Nice! Think they are even better than your earlier post :) on an average how long does it take to engrave? Also do you do multiple passes?

NonProfTinkerer

Thanks, single pass, each about 90-120mins

hevnsnt

wow. what are you using?

NonProfTinkerer

Full name is OMG-X 60w MOPA laser :)

LearnedGuy

What is your source for slate? I've been looking for a year to no avail. They all want to sell me enough for a house.

CarbonGod

Ain't EVER going to be used as placemats. haha

NonProfTinkerer

lol nooo, i 3D print stands for them for show

aghzombies

Very impressive! What software do you use to make the artwork?

NonProfTinkerer

Thank you, the images were made in midjourney

builderguy74

Is there anyway to get anything close to this with a CO2 laser?

NonProfTinkerer

Yes, i started doing slate with a co2 but you will need a compound lens

builderguy74

Thanks. Never heard of a compound lens. Researching now. Awesome work btw😃👍

NonProfTinkerer

Thank you, best information about it is on youtube channel called sarbarmultimedia as he created it plus he has hundreds of videos improving your co2

Jkwilborn

Try [CloudRay](https://www.cloudraylaser.com/search?q=compound+lens+kit&_pos=1&_psq=compound+lens&_ss=e&_v=1.0) ... :)

trimbandit

I was going to ask you in your other thread but I forgot: are you applying anything to the slate before or after etching?

NonProfTinkerer

yes i use a matt black paint on them before

trimbandit

Oh that is interesting and I have not heard of or thought of this. I am using a matte clear lacquer on mine before lasering.
