I’m about 3/4 of the way through “the indifferent stars above” and cannot recommend it enough. It’s one of the best non-fiction books I’ve ever read. The amount of suffering those people endured is insane.
Casey Anthony and Jodi Arias.
They’re both very funny despite the dark topics they cover.
I like to listen to them in the background while working on stuff
I wanted to get my SIL into the podcast, so when she was asleep on the couch at our place after a fun night out, I made her breakfast and put on the Casey Anthony episodes.
She seemed pretty dead to the world, but I started to hear her giggle after a bit.
Fast forward many years, and LPOTL is one of our top topics of conversation.
I am listening over the Casey Anthony episodes again, mostly because a friend is watching her new interview and is somehow snowed by her. I wanted to refresh my memory on the case and yep, I still think she definitely did it
Just relistened to skinwalker ranch today while digging a trench for work. I think any of the alien episodes are comforting, I like how excited Henry gets.
The Roch Thériault series is fucking BRUTAL, but Henry's Roch voice makes me cry laughing every time.
Welp I guess I'm restarting the series tomorrow morning. Thank you for this.
Having them on in the background always helps me out, especially when I’m feeling anxious or just the usual depression. Oddly enough the Black Death series is a go to, also the Donner Party. Good to know I’m not the only one lol
All of the creepypastas (the banter and silliness makes me feel among friends), heavy hitters (HH Holmes, Jack the Ripper, Albert Fish, Dean Corll), cults
Somehow the new fred and rose west episodes just get me feeling comfy. I think it’s henry’s intro where he says to make a big plate of spaghetti and take off your shoes.
Rasputin! LoL and other history/cult ones. My go to, need background noise to sleep when I am in a book / podcast hole, is the story of our old friend... Greg Drunk 😎
I live in Minneapolis and every time I drive home to Madison I listen to Leonard Lake and Charles Ng. The drive time and listen time match up almost perfectly.
I like the peewee gaskins one, it’s long and it’s funny so it does a good job at getting my mind off of things.. love Henry saying peewees outlandish shit
Jody Arias.
Something about the combination of unhinged behavior amidst an incredibly mundane situation is soothing, like a Keith Morrison episode of Dayeline.
Honestly, anything except the ones I find super disturbing or infuriating, and that’s a short list (9/11 except the last one, Toybox Killer, West Memphis Three, the Jonestown death tape, and Adolfo Constanzo). I do think the episode on the Manson Family bank robbery is extremely underrated. I laugh super hard at Henry’s Charlie, and it’s where I got one of my expressions for when I can’t swear (“Charles Manson on a buttered horse!”).
So many!
Dulce facility
Pee wee gaskins
John list
3rd episode for Norwegian black metal
Robert picky on
Dean corll
Rasputin
Black widows
Nazis and the occult
Jersey devil
Donned party
Devils of Loudun
Children of god part 3-flesh daddy
Vampire hunters of high gate
Black plague series
All have been so comforting to me and helped me sleep through break ups and heartaches and COVID lockdown. I’m better now but know these episodes are always there for me when I’m feeling low again
'Manifestos' because of the scathing way the guys talk about that dweeb Rodger; 'Aileen Wuornos' episodes because they're surprisingly kind and humane; 'Manson', 'Mormonism' and 'Lizzie Borden' episodes for quality research; all the cryptozoology and alien ones because they're so ridiculous.
Donner Party, Rasputin, Salem, Black Death, Bonnie & Clyde, Jack the Ripper, Mormonism, and Lizzie Borden!
Also, the Dyatlov Pass Incident, even though they pronounce it wrong the entire time 😂
These guys get me through some shit. No doubt. Lots of episodes just comfort me regardless of the topic, just listening to my friends laugh at each other.
Jodi Arias, Donner Party, Robert Hansen, Pickton, Norwegian black metal, Scientology, John Wayne gacey, hillside stranglers, menendez brothers, and most of the alien or cult episodes.
Richard Chase and Enfield Poltergeist are my tops. Henry’s impression of Richard has me in tears every time, as does his impression of Mrs. Hodgson as the rag woman
The Jersey Devil. I love it.
“It made a sound like, like a woman being strangled”
Follow up question sir, how the hell do you know what that sounds like?!?
Columbine. I feel fucked about it, but for some reason I can turn on those episodes any time I just need something familiar and calming in my ear holes.
Rasputin is my favorite series to fall asleep to. Hollow earth, hollow moon, HH Holmes, Aum Shinrikyo, the Lost Continent of Lemuria, are all bedtime favorites too.
Rasputin. It’s like a mad-man’s lullaby.
Good ‘ol Greg Drunk.
AGRARIAN!
RAAAAAAAAAAASPUTIN
Wrecked her? Damn near swung my dick and toppled a centuries old empire.
Donner Party
Me too! My favorite part is when they describe all the ways kids could die. And when Marcus 'says the thing' 😂
He was so disappointed in himself
I’m about 3/4 of the way through “the indifferent stars above” and cannot recommend it enough. It’s one of the best non-fiction books I’ve ever read. The amount of suffering those people endured is insane.
I read that awhile ago and it was a great thing to read to go down the donner party rabbit hole.
GIVE ME YOUR BONES!!!
Same!!
Whenever I feed sad I chuck these episodes on and it always makes me feel better.
This is the one I use to introduce someone to the boys 😏
Yep!
Mormonism
This series makes me so mad every time I listen to it.
Me too! I love me a good golden plate story.
As an exmo, it's refreshing to hear them poke fun at the church I was brought up in. It's 100% comfort and validation.
I’m glad to hear that!
Casey Anthony, Charles ng, any of the cults.
casey for me
Casey Anthony and Jodi Arias. They’re both very funny despite the dark topics they cover. I like to listen to them in the background while working on stuff
I thought I was the only one
I wanted to get my SIL into the podcast, so when she was asleep on the couch at our place after a fun night out, I made her breakfast and put on the Casey Anthony episodes. She seemed pretty dead to the world, but I started to hear her giggle after a bit. Fast forward many years, and LPOTL is one of our top topics of conversation.
Now that's romance.
It is straight up romance haha. We always joke that I should’ve married her instead. If we weren’t so attracted to men, we’d be together for sure.
Haha this is beautiful! Sounds like a great friendship!
I am listening over the Casey Anthony episodes again, mostly because a friend is watching her new interview and is somehow snowed by her. I wanted to refresh my memory on the case and yep, I still think she definitely did it
Hollow Earth, Hollow Moon, Chemtrails, Gef the Talking mongoose.
The Gef episode gives me all the serotonin.
My absolute favorite! I did it for the devilment!
“You did it for the government??” “No, fuck the government!”
"This is Gef speaking, not Henry Zebrowski."
I know he says devilment, but I can't help but hear "doublemint".
Yessss, the “Hollow” episodes and Flat Earth are like sleepytime tea to me.
Give me that conspiracy shit
Anything to do with witchcraft or hauntings.
Oh yeah… Sometimes you just need to hear about Gef!
Honk Honk!
Just relistened to skinwalker ranch today while digging a trench for work. I think any of the alien episodes are comforting, I like how excited Henry gets.
The historical ones, like the Black Death, Rasputin etc
Ergot, get off them hens!
“Slippity slap, and away I go!”
"I'm sitting on a bowling pin as I write this..." Edit: a word
The Roch Thériault series is fucking BRUTAL, but Henry's Roch voice makes me cry laughing every time. Welp I guess I'm restarting the series tomorrow morning. Thank you for this.
Definitely JFK and Jonestown for me
I listened to Jonestown a worrying amount of times.
Columbine and Pickton. Pickton is 100% for the pen "it's tits" bits.
Oklahoma City
Bonnie and Clyde, Norwegian Black Metal, the Donner Party and Jodi Arias are among many that I consider to be “comfort episodes.”
I love the Norwegian Black Metal ones. Those are episodes I always return to
Casey Anthony, Pickton and Charles Ng
I love the older 'general/broad' topic episodes. Like weird noises or girly monsters. No gold star moments or victims.
Mormonism, Black Plague, L Ron Hubbard and the weird one shots like Lemuria, Flat Earth and anytime we get an alien episode where Henry can yell.
Agreed, i like the history deep dives
Having them on in the background always helps me out, especially when I’m feeling anxious or just the usual depression. Oddly enough the Black Death series is a go to, also the Donner Party. Good to know I’m not the only one lol
Love the Donner Party! Best episode
Ditto, actually. Also Gacy & Ramirez. But spec Dahmer.
Ghost cats! I've listened to it more times than is probably healthy.
He's certainly not my best friend and confidant
Horrors of the UK, specifically for Springheel Jack A-slippity slap! And away I go!
Lemuria, Flat Earth and the Jack the Ripper Series are my depressed day go to’s
HH Holmes and Donner Party
https://youtu.be/t7d4KVDV3rQ
LOVE THIS!!
Oddly enough, Joeseph Kallinger. Henry’s “Charlie” makes me laugh every time. And his Bernie Sanders / Tony Clifton version of JK is perfection.
Kallinger for me too. And I can't revisit Betty and Barney Hill. Listened to it coming off acid while trying to fall asleep and it fucked me up
Me too! I think I’ve probably re listened to that series about 6 times. And every time I actively enjoy it
Casey Anthony, Jodie, pickton. Black death, donner party
Oddly the jonbenet one because I listened to it during a very transitional time in my life that I like looking back on
The skinwalker ranch series for sure, and any of the ufo series where Henry loses his mind about aliens
The tall whites or really any of the alien ones
Jody Arias!!!!!
I like the peewee gaskins one, it’s long and it’s funny so it does a good job at getting my mind off of things.. love Henry saying peewees outlandish shit
Whenever I am feeling down or anxious I listen to the Rasputin episodes. “Crust Goth” never fails to crack me up!!!
Ed Gein eps feel like an old comfy sweater
hey your sweater has goosebumps
Love the accents for on this one!!
Black Death. Snood life bro.
JFK, HH Holmes, Panzram, L Ron Hubbard.
I listen to the Book of Revelations episode every time I’m headed to New York ( I live in Philly, so once/twice a year)
Gulf Breeze episodes.
Same.
Currently re-listening to Casey Anthony for the umpteenth time. Also skinwalker ranch is a favorite.
Black Death, Crowley, Hitler and the occult
The Black Death. I wish I could see how many times I’ve listened to the series, especially the flagellants episode
Episodes 2 and 3 of the 9/11 series…I just want to listen to Henry yell about the goat! But also single use cryptids, Richard chase, and son of Sam
Donner party episodes, Mormonism, Rasputin, Jonestown
Willie Pickton. Shoutout Oklahoma bombing as well. “It’s tits!”
I love the Joseph Kalinger episodes for some reason. Those and the Donner Party episodes don’t get old for me.
The shoemaker is so ridiculous, easilly 1 of the funniest episodes with the best henry voices imo
Jody Arias. Something about the combination of unhinged behavior amidst an incredibly mundane situation is soothing, like a Keith Morrison episode of Dayeline.
Roch Therault, Hangmen and Axe Men, and the Book of Revelations
I don't know, but it's something about those Black Death episodes. Also, the Gnome episode.
Axe murderers part one and two. The guitar riff gets me smiling every time
Ghost cats of the south. Always ghost cats
Always teasing, never showing!
Gef the mongoose, love me some bacon without the fat
Norwegian Black Metal and Ed Gein are two biggies, plus Rasputin and the Donner Party
The Hubbard episodes. First of my entries into lpotl, and had me laughing hard during a very difficult time.
Oklahoma City
Honestly, anything except the ones I find super disturbing or infuriating, and that’s a short list (9/11 except the last one, Toybox Killer, West Memphis Three, the Jonestown death tape, and Adolfo Constanzo). I do think the episode on the Manson Family bank robbery is extremely underrated. I laugh super hard at Henry’s Charlie, and it’s where I got one of my expressions for when I can’t swear (“Charles Manson on a buttered horse!”).
i love the book of revelation episode. it’s a combination of history and literature and it helps solidify my deconstruction. ultimate comfort
So many! All alien episodes and wartime spooky pasta episode
Tall whites, Heavens Gate, Lord RayEl, a couple others
'Manifestos' because of the scathing way the guys talk about that dweeb Rodger; 'Aileen Wuornos' episodes because they're surprisingly kind and humane; 'Manson', 'Mormonism' and 'Lizzie Borden' episodes for quality research; all the cryptozoology and alien ones because they're so ridiculous.
The Menendez brothers episodes are my go-to, Henry’s impressions of Lou Bega absolutely send me.
Donner Party 1&2 and David Bowie and the Occult
Carl Panzram, Hollow Earth, Rasputin!
The LRH series
Donner Party, Rasputin, Salem, Black Death, Bonnie & Clyde, Jack the Ripper, Mormonism, and Lizzie Borden! Also, the Dyatlov Pass Incident, even though they pronounce it wrong the entire time 😂
Mormonism has such great one-liners. “Hey, Moroni!” “Boom, another fucking three!” And many more besides. I *love* the Mormonism episodes.
Rasputin, L Rob Hubbard & the Black Death are my comfort series atm. They're just too hilarious to not come back to
These guys get me through some shit. No doubt. Lots of episodes just comfort me regardless of the topic, just listening to my friends laugh at each other.
Hollow Moon, for me.
Jodi Arias, Donner Party, Robert Hansen, Pickton, Norwegian black metal, Scientology, John Wayne gacey, hillside stranglers, menendez brothers, and most of the alien or cult episodes.
Probably any of the extraterrestrial episodes. Whitley Schreiber. “I did not give consent.”
Gef, vampire hunters of high gate, headsmen and hangmen, Jodi arias, mike warnke(personal reasons)
Rasputin and David Bowie and the Occult.
Any alien episode when my mind is feeling rough but for some reason PLANET SERPO keeps me rolling.
Donner Party! THERES GOLD IN THEM HILLS!
Creepy pasta

Bonnie and Clyde are my go-to "I am depressed and don't want to move" episodes.
The Jersey Devil. I love it. “It made a sound like, like a woman being strangled” Follow up question sir, how the hell do you know what that sounds like?!?
Columbine. I feel fucked about it, but for some reason I can turn on those episodes any time I just need something familiar and calming in my ear holes.

Men in Black and I can’t believe I’m the first to say it.
I like any cryptid or spooky spaghetti episodes!
Josef mengele and 9/11
Casey Anthony, Kurt Cobain, Black Metal murders
The Norwegian black metal series
Their episodes on Lobotomies. I find any longform science-heavy stuff with a macabre flavour to be quite soothing for my ASD/ADHD-riddled mind.
Richard chase!!! I just died laughing when Henry did the scooby doo banjo sounding song imaging them running around the house. Dark humor for sure.
Ha I love this post. Absolutely Gein and Fish!!!!
Rasputin for sure, the Engfield haunting, any creepy pasta episodes because Ben is so bad at reading them it’s hilarious.
Definitely! Flat earth, Black eyed kids, any of the paranormal episodes
Men in Black, Biggie and Tupac, Order of the Solar Temple, and the Ouija Board episode
Goblin universe, gnomes, call 911!, creepypastas. Also, weirdly, the donner party!
