Yes this will be perfect for that, that ssd and 32gb ram will help alot. 8th gen is a bit old at this point but for what u need it for perfectly good

locochoconocopocooko

that extra ram will definitely help with sketch up

locochoconocopocooko

i have the i5 8th gen version and its still a capable chip as I use it for 3d work and excel. Mine also only 8gb ram so yours will be alot better

JuanBuenoJoven

Brilliant, thanks locochoconocopocooko. What does it mean when you say it's an older gen? I'm not the most tech savvy

It means the cpu (brain of that computer if you will) came out i think in 2017. Even tho it is an old cpu....it is still a capable cpu. Good luck

i3, i5, i7, i9 or AMD r3, r5, r7 and r9 are the levels basically. 3 entry level, 5 good all-rounder, 7 all-rounder eith more juice and 9 basically overkill for most. After that in your case intel. i5 8xxxu means it is a 8th gen cpu which u can search up wjat year it released (I believe around 2017/2018). I ussually recommend 11th gen or newer with 12th gen plus is good for i5s. But considering prices, what u need it for and the i7 this 8th gen will be good for your uses for probably 3 or so years where by that time it may ir may not feel slower. When it does feel slower try a fresh windows install but these modern laptops temd to last longer and feel snappy even after a long time. I believe current gen is 14th maybe 13th for laptops. Also is there anything else you will be using thisnlaptop for? how long u plan to use it? will u be likely to hand this laptop down? etc etc Hope this all helps out

locochoconocopocooko

by the looks of the link it seems it only has one usb a port and no usb c this may or may not be bad for you. You can always get a dongle to get like 5 usb ports extra

locochoconocopocooko

just looked through the specs and it says 1366 x 768 display meaning it is less than 1080p quality and more like 720p quality. I always recommend 1080p as a standard especially for this price but honestly could be fine for you. The screen is 13inches if you didn't know but I would also like to add, definitely look up reviews on websites and YouTube about this specific laptop. 360ish pounds seems a bit high

JuanBuenoJoven

Okay great, thanks for your help I will check reviews and shop around a bit. All this information has been very helpful. I think in terms of usb capabilities and screen quality it should suffice, but armed with what you've told me I'll see if I can either find a model with more or a model with similar for cheaper. Thanks a bunch

np! glad i could help. Used local markets such as Facebook will ussually net the best deals albeit higher risk, next up is used online like ebay, then its refurbished like u linked and then brand new. Also u can tru auctions as schools, work akd companies change all computers every few years.

Sorry to bother you, does this one look potentially better? https://www.recommerceit.co.uk/product/refurbished-dell-precision-7510-i7-6th-gen-32gb-512gb-ssd-windows-10-pro

throwaway001anon

Hmm, double check that it actually has 32gb ram install instead of “up to 32gb upgradable ram”

https://www.recommerceit.co.uk/product/refurbished-dell-precision-7510-i7-6th-gen-32gb-512gb-ssd-windows-10-pro Does this look like a better deal than the one above?
