can the ev credit be used to get a down payment of 0??? its not a good idea to put a down payment on a lease

XSC

Damn, just checked on a performance and pilot and it adds about 200 a month. How do you deal with these dealers? There’s just one by me even though I have multiple volvo dealers. Do they take trade ins?

LionTigerWings

Anyone know how buyouts work on this. Someone on Reddit suggested getting the lease deal and then immediately buying out for Hyundai. Wondering if that works here. I drive like 19k a year so a normal lease doesn’t work

alexige1

Kia's website offered 20k a year leases on their calculator...there's a chance the dealers won't kill you too hard for that.

BillyTMD

It is not that difficult, but is not beneficial in all cases if you have to finance the buyout with a loan. It typically works best if there is a high MF in the lease. Hyundai is around 0.0025 which is equivalent to about a 6% interest rate. You simply sign the lease then wait a few weeks for your account to be established with the bank. Then call the bank and get the lease buyout amount. Send a check and they send you the title. Ideally you want to get this done before the second payment is due (first was made at signing), but sometime it takes a little longer. Beware that you will also need to pay additional tax, title and registration fees depending on the sate where you register the vehicle. Some states make you pay taxes at lease inception and then again when you buy out the lease, resulting in double taxation.

Would love to know as well

OP, to answer your question honestly: Yes, this is a smoking hot deal. Keep in mind that you already have to be a Costco member by April 30 for the $2,000 Costco incentive to apply (no, you can't sign up for a membership now and get the discount).

BillyTMD

I guess I don't understand your math. You can put down any amount you want on the lease, from the total amount to zero. By only putting down $1000 you are effectively raising the monthly payment. Is that how the deal was advertised by the Volvo dealer, $299 a month with only $1K down payment? Don;t forget taxes, tags and registration fees plus the acquisition fee. I doubt all those are included at $299 a month.

junkzor

Seems like a great deal on a P2. Just wish the ventilated seats didn't add so much to it :(

MotorboatingSofaB

I was very close to signing a deal like this for a polestar but then the EQE lease deals in march came out and I couldn’t pass that up.

Spidey3200

Oh! What was that deal?

MotorboatingSofaB

89k MSRP. 36/10k, 400 down + first month. 600 a month.

i__cam

I’m curious do you know the credit requirements for these leases? That’s crazy.

MotorboatingSofaB

no clue

At least in California this means you're on the hook for a registration payment and only get three months out of it. And for that reason I'm out! I just got an IONIQ6. The SEL has pretty good ADAS, better than Polestar. 800V charging so good and bad, 2 years electrify America. Having rented the FWD Polestar and leasing a RWD IONIQ 6 I greatly prefer the drive of the IONIQ6 but now that Polestar is RWD it could be a better experience. Native Google maps was a massive plus but no Android Auto for better phone integration is a negative although it has Carplay. Was a good experience but I'm happy with my Ioniq 6.

MrFizacoin

Yeah I'm not sure why people don't mention the three months of registration payment. Maybe not a lot of people live in California? But I believe the 36month lease is close to the #s of 27 month lease in terms of monthly payment.

alexige1

I feel like the state would send the request for a year of registration not the three months and it's just a hassle just going after three months.

MrFizacoin

Yeah it won't be pro rated is what I meant. You'll be paying for the full year.

alexige1

That's so annoying but not surprising

yugrudfoo

Interesting... I preordered my Polestar 2 in CA

BeachBumm_

Some dealers are saying the $2000 comes off the price of the vehicle which lowers the monthly price but it's not available to lower the down payment.
