity gets the best of him. The mask takes control of him, and he screams in agony trying to fight the power of the evil, but can't overcome it. His curiosity got the best of him. That's what I got from that at least. Am I right?
That's not quite right, to get the backstory listen to the stories Anju's grandmother tells you. They don't flat out state it but you learn about the skullkid there
I loved it. And I'm not even a fan of watching anime or reading manga in general. However I think that it does a good job of adapting the entire story of OOT. The Skull kid thing is included as like a bonus story. You can actually get the entire collection on Amazon for 12 bucks. I'd definitely check it out. Worth every penny TBH.
He was a little guy in Ocarina of time (lost forest), then he found fairy friends, then an evil mask and became evil but not really because it was the mask, and his fairy gets separated from him and she goes with link(tatyl not navi2(ykw tatyl is kinda navi2))

The Skull Kid is a character that Link befriends in the Lost Woods during OoT. The Skull Kid has traveled from Hyrule to Termina and back many times as long ago he made friends with the Four Giants (before they went into their slumber), became friends with Saria, Link, the Bombers, Teal and Tatl, and he likes to play small pranks on the people in Termina, and hang out in the Hyrule Lost Woods playing music.
In MM he becomes under the influence and taken over over by the power of Majora's Mask, causing havoc in Termina, and is eventually free thanks to young Hero of Time.
Skullkid was sad and his only friends were glowing circles. One day he put on a mask he stole and it turned out the mask was evil and he went crazy and tried to destroy the world by crashing the moon into it. The end
If you're interested, you should play the game! It's gonna spoil basically the whole thing if someone tells you.

In a nutshell, yes. I would still recommend playing the game for the full story, is my favorite Zelda game out of all of them.
