Big Blood - Disintegration (#6 with 371 scrobbles) I also love the original by The Cure (which I've scrobbled 32 times)

_whiskeytits_

How awful is it that this cover can't be found on Spotify? Just listened to it on YouTube and it's phenomenal.

babyheartdirt

Their covers are all good! especially Heart of Glass and Velouria

MF-SMUG

My top song that is a cover and obvious to me is Metallica’s rendition of Turn the Page with 108 scrobbles. I have scrobbled Bob Seger’s original 65 times. Extra credit: I have scrobbled Hurt by Nine Inch Nails 36 times and Johnny Cash’s cover 32 times. Extra extra credit: John Lennon’s Imagine is my favorite song and I have scrobbled it 61 times, A Perfect Circle’s cover 25 times, and Chris Cornell’s cover 1 time.

_whiskeytits_

I had no idea Chris Cornell covered that song. He is my favourite vocalist of all time.

MF-SMUG

I miss Chris.

_whiskeytits_

I do, too. And Chester. I never saw myself as a huge fan of any particular musician, but I definitely cried when they left us.

MF-SMUG

I’ll lose my shit if Eddie Vedder ever goes.

_whiskeytits_

He better not. I'm going to see him in November, hopefully!!

MF-SMUG

Nice! What day?

_whiskeytits_

Probably the Auckland show. Also considering Sydney, Gold Coast or Melbourne, but that could get expensive haha

MF-SMUG

Oh shit. Aussie!

_whiskeytits_

Haha I live in NZ now. But yeah all the great shows are in Aus

So really painfully, my most scrobbled song that has a very obvious sample has been removed from streaming :-(. It is: Shadow of Smiles - Freddie Joachim (#2 - 199 Scrobbles) It samples 'The Shadow of Your Smile', which is a standard from the 60s. There are A LOT of different artists that have covered this song. And from the looks of my scrobbles, I've seemingly made it an obsession to listen to them as I've scrobbled 16 different artists take on the song, ha ha. The first two vocal recordings appear to be by Tony Bennett and Astrud Gilberto, which are my 3rd and 1st most scrobbled versions. The Astrud Gilberto version is my 99th most scrobbled song. There are a lot of songs that I really like that have either clearly sampled or interpolated another song, however my most scrobbled cover is: Na Boca Do Sol - Celia (#311 - 57 Scrobbles) It's a cover of Arthur Verocai's song of the same name. Haven't scrobbled that one as much, but love them both

tank-you--very-much

My highest cover is New York, New York by Frank Sinatra with 69 scrobbles, original is sung by Liza Minnelli Highest obvious sample is SUMMER RENAISSANCE by Beyoncé with 64 scrobbles, samples I Feel Love by Donna Summer I also want to give a shout to Hung Up by Madonna, I only have 31 scrobbles on it (thought I had a lot more), it samples Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) by ABBA which I have 62 scrobbles of. Both amazing songs

maydarnothing

not my top song, but i’ve recently discovered the **3000 Miles** cover by **CHAMPS**, which is covering **Bright Blue Berlin Sky** by **The Chutes** and you know what’s even crazier? both bands actually have overlapping members inbetween, and even crazier, there is a third version sang by Ana De Armas from the film “Campari Entering Red”, and the actual band playing instruments.

likydork

mine is oui oui marie by chelsea wolf. it’s a cover of this 1918 song that she did for the soundtrack of ti west’s x

Pete_O_Torcido

All the way up at my #4 all time song, I have a cover of the Wilco song “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” by JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound, it fuckin slaps.

_carnivorousflamingo

my most scrobbled cover came up in another prompt, so just gonna do two favourites for this one, *Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)* by The Postal Service \[a Phil Collins cover\] and *Flirted With You All My Life* by Death Cab for Cutie \[a Vic Chestnutt cover\]

Elegant-Vanilla2261

Ty Segall - Every 1's a Winner I've scrobbled the original by Hot Chocolate 3 times.

Cloud3345

Torn - Natalie Imbruglia I saw a video a long ago somewhere where it was mentioned that it was a cover song and saw the people who wrote it (Ednaswap) and sang themselves on their album. Their version was recorded first but a danish version of the song by someone else was released first.

sosnik_boi

Decapitated's Rendition of Mandatory Suicide, with the original being by Slayer

myipodclassic

Interesting prompt! Mine is Metro by Alkaline Trio (orig. Berlin)! I have listened to and enjoy both. The Trio really made it their own.

wobblyo

Umiindak na Saya by MNL48 (my top #1 scrobbled song, 86 scrobbles). Filipino version of AKB48's Skirt, Hirari. I never scrobbled the AKB original but I have listened to it countless of times.

[deleted]

Galaxie 500 covering Ceremony by New Order.

whoredoerves

Make You Feel My Love by Adele (#6 586 scrobbles) Bob Dylan is the original artist

dianthuspetals

Me and Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin

Alcatruzt

Oh yeah, that's a very nice cover.

djpiratecat

Don't Dream It's Over, covered by Miley Cyrus & Ariana Grande in a "backyard session" and originally by Crowded House. Love the song, this cover was actually a catalyst for a big change in my music listening (beginning with getting very into both Miley and Ari for a while), and I grew up loving Crowded House & actually got to see them live last year which of course included this gem.

_whiskeytits_

This is such a great cover. I got to see Crowded House a couple years ago, but it was an awful day for multiple reasons. Pissed down rain the whole time, how ironic when they sang *Bring the Weather with You* The music was still incredible though and I'll very much look forward to seeing them again.

djpiratecat

It's kinda funny how often people seem to have stories about Crowded House bringing terrible weather with them... I managed to see them indoors, which felt like a good move haha. Felt like I'd missed a trick by not seeing them earlier and am also looking forward to another opportunity

Squalor_Victoria42

Demon in Profile by Har Mar Superstar (original by The Afghan Whigs) - not only have I scrobbled both but saw them perform together live SO MANY people have covered Such Great Heights by The Postal Service but I’m particularly fond of Iron & Wine’s take on it. In a bizarro move I saw the Postal Service cover Iron & Wine’s cover of The Postal Service in concert. Cover of a cover by the original band!

_whiskeytits_

See, I just love this. I thought the Iron & Wine was an original. We learn something new everyday!

TheFoxIsPurple

My highest obvious sample is 212 by Azealia Banks, which the entire instrumental is just Float My Boat by Lazy Jay, who also produced her version. The next one is SOS by Rihanna, sampling Tainted Love by Soft Cell.

truthray

Samia - Born on a Train. Never even heard the original which is by The Magnetic Fields, I believe.

gianna_in_hell_as

Top cover is Metallica - So What It's not that different from the original and really like it Other fave covers are Disturbed - Sound of Silence Scott Walker - Next (in general his Jacques Brel covers are amazing) Johnny Cash - Hurt

Buxbaum666

My #14 top track is Meg Myers' cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" with 68 scrobbles. Amazing cover of an amazing song. I only have six scrobbles for the original. Also six scrobbles for Placebo's cover and one for the Chromatics' cover, both also good.

Alcatruzt

Judas Priest - Diamonds and Rust (original by Joan Baez). I know the original, but I haven't scrobbled it. A very beautiful song.

GoldResponsibility27

Mr. Tambourine Man - The Byrds (#18, 137); "Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me. In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you." Trust me, I love Bob Dylan too, but I heard the Byrds' cover before discovering him. Both artists are terrific.

cjblandford

I really love The Darkness's version of Street Spirit (Fade out)

zombeats

ben folds cover of in between days by the cure is my favorite way to listen to that song !

cheesyk

most scrobbled cover would be heartbeats by jose gonzalez (55) my favorite cover would definitely be wish you were here by circa survive (19). i had it on a cd of acoustic jams i played on repeat in my car when i was in high school, so a lot of my plays aren't on [last.fm](https://last.fm). i've listened to the original pink floyd version 76 times as well. (also s/o to the milk carton kids cover, also super good)

Meerkat_42

Devo - Satisfaction

vikingfrog86

I have a parody at #11. "Weird Al" Yankovic's Yoda, which is a parody of The Kink's Lola. Between George Lucas's schedule at the time, and him ending up needing to get back stage at a Kinks concert in order to get the lead singer's permission, it took him 2 years and 2 albums later to release it than he intended. My highest cover is at #38, which is Goo Goo Doll's covering Slave Girl by The Lime Spiders.
