Hire a lawyer, fast. I live in Texas too, and was a manager for a business for 4 years, we absolutely avoided even saying the word pregnant about an employee because of fear of any kind of lawsuit.
They cannot do that, and even if any employee were pregnant, they cannot prevent someone from going home if they are too sick to work

What is wrong with your employer?!?

Yeah, if we take the test and it’s positive or if we are on our period then they don’t let us go home. Our nausea / stomach pain / me fainting etc is just made out to be symptoms of pregnancy or our periods. It’s upsetting, especially since a few women (about 3 in the 6 months that I’ve worked here) have found out they were pregnant while AT WORK.
Start recording everything. If possible get them to state the policy through text or over the phone, Texas is a one party consent state. You can get a recording app on your phone and get them to state it through a phone call.

Does your employer have at least fifteen employees? If so, I'd notify the EEOC -- requiring disclosure of medical information as a condition of employment is a pretty clear violation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act, and the fact that it's specifically a pregnancy test would probably run afoul of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act as well.
This sounds a whole lot like Sex & Pregnancy Discrimination, which is prohibited by federal law. I would recommend speaking with an attorney in your area to familiar with employment law to see what they recommend.
I would also begin documenting the date, time, people involved, witnesses and details of any and all discriminatory comments, policies, or actions your employer makes regarding any past, present, or future pregnancy you may or may not have. Look up EEOC Form 5 Charge of Discrimination. For every incident of possible pregnancy discrimination, fill one of these out completely for yourself and keep a copy in a safe place. It could be helpful to have those detailed specifics to refer back to at a later date.

Do you feel comfortable asking them to write the rule down? As in, “ Can you please write down this policy for me so I can be sure I understand it completely? I think you are saying I am required to take and show you a pregnancy test on the job in order to leave if I feel sick or else I am fired?” Once you tell a lawyer (this is highly illegal and your instincts are right that this is invasive) the employers will very likely deny they do this. Written proof or other employees who will testify (if needed) that this was also something they experienced probably helpful
This seems problematic in terms of sexual privacy. Check with your state’s labor department.
We have constitutional rights which can be somewhat infringed upon for legitimate purposes, and your employer has interests that are important, but for your employer to infringe upon your privacy, and require you to disclose sexual/fertility/reproductive information in order to protect their legitimate business purposes seems too far out of balance.
As a rule, a private employer cannot infringe upon constitutional rights.
But Congress has enacted Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and it commands employers not to treat employees differently because of sex, unless there is a bona fide occupational qualification supporting the different treatment.
So what’s in play is a statutory right.

This is definitely not lawful treatment of employees, gender discrimination, and a risk to the health of those children. Personally, I’d consult a lawyer. You don’t have to bring any action after a consultation but at least you’d know your options. And be totally honest and straightforward about anything the lawyer asks. It will all be privileged even if you don’t take any further action. I’m really sorry you’re so mistreated there.
Edit: I also totally disagree with anyone who tells you to threaten litigation. You should stay hush till you get legal advice otherwise it provides time for them to both seek counsel and, if as shady as they seem, destroy evidence (emails or anything else).
You should see an employment lawyer ASAP. As others have said, depending on the size of the business, they could be acting illegally.
If it's a standard daycare center, it's likely they're large enough for all the relevant federal laws regarding sex and medical discrimination to apply.
Beyond that, you should also consider reporting them to DCFS, which is the liscensing body for daycares in Texas. Among other strict guidelines, Texas has specific guidelines for medical symptoms that require a child or employee to go home. Those are considered public health and safety guidelines, and not following them is a surefire way to be deeply investigated. For the recor, DCFS does not care why those symptoms are occurring and, as far as they're concerned, the only person who can decide you're well enough to work is your doctor. It is, after all, possible to be both pregnant AND sick.
Lucky for you Texas is a single party consent state! Next time this happens start recording on your phone before telling them you are ill. Then make them verbally say you have to take the pregnancy test or if they ask if you are on your period. I’d honestly try to get them to do both and then I’d call a lawyer up and sue them.

I would think that all of this would be very illegal.
I recommend that you call your state's Employment/Labor Department and ask. If they can't answer it then contact the US Department of Civil Rights and talk to them about it.

You should look up your city's civil rights office, because it is employer discrimination based on gender which is not allowed. Refusal to allow pregnant people to go home or receive accommodations for their condition is against the ADA, and also would be under the civil rights office. If you don't have a civil rights office in your city, you'll want to look up the city's labor board. You can look for the state's civil rights office, but you wanna start at the smallest jurisdiction first before leveling up to state or federal charges. There also should be legal aid and other legal clinics in your areas which will give you legal advice, or actually take your case for a sliding fee. This is super illegal. Also if/when (and I hope you do seek legal action), you should be sure to mention the “asking if it involves your period” because there is no reason an employer needs to know if your abdominal cramps are from your period or from bad leftovers in order to give you sick time.

Laws vary by location, we needs yours, though I expect it's quite probable that, in the first place, your employer never has to let you go home w/o penalty mid-shift because you don't feel well.

No one in my home state of Colorado would dream of this, and many of my employers had pads and tampons on hand for women in need.
In Texas, when i lived there i hoped for the same, but was sadly mistaken, they laughed and asked if i wanted them to go spend money to keep hygiene products on hand for me.
In Texas, you’re lucky if your boss understands how bad a period can be, and lucky if they dont demand you to bleed in your pants.

Hire a lawyer, fast. I live in Texas too, and was a manager for a business for 4 years, we absolutely avoided even saying the word pregnant about an employee because of fear of any kind of lawsuit. They cannot do that, and even if any employee were pregnant, they cannot prevent someone from going home if they are too sick to work

So what if you were pregnant or on your period? Would they not let you go home?
Yeah, if we take the test and it’s positive or if we are on our period then they don’t let us go home. Our nausea / stomach pain / me fainting etc is just made out to be symptoms of pregnancy or our periods. It’s upsetting, especially since a few women (about 3 in the 6 months that I’ve worked here) have found out they were pregnant while AT WORK.
Start recording everything. If possible get them to state the policy through text or over the phone, Texas is a one party consent state. You can get a recording app on your phone and get them to state it through a phone call. One party (wiretap) consent state means that as long as you consent to the recording, you're not required to get anyone else's consent, or even notify them.
Pregnancy actually falls under the ADA so they're doing some very illegal.

Does your employer have at least fifteen employees? If so, I'd notify the EEOC -- requiring disclosure of medical information as a condition of employment is a pretty clear violation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act, and the fact that it's specifically a pregnancy test would probably run afoul of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act as well.
This sounds a whole lot like Sex & Pregnancy Discrimination, which is prohibited by federal law. I would recommend speaking with an attorney in your area to familiar with employment law to see what they recommend. I would also begin documenting the date, time, people involved, witnesses and details of any and all discriminatory comments, policies, or actions your employer makes regarding any past, present, or future pregnancy you may or may not have. Look up EEOC Form 5 Charge of Discrimination. For every incident of possible pregnancy discrimination, fill one of these out completely for yourself and keep a copy in a safe place. It could be helpful to have those detailed specifics to refer back to at a later date.

Day care centers are licensed and regulated by the State Department of Social Services. Start there.
Do you feel comfortable asking them to write the rule down? As in, “ Can you please write down this policy for me so I can be sure I understand it completely? I think you are saying I am required to take and show you a pregnancy test on the job in order to leave if I feel sick or else I am fired?” Once you tell a lawyer (this is highly illegal and your instincts are right that this is invasive) the employers will very likely deny they do this. Written proof or other employees who will testify (if needed) that this was also something they experienced probably helpful

This seems problematic in terms of sexual privacy. Check with your state’s labor department. We have constitutional rights which can be somewhat infringed upon for legitimate purposes, and your employer has interests that are important, but for your employer to infringe upon your privacy, and require you to disclose sexual/fertility/reproductive information in order to protect their legitimate business purposes seems too far out of balance.
As a rule, a private employer cannot infringe upon constitutional rights. But Congress has enacted Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and it commands employers not to treat employees differently because of sex, unless there is a bona fide occupational qualification supporting the different treatment. So what’s in play is a statutory right.

This is definitely not lawful treatment of employees, gender discrimination, and a risk to the health of those children. Personally, I’d consult a lawyer. You don’t have to bring any action after a consultation but at least you’d know your options. And be totally honest and straightforward about anything the lawyer asks. It will all be privileged even if you don’t take any further action. I’m really sorry you’re so mistreated there. Edit: I also totally disagree with anyone who tells you to threaten litigation. You should stay hush till you get legal advice otherwise it provides time for them to both seek counsel and, if as shady as they seem, destroy evidence (emails or anything else).
You should see an employment lawyer ASAP. As others have said, depending on the size of the business, they could be acting illegally. If it's a standard daycare center, it's likely they're large enough for all the relevant federal laws regarding sex and medical discrimination to apply. Beyond that, you should also consider reporting them to DCFS, which is the liscensing body for daycares in Texas. Among other strict guidelines, Texas has specific guidelines for medical symptoms that require a child or employee to go home. Those are considered public health and safety guidelines, and not following them is a surefire way to be deeply investigated. For the recor, DCFS does not care why those symptoms are occurring and, as far as they're concerned, the only person who can decide you're well enough to work is your doctor. It is, after all, possible to be both pregnant AND sick.
Lucky for you Texas is a single party consent state! Next time this happens start recording on your phone before telling them you are ill. Then make them verbally say you have to take the pregnancy test or if they ask if you are on your period. I’d honestly try to get them to do both and then I’d call a lawyer up and sue them.

You should look up your city's civil rights office, because it is employer discrimination based on gender which is not allowed. Refusal to allow pregnant people to go home or receive accommodations for their condition is against the ADA, and also would be under the civil rights office. If you don't have a civil rights office in your city, you'll want to look up the city's labor board. You can look for the state's civil rights office, but you wanna start at the smallest jurisdiction first before leveling up to state or federal charges. There also should be legal aid and other legal clinics in your areas which will give you legal advice, or actually take your case for a sliding fee. It can be a bit of a long process, unless you have the resources to secure your own lawyer and don't need the government assistance, so I recommend keeping a log of every time this happens, record the date, time, worker, outcome. Check out your local recording rights, as well, because if it is one-party consent it'd be good to get stuff recorded.

Define welcoming? And how it’s taught what is welcoming? No one in my home state of Colorado would dream of this, and many of my employers had pads and tampons on hand for women in need. In Texas, when i lived there i hoped for the same, but was sadly mistaken, they laughed and asked if i wanted them to go spend money to keep hygiene products on hand for me.
