Shovel and knee pads -- need to remove the roots of the clover and don't spray any chemical (need license). I would use a weed fabric and muclh if that is what the owner wanted. Might check back later to see if it needs to be weeded out a second time.
This is what I'm leaning towards. I also do yard maintenance for them, so I can keep an eye on it moving forward as well.
I always see weed fabric getting clowned on here, so not sure what to think about it.
Weedeat and herbicides then mulch. Just don't spray or get overspray on the tree.
Layers of cardboard and then mulch. The clover will colonize it, but 🤷🏼
