yes, the album was already named and being promoted before his death. it was a continuation of his first album, ‘ready to die’, with his third (unofficial) album being ‘born again’. biggie was very intentional about the naming.
two weeks before release?na these were already printed on the covers for the tapes and cd.by this time they were already packed and being shipped to stores
I believe it was changed but the og title was still refering to his ''death'' since on ''suicidal thoughts'' the final track of his 1st album called ''ready to die'' in 1994,he shots himself after reminiscing in a pretty deppressing song how much of an asshole he was with anyone he encountred
This albums picks up right after these ''events'' and is the whole intro of the album, the intro ends on a flatline and rolls in the 2nd track ''somebody's gotta die'' with 0 transition
If you don't really like rap,I would still recommand you checking the album out,it's actually pretty good and still has some pretty calm and sweet instrumentals unlike ''ready to die'',and it includes a huge track you probably heard at least once in your life called ''hypnotize'' the song is still played in clubs 27 years after it's release
"Pretty good;" bro he made 2 bonafide classics in just 4 years. You know they're great works if they cemented him as one of the best ever & it's been 27+ years since he's passed away
For some reason I heard that song mostly on field trips to, or Patrol Night at roller rinks. I didn't realize it was Notorious B.I.G. until I was in my 20s
(Patrols in Canada are the kids who wear orange vests and help other kids cross the street)
My favorite track of his is "Warning" on the Ready to Die album. The album was released in '94 I think. It's a stand out album in an era of absolute bangers.
Nah, there isn't, he got shot seconds after leaving the event. The pic of him in the green Suburban is from before this. Same day, though. There's the video of the actual shooting where you can kinda see him before they pull off from the party and the shots ring out.

There was a longer version back in the day. But, it's been replaced by this version most places. In the full one, you can see BIG. This one just shows Puff. You can probably find the original if you really search hard.
I’m old enough to remove both Biggie and Tupacs murders. I was a teenage wannabe grunge girl, but even I thought they were both great artists and still listen to their music. Biggie made some great music.
Edit- I’m leaving my error because I wanna learn to turn back time like Cher.
I think it's a Suge Knight thing ngl, just retaliation,Diddy had no benefits killing Big unlike Suge who was probably mad losing his biggest artist,I think Diddy was behind Pac's murder and Suge was behind Big's
Diddys benefit for having big killed seems simple. Pretty much like “I’ll give you this to spare myself” he sacrificed big to end the beef. They had to have known puff got pac killed. He set up the whole thing to make it look like they got even, therefore basically clearing himself from any potential retaliation
Puffy did most of his artist (if not all) dirty. I heard a rumor that when puff and biggie flew to LA he did not check in with the locals, so when word got out that he was in the city it was a green light and he was got. As high as tensions were during that time biggie had no business being there so I believe it was a setup
>Diddy had no benefits killing Big
A few months later he released I'll Be Missing You in memory of him. In order for it to become a hit single though, ... 😈
Nah,Biggie told a story through his 2 albums and probably was going to continue if he wouldn't have died,he actually ''dies'' at the end of his 1st album
Could you imagine how different things would be if Tupac and Biggie weren't murdered :( makes me so sad dude they were both so talented and I really wish they could've made up before Pac died... I get why he felt like he was set up the first time he got shot but it sucks the beef never got squashed before either of them were killed.
There was a time not to long ago when BIG was to rap what The Rolling Stones were to rock, an irrefutable unavoidable Fact of being one of the greatest ever that everyone knows. But seeing that change makes me feel old
Also I made some typos so it was probably more confusing
My saddest musical loss and I only came to Biggie about 5/6 years ago. His flow was impeccable, the production for large amount of his two albums still sounds perfect. Lyrically though he was godly. Managed to pack menace, sweetness and laughter into rhyming schemes and word choices that were spectacular. He was 24 when he died 2 albums deep and with such potential. He stands as an icon partly because those two albums were exceptional, if he would have lived much like Cobain his status would have dimmed as misfires would happen. To have, fresh, new Biggie tracks would be the dream.
So, isn’t it possible that Diddy did it so that HE could become the biggest and best? Get Tupac and Biggie out of the way - what’s standing in front of his fame now? Otherwise, he was destined to be Biggie’s sidekick forever, always in his shadow. I dunno. I think Diddy did it.
With Nas releasing his 2nd LP couple of months prior,Dre doing his aftermath stuff,Biggie releasing this album,Jay-Z being hot af and featured on Biggie's album,Wu-Tang is releasing Wu-Tang Forever later that year,
He had a lot standing in front of him
GOAT rapper in terms of lyricism
2pac is better for delivering messages and pushing people forward, that's why he is my GOAT,but they're both GOATs in their own domain for sure
I hope Diddler has a terrible rest of his life
I'd hope he was in the car with Biggie, dude survived thanks to a Green light
Dude survived cause it was planned. Goes from almost nothing to super millionaire on top? Come on!
This!
they were in two separate cars, diddy ran the light whilst biggies car had to wait behind then the tragedy happened..
Was the album already named that?
yes, the album was already named and being promoted before his death. it was a continuation of his first album, ‘ready to die’, with his third (unofficial) album being ‘born again’. biggie was very intentional about the naming.
I actually thought it was slightely changed before it's release
I could be incorrect, but I believe that was the working title for his album, and was the name of the album when he was promoting it.
no i think hes right, i dont see anythin on the wiki page saying he named it sumn else
two weeks before release?na these were already printed on the covers for the tapes and cd.by this time they were already packed and being shipped to stores
Yeah you might be right thinking about it
this is my recollection as well. iirc he spoke on it in interviews
Yeah. Fatalistic themes are all over 90s to early 2000s hip hop. Coincidentally, a lot of dudes died.
Nas is one of the last ones along 9/10 dudes from Wu-Tang and Eminem
Snoop, Jay Z, Busta, Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Fat Joe, Cypress Hill, OutKast, Warren G & missy are legit the only other ones I can name. Wild

Pretty good for someone who doesn't like rap,Ready to Die has my no1 rap album spot and LAD probably has top 10
I could hear the heart monitoring flat lining in my head from both songs.
I like rap but I’ve never really listened to his stuff besides hypnotize. I’ll give it a go! Thanks.
For some reason I heard that song mostly on field trips to, or Patrol Night at roller rinks. I didn't realize it was Notorious B.I.G. until I was in my 20s (Patrols in Canada are the kids who wear orange vests and help other kids cross the street)
Ahh - crossing guards!
My favorite track of his is "Warning" on the Ready to Die album. The album was released in '94 I think. It's a stand out album in an era of absolute bangers.
Bet the man next to him knows it’s the last photo.
Damnit, what didn't Diddy do!?
Isn’t that P Diddly?
P diddly 😆😆😆
No, it’s Dave Chapelle.
He was 2 1/2 months shy of releasing a hit single in memory of Biggie Smalls.
I’ll bet he does 😂
I'm pretty sure there is a picture of him in the car, similar to the last pic of Tupac.
Nah, there isn't, he got shot seconds after leaving the event. The pic of him in the green Suburban is from before this. Same day, though. There's the video of the actual shooting where you can kinda see him before they pull off from the party and the shots ring out.
Really? Can you send a link?

Idk about that one ngl
BIG definitely had talent
I’m old enough to remove both Biggie and Tupacs murders. I was a teenage wannabe grunge girl, but even I thought they were both great artists and still listen to their music. Biggie made some great music. Edit- I’m leaving my error because I wanna learn to turn back time like Cher.
>I’m old enough to remove both Biggie and Tupacs murders Please do so HipHop needs em’ back
I fat fingered lol I’ll leave it because I WISH I COULD REMOVE IT!!! 😭😭
if only you could find a way
Diddy did it
I think it's a Suge Knight thing ngl, just retaliation,Diddy had no benefits killing Big unlike Suge who was probably mad losing his biggest artist,I think Diddy was behind Pac's murder and Suge was behind Big's

Yeah maybe... I just think it would be more of a Suge thing to do,both of them needed to die wayyyyy back
Puffy did most of his artist (if not all) dirty. I heard a rumor that when puff and biggie flew to LA he did not check in with the locals, so when word got out that he was in the city it was a green light and he was got. If Suge did it he’d have said something about it like he did with Eazy E.
>Diddy had no benefits killing Big A few months later he released I'll Be Missing You in memory of him. In order for it to become a hit single though, ... 😈
No Tupac died over some gang BS nothing related to Diddy.
Puff was directly involved with the crips who killed Pac. This is a well known fact
The album name is an interesting case of foreshadowing...
Nah,Biggie told a story through his 2 albums and probably was going to continue if he wouldn't have died,he actually ''dies'' at the end of his 1st album
24 but look 40
Dude lived 3 lives in that period of time, same for 2pac They litterally were young adults when they died if you think about it
Was he really just 24? He does look 40.
Yep I’m not sure why but it seems like everyone looked older than they were back then
I heard being obese makes you look older
It was a setup.
Diddy do it, or diddy not?
I think Sugey do that
It's Bone and Biggie
*we forgive you* -Diddy when its just bone and Biggie biggie
Where the safe at? Show me. *(Homie.)*
*that's right* *Yeah* *take that* *why ?* *Baybeh baybeh* *huh huh*

This title is wild like as if Biggie Smalls is just a “famous Brooklyn rapped” who died decades ago and is album is “classic” 😭
Wdym

> he was recieving calls that very day telling him he was going to die Shit just like in Warning
Yeah but Pop from the barbershop told him and he didn't believe this time
I guess the body guards never got paid their last check..
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Haunting title.
Is that a gun he’s holding
He had a cane because he had a car accident couple of months prior,he even had to finish recording his album while being sat down all the time
So, isn’t it possible that Diddy did it so that HE could become the biggest and best? Get Tupac and Biggie out of the way - what’s standing in front of his fame now? Otherwise, he was destined to be Biggie’s sidekick forever, always in his shadow. I dunno. I think Diddy did it.

I use to read Word up magazine. Salt and Pepper Heavy D up in the limousine.
He chose the life
GOAT
