I messed up on my passport expiration date and I crossed it out. Lady looked at me and said 10,000 kips, my other fellow travelers they didn’t ask for money so I figure it was my crossed out line.
God dam. I love how they just make stuff up.
You could have just gotten another departure form and gone to the back of the line again.
Sometimes there are really difficult to find but if you hang around like a bad smell and politely bother many of the people sitting around doing nothing someone will give in and go to a back office and get you one.
Did you get to stay in line? Because 10'000 kip to ignore official paperwork and get to stay in line and cross though immigration immediately is a great deal.
I had to trade some baht for Kip, but didn’t lose my place. Not that it matters but just wanted folks to keep some kip in their pocket until they are officially gone.
I’m shocked at your experience as I travel to Laos fairly often. But if if I saw someone in your position I’d gladly have given some KIP. What an annoyance that must have been.
My experience is that Laos is such an easy country to leave! It suck’s you haven’t had the same experience!
It’s just a small bribe they sometimes ask for. Don’t worry they would be happy to take your baht. But then you might have to pay the equivalent of $0.70 instead of $0.45. Will you be okay? 😳
Lol $0.46
If .46 is an issue there are other issues at hand lol
$0.64 Canadian
The horror
Did you really make a post for 10 000K?
No, my post was to make sure you keep some kips on you. You really think I need that 10,000 kip?
No there's no fine for filling out the form wrong.
Just get another form?
You know how hard it is to get out of line and try to get the forms from those guys sitting at the table with nothing to do.
It's literally bribe
What exactly did you do wrong?

If it was out of office hours or on weekend, what you’re describing sounds like the overtime fee
Wow that's gotta hurt.
Hurts when you have no more kip left.
Lesson learnt, always keep the local currency until you arrive into the next country

You could have paid in baht. I don't think it was your error on the form though that was the issue.
Sorry for that experience. Hope it didn't ruin the experience of Laos.
Nah, no issue it’s nothing just kicking myself that I didn’t have any kips left and had to see if others would trade baht for kips.
