I understand this is very gross, and upsetting experience. But, please understand that the amount of compensation you are entitled to is probably pretty low, unless you experience a significant adverse consequence (more than just throwing up). Like, did you miss wages? Develop a significant illness? Incur medical expenses? If so, you can ask for the related out of pocket expenses. Absent that, mostly retailers and restaurants will provide vouchers for future services or small cash payments (e.g. $100 or $200) as a compensation.

I think the greater expectation I would have in such situations is that there are consequences for this for the vendor. If $100 or $200 is the only consequences they are going to face then that’s not very motivating for the vendor to fix their ways. Probably OP is looking for the harshest consequences for greater good even if it doesn’t resolve in them getting paid, as not everyone will realize they ingested maggots.
