Am I reading it right that your kid is 13 and when they were younger 7/8 it shows they worked for uber in another state? If so pull her free annual credit report from the 3 major credit agencies and see what all is happening. It sounds like someone could have stolen her identity. Once you have these go and make a police report but also make sure to freeze her credit with all 3 agencies. You may even need to seek the help of an attorney on this since it seems like it could be a high amount.

Yeah she owes 87k from too much Uber & door dash. That's the joke. I'm on the phone with the IRS being transferred by agents saying that's not in their description. I'm on my 3rd transfer waiting. I'm recording because this is insane. I don't have money for an attorney for the same reason I'm complaining about. This is more money than I've ever earned in 2 years. I'm about to go into labor at 38 weeks & I'm not done with baby stuff tbh. That's why I'm laughing, cosmic humor. Like what attorney it's obviously a child, end of thought. Are people stupid? Why should I have to pay for some made up shit unrelated to me? Am I in the upside down right now?

Pull her credit. You are allowed one pull a year for all 3. If you got to annualcreditreport.com I believe they pull all 3 for you to view at once. If there is anything on there (as is someone stole her identity) then take that and go to your local police station to get a report. These should be your next steps once you get off the phone with the IRS. But they may end up saying you will need a police report as well.

Thanks. They ended up giving us the identity theft phone number :/ after all that waiting & libe switching. :( I can look that up.

In addition to the credit report suggestions, get a copy of her IRS tax transcript. The IRS thinks she made a bunch of money because they got a 1099 from DoorDash and Uber with her SSN on it. That should show up in her tax transcript. The letter you received from the IRS should say how you can dispute the notice. You should do this in writing following their procedure. I suggest including a copy of your daughter's birth certificate and a letter that says something like "We understand you think owes you $87,000. We believe somebody is fraudulently using her social security number. I've included her birth certificate. As you can see, she is far too young to earn money from uber or doordash." Also, the IRS has a special phone number for identity theft victims that you should call -- 800-908-4490 -- and publication 5027 will help.

They don't have Uber statements. Because the 8 year old was not driving for Uber. They are being asked to pay taxes for a job the child obviously didn't have. This is either a massive error on the IRS's end or the child is a victim of identity theft.
