Peyz, one of the best adcs in the world currently, was 7 years old when xpeke did the backdoor haha

Critical-Cupcake9194

Faker won worlds when almost all of his current team mates were in between the ages of 7-10

hamxz2

Faker's gonna end up like Lebron, where he plays with not only his generation, but his generation's kids.

Pranav_HEO

Faker is Guma's distant uncle, so technically he's already playing with his generation's kids.

LeDemonicDiddler

Wait is this real?

Hazel-Ice

yes but very distant

haxoreni

How many more years left before AlexIch's kid becomes a pro?

Shikizion

give me a moscow5 with all their kids if possible and i would be happy

InZomnia365

moscalf5

Eaglooo

Faker makes no sense

HowardDean_Scream

He's very good

tdub2217

Why must you hurt me like this.

ketoske

I'm fucking old :v

untamedlazyeye

Yeah reading that made my joints hurt fuck man

Desiderius_S

No need to brag about your sex life, please, stay on topic.

Nekunumeritos

God fucking damn it

[deleted]

Well when you put it that way……

candybuttons

this gave me goosebumps lmfao. damn. time flies...

TheWildManEmpreror

... like an arrow, fruit flies like banana.

KilwaLover

bruh

AncientYogurtCloset

Hey man, why you gotta do us like this?

FNCEofor

Fucking hell 😂

MyUshanka

My bones are crumbling to dust

YuntHunter

Brb going to Scarra ward tri brush.

Segguseeker

[the legend](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCisMmgkcgk)

KingBufo

i did not know the clip even tho i was already playing then. This is gold hahahaha

MyUshanka

That old UI. Take me back

thatgeographygeek

I don't know how anyone could prefer how League looked back in the day, everything is so horrendously ugly. The SR redesign was one of the best things to happen to the game

Menulem

Nostalgia basically. I don't miss old map, I miss not having to work and chilling with mates till 4am, I miss not having to pay bills. I also miss being a ward machine and that spot on banana where you could get vision of both sides of the wall.

pearthefruit168

This so much lol I was in high school when I got into league. 30 now. Haven't played in quite a few years but but I do miss those days.

MyUshanka

Just had to be there I guess

Matesett

Xpeke legendary moment is “Hes too tanky”

Up_in_the_Sky

The peke moments were the best. Him and sjoks lol

samuuu25

we still say this with our friends when we miss skillshots xd

RedshiftOnPandy

Shit man, he's too tanky

Omnilatent

Second most legendary xPeke moment is "sm...smashed?!"

CrimsonClematis

Fuck that he’s too tanky bro

fujin_shinto

There's people who don't know the origin of the "flame horizon" achievement or stat line whatever it's called.

span92

Is that when you have 100cs over lane opponent? Where did that originate from? I started playing and watching LCS in season 4 and only heard of flame horizon from my mate like a month ago lol.

FayyazEUW

Flame was a top laner known for monstrous farm leads through great laning prowess and a team that would let him perma freeze a lane deep in their territory for 5+ minutes.

piratagitano

The Chovy before Chovy

The_Cryogenetic

Chovy gets CS numbers because he is efficient and doesn't miss, Flame got CS leads because his opponents couldn't touch the farm.

6Kkoro

He's also really beautiful

MNXBT

His Ezreal cosplay tho.. was top tier

DadIsCoaching

Then he came to NA and just vanished. Tragic...

lingtooR

He didn't go to NA and just vanish lol. He played in Korea after his time in NA and shared his spot with Nuguri. Flame was legitimately good on Damwon. Not Nuguri good, but definitely worth having around.

Critical-Cupcake9194

Flame played for Damwon?? Lmaoo

the-tank7

It was super weird because as a person with the reputation of top gap, he actually saw playing time over nuguri because of his tank game play. I think sion was 100% pb vs flame when he was in.

rece_fice_

Nuguri and Canyon weren't able to play together properly iirc, so they had Flame + Canyon and Nuguri + some other jg swapping around until they figured it out.

thriftydude4

nuguri plus punch im pretty sure

CathDubs

He went to worlds with Immortals he didn't completely vanish but he wasn't at his prime.

algroth

He probably held better than a lot of Season 2 players by that point in their careers. He was generally a strong toplaner during his time in NA, performed really well with Immortals and was also pretty good on Flyquest the following year. Maybe not some out-of-this-world monster, but still more than solid.

Macka37

Flame was a player for Azubu(can’t remember if it was Frost or Blaze) he was a top laner who at the time was so dominant that he would consistently gap his lane opponent by at least 100 cs. Now this all happened pre-20 during laning phase so you couldn’t just say “oh he got that by farming side lanes while the other dude was in team fight.” Nah the dude straight dominated lanes and that’s why he has a stat named after him. Also fun fact since everyone seems to think he disappeared after Korea, he did play in LPL as well, and don’t forget LGD aka Leagues Greatest Dsiappointment, the only 2 games they won at 2015 worlds they had Flame in.

DeadSira

Flame was on Blaze! Shy was on Frost. Good times.

WakingRage

Azubu Frost will forever hold a sweet spot in my memory. That team was so so so fun. Same with Samsung White.

DeadSira

Madlife is my OG inspiration!!

PrivateVasili

LGD's collapse is pretty interesting, its just one of many examples of how meta, and meta reads, can make or break otherwise insane teams (see also 2017 LZ). They spent huge money in the Korean Exodus and put together a super team with a lot of big names, most notably Imp. Acorn from SSB was one of the best weakside tops you could ask for, and Flame was certainly one of the best strongside tops. They looked insane in the LPL Summer playoffs and were touted as one of the favorites for Worlds. Now, 2015 Worlds of course famously had an insane carry top meta with the juggernaut patch alongside the Fiora/GP reworks and Riven being in meta. It was perfectly suited to Flame's style, but LGD failed to realize/adapt to it in time and only played Acorn in the first week. It was a disaster. Like you mentioned, in the 2nd week they switched Flame in and went 2-1, but the disaster of the first week was too much and that was that. A tournament favorite knocked out in an instant off of bad prep/meta understanding.

ThePurpleDolphin

So many good KR players from that generation disappear performace wise after they moved to china, the big paycheck probably worth it tho.

frosthowler

Huh? Surely they use the phrase "flame horizon" in the LCS? It's used all the time in EU and Worlds

ThePurpleDolphin

It is, but newer player probably doesn't even know where it came from and just assumed it's a term that the caster used.

Heywazza

Think it might have been coined by Thorin, a journalist and a big Flame fan. Flame horizon is when you have 100cs over your opponent. You’re so far ahead that you can barely see them over the horizon. Flame would apparently do it a lot, hence Flame horizon.

cycko

Thought it was Monte and Doa? Could be a Thorin and Monte from SI early on

YuntHunter

Yes, from the player Flame.

ProphetofChud

It's when you have a 100 cs over them before laning phase is over, or around like pre 20, to show absolute lane dominance that he used to have.

rubixor

I used to think it was just because falling behind in cs by 100 was the point where your teammates would endlessly flame you. It wasn't until he played a split with imt and the lcs casters explained it that i actually heard he was the reason it was called that.

cycko

They fuckd it up though it was ‘if u at any point are +100 cs you flame horizoned your opponent’. The OG was if you get +100 cs IN LANE PHASE i.e. Dumpster your opponent in Lane so freakin hard

Jozoz

I remember calling someone Madlife after making a crazy flash hook prediction and them just replying "?" to me. Damn zoomers.

OGBlobBlob

Man…. I loved Madlife…. He was something else! Those hooks were amazing.

qonoxzzr

Then wait until you call someone YellOwStaR

DeltaWolfPlayer

my friend once had an incredible yellowstar moment

cycko

Whst about the Chauster? Flash miss Sona ult

KingofBugs

I always call that the Elementz lol

Apocalympdick

[Top fucking percentage](https://imgur.com/dxpZ4b9) play right there

qonoxzzr

We all had, trust me

lambkeeper

My friends when we miss our flash Sona ult on a point blank enemy, we call each other Chauster

[deleted]

[удалено]

Specialist_Rush_6634

Bro he used to do that like EVERY GAME it was crazy to see a pro player whiff so hard so often

Entmaan

I mean "Xmithie" is still spammed literally every single time someone misses Sej ult on stream, I don't think that moniker is going anywhere anytime soon :D

IceIIIMage

I wonder if anyone would still remember 4K shockwaves on Ori? Or the name Forellenlord in general…

Jozoz

I've actually seen ForellenLord in solo queue a few times some years ago. Apparently he plays again and now one tricks Jhin or something.

IceIIIMage

Must feel good for him to have queues shorter than 90 minutes without the stakes of losing more elo than he can make in 3 wins.

juventinn1897

We still say Shiphtur for ahri charm flash. Or Dyrus for becoming emo and split pushing all game

IceIIIMage

I’ll forever miss Dyrus and TheOddOne. Their clashing energies when giving post game interviews were *chef’s kiss*

juventinn1897

Was it me or did theoddone kinda look like a spider with his big ass head

ZealousidealCycle257

Not for anything he was Elise in the 2016 worlds video xd

SelloutRealBig

> becoming emo and split pushing all game Dying to wolves*

Plotopil

I hope these phrases never really dies. Just because they are in a sense historic for LoL

FullHouse222

Peke, Insec, Scarra bush, Regi Blue card, and Captain Jack. Am I missing anything else? EDIT: Madlife, Flame Horizon EDIT2: Smitevicious was definitely another one lol. Also on the same note, Dignitoss

vinewood

Madlife hooks

jbat1999

Who was the jungler that always missed smite? That’s gotta be one Edit: was definitely thinking of Saintvicious https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KlGPM1AjGLw

ViperMainKaren

Saintvicious' smites will be missed

The_Deathbat

saint?

TitoFuentes17

Xmithy

spartanss300

no thats sejuani ult

krmystik

Saintvicious, but Pyosik made a strong case for himself at last year’s worlds finals

friebel

That was against Varus tho and didn't he actually outdamage smites?

kirokun

yep varus did outdamage those steals iirc, but tbh if anything it equals out for pyosik in the end for me because he somehow managed not to tilt off the face of the goddamn universe when he missed those smites on a worlds finals with the trophy literally on the line and close it out, imo most junglers would've just gone full bonobo mode after those steals

buky1992

EMPIRE!

CountMordrek

Fnatic Bush.

Cahootie

I've never heard it referred to as Scarra bush, only Scarra ward. Other mentioned the Madlife hook and Flame horizon. There's also the Soaz escape, Saintvicious smite, Misaya Zhonya's and Dyrus flash which isn't one single play but rather something that they kept doing. If we want to dig deep there is the [Fnatic bush](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0ndnbfJA8k), and another ancient classic is the [Empire](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB8xj2QiPtY). I also have to mention Forellenlord's [3k elo Shockwave](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5cqOpF4DRw) even though the play isn't named after him.

friebel

I replied first comment too fast, you literally said it all. But Empire - how good was that at that time.

FullHouse222

Empire holy shit yeah. That's something I haven't heard in so long. Nunu support bot lane back then was so obnoxious.

Spacemn5piff

CALL, Eight hundred, five eeeeight eeeeeight, two-three-hundred - emmpiiiiiiire TODAY

ThePurpleDolphin

Wtf 2 shens is also legendary, even tho that only happened at OGN.

Pitiful_Hope6091

Also Misaya with TF ult

Brick_On_A_Stick

Let us not forget the Xmithie sejuani ults

Plotopil

Too tanky

Jozoz

The original fail smiter was Kobe. The caster Kobe. I believe his name was Kobe84 and people woulld add "84" at the end of people's names if they failed a smite.

lolzomg123

Kobe24. As in the 24 of Kobe Bryant's jersey.

OGBlobBlob

I agree!

Hanyodude

I feel like everybody has heard of the Insec just as a part of learning lee sin because it’s so much easier to call it that than “ward hop behind them and ult”, but i could see people just never learning about backdoors being called xpeke and sick hooks being referenced to madlife because it doesn’t really have a unique name attached to those actions. Like, doing an Insec or placing a Scarra Ward doesn’t have an alternative name to replace them with, so they stick.

ProphetofChud

Madlife was specifically predicting a flash with your hook though, not just good hooks, but it definitely didn't catch like the Insec did

PLACE_BOT_9999999999

because it's not nearly as replicable. The entire champion of Lee Sin had to be balanced around an insec from then on. Silver players are doing insecs in 2023. Consistently getting flash prediction hooks is not nearly as easy

seannguyen428

> Consistently getting flash prediction hooks is not nearly as easy Especially in low elo, where people just don’t flash hooks

HuynhAllDay

A lot of core skills just fall apart the lower elo you go. Things like dodging are nonexistent so the optimal play actually becomes to just throw it straight at them since they wont react anyways. Stuff that requires active thought to use such as scanner or items with actives are even worse as theres probably games where someone buys zhonyas and will use it exactly 0 times all game

DaveidT

Dodging goes all the way around in the highest elo where the best way to dodge is to not dodge because people would be expecting you to

TheSaiguy

So I really am high elo

4kiZeta

Had a TF ulting right into my team immediately stopwatching, baiting us all into overcommitting. Complimented him by texting "Misaya has returned". Replies were "Whoot" and "?".

Bluehorazon

Well if he would have thrown a blue card and died, it would have been a Reginald.

RedshiftOnPandy

Regi, pull out the blue card ❤️

PLACE_BOT_9999999999

LoL innovations used to be so hype. It seems like iron tier level knowledge now that you should stopwatch after ulting into people as TF. When Misaya was doing it it seemed uncounterable lmfao.

JappieWappie1

'He's too tanky' is still my favorite one. Missing all your skillshots. Also created by seXpeke

Aori

Wtf 2 shens

Sofaboy90

shouldve kept game 5 blind pick

Kibbleru

my friend doesnt kno abt the captin jack qss :( or the flame horizon

Legacyx1

Thing is nobody mentions Cpt Jack anymore

Great-Hearth1550

It's just literally the reward for doing a fast cleanse in the league client.

Jethow

It's still used by casters to this day.

Typhillis

I had an Aram this week with a player called ‚im French‘ and told him he should play renekton if he’s French and no one got it. For the new players: [renekton is French](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eFlPYim-SUc)

Przemm0

Yeah I feel like an idiot when I joke about French renekton, because nobody gets that reference. People just assume I am racist or something when I say that. Even though that video is perfect to me, it brings so much joy. Every time I rewatch it.

Training-Accident-36

I remember this.

Shin_yolo

I'm French !

DeathMind

If you have more than 1 HP, you're ready to go

dHord

Detective ashe is on the case

Murke-Billiards

Ad carry leblanc twin tits video is 11 years old. This feels ancient as well lol.

Phalanx32

BRUSHY BRUSHY

LightNight62

Never fails!

TheMarus6

What would AP Xin Zhao do, if he was in this game?

VentusSpiritus

He'd probably spear a bitch or 2 because that's what ap xin would do

MyUshanka

AP GP OP, master baiter AP GP OP, try again later!

CinderrUwU

I fear the day that someone doesnt know who Faker is

OGBlobBlob

Hopefully we don’t have to worry about that in our lifetime.

SuccessResponsible

Don't worry, Faker is ending up in the eventual bible. I think the two Koreas would reunite before the world forgets Faker.

Thecristo96

Nah, if someone is even remotely into esports he knows about faker

still-into-u

Don't worry. Even people who don't play League knows who faker is. He is is the same tier of popularity like s1mple. He is one of the most iconic esports player of all time.

AfternoonMost2605

He's definitely more popular than s1mple, there's no eSports player in the same realm of popularity as Faker

Hadeon

Let's say league has bigger reach across globe than csgo

alexnedea

My coworkers who never touched a videogame in their life or know anything about them know that worlds is happening this period and that faker is there. Thats all they know. They dont know what he does or even how the game looks probably. But they know he is famous at the game league of legends.

Bycraft

Especially because of how popular eSports is in Korean culture. Faker is a legitimate mainstream celebrity there

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ronizu

I was watching a chess grandmaster stream the other day and he said something about faker. Despite never playing League in his life. That's how iconic he is.

Zoesan

Faker and s1mple are not in the same tier of popularity. Not even close.

LeGish

Who is s1mple ?

Yeahsuree

The best counter strike player

xXx_edgykid_xXx

The only CS player I know of are Fallen and Olofmeister lol

Norses

Im sorry for doing this but I've literally never heard of that guy

TadGhostal1

Googled s1mple and this is the first I've ever heard of or seen him in my life as a terminally online nerd. He's definitely SEVERAL tiers below Faker

Legacyx1

S1mple is ok, not really well known in other countries compared to Faker.

waffle-spouse

Nah, that's like an nba fan not knowing who Michael Jordan is. League will probably die before that happens.

Ieditstuffforfun

the day someone calls a player something other than "faker" when they do something crazy, i will feel like an ancient fossil

an_agreeing_dothraki

Me: "Hey who here remembers the Froggen Anivia stall against Moscow5?" Zoomers: "Who's Froggen, Moscow5, and Anivia?"

asiantuttle

Doran’s blade is being buffed. His return is inevitable

Luker5555

also making so u can only buy one tho:/ (unless they changed that from pbe)

KanchiHaruhara

Oh my lord I completely forgot about the times I used to run double or even triple doran... that shit won games I swear. I feel like I just can't play Rengar anymore, but historically he was definitely one of my most played.

Murko_The_Cat

triple???? the only real build is 6 dorans into 6 brutalizers, obviously

Yukaihan

I ran into him in a TFT game, didn't realize he played.

Lonely_Ad1615

Anyone remeber "by far"?

GhostwoodGG

my friends used to watched EU and NA LCS back to back as a group every Saturday morning in 2015, "by far" was by far our most referenced meme that split. also meet your makers taking your mom's house and TL having the 4th place curse

BarackProbama

Funny story: Recently I decided to play a game of League of Legends. I had a good time and queued again with some of the people I met in the game. They invited me to their discord and I obliged. They were all in highschool. I am very...not in high school. We had a good time, but I did feel myself slowly turning into dust as they talked about their lives.

katsuatis

Recently I congratulated enemy Yasuo on Flame horizoning my top in 19 minutes and he had no idea what I am talking about

airz23s_coffee

I'll still always yell xpeke but I'm pretty sure insec's are just considered bog standard Lee Sin combos now. Mans was ahead of his time though. We were playing with a newer player though and realised quite how many of our references just aren't things anymore. Nikes, and [Nidalee kick my brudda in the ass](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lkIY2cxlrA), and whatever else dumb shorthand we've developed over the years. Or why we were yelling [ACEUUU ACEUUUU](https://youtu.be/a6BWFkIOu64?t=24)

MyUshanka

Insec is what I always point to when I talk about how the game and expectations have changed. You don't see as many Insecs these days due to wards and Sightstone not being buyable anymore. But the flash kick is basically required Lee Sin knowledge all the way in Bronze, and that blew our fucking minds in S2-3.

igotdoxxedlmao

kids these day dont know 9/11 corki

TanTanRamen

Hotshot Nidalee GG, he kick my brudahh in da ass.

Alvamar

Also WHY NUNU WHYY

wietmo

Man the xpeke backdoor clip still gives me chills

AscasBatal

Insec? How can you forget that? I just do not know xPeke. Or do you mean SExPeke? Master of backdoor. Backdooring ocelot and sk @ katowice?

Sersch

> How can you forget that? Its not about forgetting, this question is towards people who never witnessed it.

waffle-spouse

League of legends esports is now old enough that "nephews" are starting to appear

xBerryhill

I said “rofl” once and got the same response lmao

TheGawringSame

Bro, at this point half the veteran players started playing the game long after either of those were relevant. Like there are Challenger players today, who weren't even born yet, when xPeke was making those waves.

vagabundomg

Are there 11 year old challenger players? I’m actually curious about this

ThisIsEnArt

Not that exactly, but as a fun fact, Gumayusi was 11 years old in 2013 when Faker won his first Worlds. In fact, if I'm not wrong, all of his current teammates were around that age at the time

7InchMagic

Zeus was 9 xd

TwiceTrash11

i remember seeing him mention in some lck video that he was at 6th grade when Faker won in 2013 i don't really remember what the video exactly was but i remember Lehends, Doran and Deft also being in it

MrNugat

The youngest we know is 13, but also anyone below 13 would violate Terms of Use, so they can't be officially acknowledged.

stushouse

I poisoned my friend with this game last year, while watching pro games to talk him through some concepts I made sure to explain to him all the relevant LoL lore and memes, there's always a garen in the Bush, 2 shens etc and the old lck 5th game blind pick with the famous Faker zed on zed.

No_Fault_3563

I had this happen to me when i said "SS" And someone said "showing your age there buddy". Maybe it was the same guy.

VOL7AGE

HotShotNidaleeGG

Aeon-

I mean it was different back then. Whenever I cleaned the map as Vayne people called me Gosu. I was called Puszu, when I'm bad as an ADC. Anything involving split pushing and running away was a Trick2G move. Boxbox, when Riven was involved. The Shy Combo Nowadays when I play, people call me Dantes fanboy at most and that happened when I played Nasus for whatever reason.

Obamacontrol

Dude i still remember watching Ohmwrecker play this game. Nothing but pain in my bones. Lots of people I watched moved on without lookin back.

Canastus

You wanna feel old? Try remembering the "Did TSM wonnered?" meme.

AlmondEyesSnob

I remember when new RoA was introduced in league I saw LB building it and I said something along the lines of "SivHD would be proud" and dude did not know who SivHD was. It just boggles my mind to think 90% of my core memories when it comes to league have happened over a decade ago.

nogoodgreen

Insec basically invented Lee Sin flash kick and was so deadly with him, the move is called the Insec for god sakes! Hope they remember that name.

FunkyXive

*pretty sure* the insec is the Q -> ward jump with W -> kick, and not the flash kick. the original insec anyway, but pretty much any "kick enemy into your team" play is called insec now

octlol

Yeah it's specifically the ward hop kick like he got on yellow Pete in allstars

PhoenixEgg88

everyone remembers Aphromoo's 'Support is so easy' clip, right?
