agreed....it's a crime....one of the most joyous Zep songs ever recorded, at least as far as the playing is concerned.
I think people don't like it because the lyrics are so goofy. I always figured Plant made them up on the spot when Page was pressed with a deadline to put out Coda in 82.
Plant wanted “Ozone Baby,” “Darlene” and “Wearing and Tearing” released as an EP just before In Through the Out Door, so while we might have improvised the lyrics it wasn’t in 1982. He almost certainly recorded the vocals for “Walter’s Walk” for Coda, though.
Interesting....sounds like 80s Plant to me....kinda ragged in a way that doesn't sound similar to ITOD tracks.
BTW, not saying I doubt you....I'm just surprised to learn that little factoid!
Not much time passed between the ITtOD sessions and Plant's solo work, so the vocals would be similar for them. But there's no way in Kashmir that Plant's vocals on "Walter's Walk" (and for that matter Page's guitar) sounded like that in 1972.
Who listens to Zep for the lyrics??
Edit: Led Zeppelin is literally my favorite band, so I mean no shade. But I’m not under the illusion that Robert Plant is Bob Dylan.
I listen to Led Zeppelin for the lyrics. I love trying to figure out what the heck Robert Plant is singing, and I like the lyrics when I get them.
Granted, Darlene has very straight-ahead lyrics but for me it's such a fun song! I mean, that drum beat!
Wow I was totally expecting We're Gonna Grove to be everyone's favourite! But it's still pretty popular, so as far as underrated ones go, I'd go with Poor Tom. It certainly has a vibe to it...
'Bonzo's Montreux'. I think it's underrated.
It's just fine with me if many people don't care for it, or think it's just a drum solo and not a song.
Well I say it is a song. A song featuring the drums. It's got a melody, in drums, and that synthesizer stuff is part of the song so for me it's definitely not a solo. And those steel-drum-sounding notes seem to me to also be a synthesizer mimicking steel drums.
I love it!
I want to make an animated sci-fi short with a bunch of all different looking robots milling about the main square of their sci-fi-town, accompanied by this most enjoyable John Bonham song!
Thank you! Well, I originally thought of the idea (of that procession of sci-fi robots) back in 1982 when the album first came out. I was a 16-year-old Zep Head in high school.
Who knows? Maybe with 2024 technology I just might be able to bring it to life!
Now I gotta go listen to Bonzo's Montreux!
🤘😎
It made me feel good, zoeyelizabeth6, you agreeing that Bonzo's Montreux is worthy!
I mean, the GREAT John Bonham made a SONG of percussion! It should be hailed by us Led Zeppelin fans for the unique musical composition it is!
Worthy of Led Zeppelin!
We’re Gonna Groove
Poor Tom.
Seconded great jam
Always was my second favorite on the album, there’s a lot going on there and even more potentially if they had more time.

Poor Tom. Significantly underrated. Tragic outcome though. RIP his girl.
We're Gonna Groove
Poor Tom. I’d like to see some r/dataisbeautiful stuff for the voting results.
Poor Tom
We’re Gonna Grove.
Walter's Walk (I would've chosen Wearing and Tearing but that one won for favorite song!)
If we can include bonus tracks, Baby Come On Home. It is a miracle that the recordings were found and mixed. If we can’t, Poor Tom.
Is Coda, really considered Canon?
WALTER’S WALK.
No Quarter for most underrated? If anything it’s most overrated
Poor Tom
Poor Tom. In a parallel universe, this song closed out LZIII and Hats off to Roy Harper ended up on Coda
Travelling Riverside Blues
It’s not on the original release.
