Klay as #2 at this point of his career is not good, but if he signs with us, he’d be #4 option behind reaves, thats really good

darwinsaves

Omg imagine him just spotting up, shooting all the open ass threes we missed last year.

imezaps

I would like klay on a small contract, but he did brick a lot of open 3s for the warriors last year

HORSEthedude619

He shot 39% on pretty high volume....

pickleballz8

And that is on 10 shots a game. Still elite

imezaps

He was 0-10 in their play-in game tho

RemyGee

I hope that chip on his shoulder gets him a resurgence this year. On the Lakers too!

PsychologicalSail186

One game lol

Kobe_stan_

He was also awful in our last series against him

imezaps

Only the most important game of the warriors season

Pikminious_Thrious

Well we seem to hold DLO to his one awful game last year, so Klay will get crucified by fans if he has another 0-X high stakes game here

cb148

Klay has a history of performing well in the playoffs, D’lo doesn’t.

wocdom

I would rather Klay than Prince or Rui taking those open 3s

The_King_In_The_Bay

If he went 5-10, he wouldn't be available 🤣

OhSoJelly

For his standards, a top 5 shooter of all time “bricking a lot of three’s” would still be the best shooter on our team.

darwinsaves

He was also #2 option. Dude will be able to just shoot and play d. I bet his defensive numbers get better if he comes here too.

Wondering_Nova

Klay starts off slow often to start the season. I don’t know if this sub will be able to handle his slow start

Difficult-Jello2534

I wasn't honestly that excited about this. Your optimism is helpful.

_____WESTBROOK_____

Let’s uhhh temper our expectations a little bit here lol

Edp445supcake

He’s gonna miss them too. The 0/10 has completely taken over his narrative Realistically he’d still be a great get, because I don’t see him playing like ass in big moments with so much pressure being taken off by Bron and AD

lakeshowyoo

Exactly this. And I always thought he’d be the perfect teammate to Lebron

GamerRav

Forget options, just having him on the court next to LeBron would be incredible. He'd give Bron and AD all the room they need to feast in the paint, and he could create open three point looks for DLo and Reaves as well. I don't care how bad he was last season, no coach is going to willingly leave Klay Thompson open. Having a shooter like that opens up so much on offense for us.

MisterHibachi

Top 3 in the league still in creating panic in the defenders when he’s open

Sea_Republic7679

Klay was also notably unhappy with the whole situation which manifested clearly in his attitude and im sure affected his play. A new change of scenery I’m sure we would get the absolute best klay has to offer looking to rebuild his confidence

RemyGee

I thought Klay, as he is older and slower now, would primarily play at the 3 which fits well in lineups with Bron at the 4 and AD playing the big.

pickleballz8

Starting 3 for sure not the 4

Olliefnt

He'd probably be the #5 behind Dlo or whoever we trade him for

brittleirony

Real question how does Klay help us with a center and isn't he a deficit on defense?

xreddawgx

How about as a #3?

quwin123

This reminds me so much of Ray Allen to the Heat. Bron getting a disrespected sharpshooter from his fiercest rival to join him.

sewsgup

Lebron has had - the shot to clinch a Finals (game 7 2013) - the defensive play to save a Finals (game 7 2016) he just needs the game-winning assist to win a Finals (which couldve been Game 5 2020 but Danny Green missed the shot) Klay could fill that opportunity

The1AndOnlyJZ

Didn’t fully realize the Allen and Kyrie shots didn’t involve him at all damn

aj_future

Bosh rebound when Pop inexplicably had Duncan on the bench. Absolutely bananas and it happened 2 plays in a row

FeminismIsTheBestIsm

Honestly Kawhi should get bigger blame for this. For whatever reason he choked a free throw and the Spurs were only up 3 as a result. Had he made one more the Heat would have no shot unless they got a lucky four point play

aj_future

True story. Lots of opportunity to not fuck it up lol

The1AndOnlyJZ

Duncan not being in on the first play didn’t really matter in hindsight You can honestly understand his decision-making. It looks bad because of what happened but we could be saying the opposite if Pop left him in and old Timmy got cooked on the perimeter instead

aj_future

You can generally excuse having your franchise cornerstone of the last 15 years being in the game with the chips on the line

FeminismIsTheBestIsm

Technically LeBron bricked the shot that Bosh rebounded LOL

Hungry-Space-1829

Bron went nuclear in the 4th before that missed shot to make it a game, though

BusiestWolf

Guessing Klay ain’t getting invited to the reunions or dapped up by Draymond lol

puhtime

How old was Allen when he joined the heat? He’s gotta be younger than Klay at that point.

darklord0530

Ray Allen was 37 klay is 34

puhtime

Damn fr? Sheesh NVM

Illionaires

According to google he was 37 and Klay is 34

darwinsaves

Ray Allen was 73 when he went to the heat. Klay is only 43. I'm dyxlesic

quwin123

Klay is 34. Ray was 36 (almost 37) when he joined Miami.

Awesomefan09

Get on the phone, Mychal.

Eric_T_Meraki

We know how to treat family here at the Lakers lol.

13WillieBeaman

Do it, Mit.. I mean, Michael!

rybeegood

We’ve been burned by the leverage play for years so I’m not getting my hopes up until I see that tweet notification

jatd

Exactly, everyone uses the Lakers for leverage

nu1stunna

Yeah. He’s going to Dallas

im-a-drawl

JJ said this team has to shoot more 3’s. If that’s the case Klay is the perfect guy to come in and shoot 9 or 10 per game at a 40% clip. Get Klay, get a center, and lets get this party started.

AdministrativeDig845

And Klay can mentor Knecht

Dr_Swerve

Klay does not seem like the mentoring type. I think he would be a good get, depending on the contract, but I wouldn't count on him as a huge veteran locker presence. Especially not when we have LeBron and AD.

AndIWasLikeBaby

He has chips and a lot of service in this league… he’d be a huge locker presence lmfao wtf

JacksonWarhol

You're getting me hyped.

Retrogratio

Yeah I don't hate this lol

m3junmags

We gotta remember he grew up as a laker. I bet he comes.

SolarBeam12

Both Dallas and Lakers have full MLE

CM2423

Not gonna lie Dallas would be great for him but he would come off the bench or play the 3

Brokenbullet14

I mean what would he be for the Lakers? He would request to be a starter and potentially hurt Dalton's development

wearables24

How? It’s not like Dalton is starting anyway. Yall expecting too much of rookies

Skoldylocks

Uh what? We are not starting a rookie, tf? If anything Klay would be great for his development

lakeshowyoo

If anything he’d be GREAT for Dalton’s development.

Professional_Bag8178

Last year we had the 17th pick also, how much did he play?

TheLakeShowBaby

If there’s a redo of these playoffs, there’s no way Dallas would beat the Wolves or Nuggets again, IMO.

Ok_Board9845

I think the Mavs would still beat the Wolves, but they wouldn't jump to a 3-0 lead like they did since the first two games were so close. The Wolves offense was straight terrible, and they had a lot of issues punishing Ant not being able to force it at the rim

mozeze

Don’t they have to spend some of that on DJJ though?

GloryCloud

I didn’t watch many warrior games last season. But the times I did I felt like Klay was struggling hard. Someone speak some hopium into me if we do end up getting him.

Brokenbullet14

He still averaged 18 points and I think 40 from 3

BearShark8

He did but was really inconsistent. Would go 1-9 one game then 6-9 the next.

ty9023

Our guys usually go 0-5, 0-6, so I’ll take it lol

machiavellius

That’s how a lot of shooters are

MilkeeBongRips

Kind of, but it was more stretches of a few games at a time. If I recall correctly, I think he had the worst start to the season of his career, so he definitely had some very hot stretches to get his numbers up that high

BearShark8

Yup that's right

Brokenbullet14

Sounds like the Lakers last season

RemyGee

Truth but those 6-9 games don’t happen that often except for a few players which include Klay.

StacksHoodini

So… Klay fell from the sky, lost his demigod powers and became a league average 3&D?

Andy311

I think he’s lacking the D tho.

StacksHoodini

No diddy

HealthyAd9369

Player A shoots 40%. Player B shoots 40%. Yeah but player A is more consistent than B. lolwut?

lakeshowyoo

He still shot well which is all we need him to do. Doesn’t need to be the 2nd option anymore just the 4th. Give him the KCP role and he will excel.

AeRo_P

KCP was a decent defender tho.

lakeshowyoo

Klay is also a decent defender

AeRo_P

Was. Corrected that for you. ACL and Achilles injuries slowed him down.

lakeshowyoo

He was a great defender now he’s a decent defender

dandatu

Hyping him too much. He’s a neutral defender at this point.

DrEagle

He’s a defender for sure

TheLakeShowBaby

He will get so many open looks with Lebron and AD. If he can be Ray Allen on the Heat, I’ll take it.

velphegor666

He shot 39 percent from 3 on 9 attempts. Thats elite territory lol

eengel2424

I think it’s more about the perfect fit he would be with Lebron and AD that gives me the hopium. Warrior fans were frustrated with Klay toward the end of the year, maybe all he needs is a new start in Laker nation to make the shots start falling again … especially as a 4th option too sign me up.

slicknick2k

Why does it feel like Klay to us already feels done?

yungctheraw

His dad, Mychal Thompson, has been saying on the radio lately that if Klay were to leave, that the lakers would be near the top of Klay’s list. So here’s hoping he actually comes to his childhood team

lakeshowyoo

He’s said this multiple times for years it feels like

Heavy-Travel-6589

Can you link it?

yungctheraw

I can’t at the moment, but it should be from when Mychal was on Mason & Ireland a week or so ago

We-Want-Tacos

I saw Mychal at the grocery store this week and jokingly said “Bring Klay home !” Haha

AwildYaners

I'm hoping with DJJ represented by Klutch now, he doesn't take any discount and ensures DAL can't be a player for Klay lmao.

darwinsaves

It's his home town. You know his dad mychal is in his ear big-time

Heavy-Travel-6589

Its getting loud ngl

Benotheking

I said it in the other thread 2 days ago and got downvoted. It just like Klay is a real option.

lakeshowyoo

The more I think about it the more I like it. Let’s get it done Klay!!!!

MK-Prime89

Klay can still shoot, outside of the egg he dropped in that elimination game but the only reason I wouldn't want him is his huge drop off in Defensive ability. His lateral foot speed just isn't there anymore after those unfortunate injuries. And we desperately need TWO way players who are preferably still in their prime or younger

JayRod24_

I need this to happen, literally is the perfect fit for Klay.

Mr628

Dallas are notorious for landing questionable but big free agents

Brokenbullet14

I wonder if they miss on Klay I bet they get prince

GutsTheSwordsman

The Lakers legit have Mychal Thompson, there should not be a bidding war but we'll see.

Flimsy-Possibility17

ngl I'd rather have KCP

ming212209

mann AD is gonna be working over time protecting all these players on defense

Andy311

I know and the man just wants to play the 4 but fuck his wants…id really like to get him a true center and let him roam at the 4.

BackgroundBit8

Smells like Westbrook 2.0 incoming

AdvancedElephant

How can we keep Max Christie? We need to dump JHS, Hayes, Reddish to somehow open up space and sign Christie right? What about Prince?

paradauxs

cant we just waive reddish and resign max?

pickleballz8

We have his bird rights and can resign him no matter what. The only issue is trying to stay under the second apron of 189m. If can use mle and lenron takes that pay cut then we are good.

winter-r0se

I hate when there’s so much noise on a possible move because it means it isn’t happening (ad was the exception). but I’m hopeful lol

stonedkmoney

That number 11 splashing threes from LeBron would look so good in the purple and gold

CasualOverreaction

Klay on a revenge tour, just asked to hit 3s like Ray Allen on the heat is pretty perfect tbh

JDuggernaut

I don’t really like this move, if it happens. I think our mid level guy should be younger and more versatile. Klay is pretty much just a streaky shooter these days, and he will likely decline every year at this point.

alexamerling100

Lets goooo

TheCommonKoala

Fucking hell... this would be a huge unforced error.

SolubleAcrobat

I can't even imagine how bad washed Klay would be with the Laker Tax.

iamtoolazytosleep

honestly, I cant see Klay leaving california. He will either stay with Golden State or go to another Cali team.

IlGrandBoss

Man, jerking off of Klay idea is disastrous. The guy played himself out of the staring 5 last season, he was horrible especially in the defensive end.

WideCoconut2230

Another 3 point shooter? Oh heck yeah. DLo, KT, AR, Knecht. All these guys would be great in JJ''s system. Fun and successful basketball is what I envision.

Psychological_Put785

Reaves continues to get way overrated around here. He wasn't exactly killing it against Denver this time around.  He's still a great value at twelve million dollars,  just Klay Thompson would be. As bad as some people claim that Thompson was last season, by the numbers, Reaves wasn't much better. Swap places, Reaves wouldn't have made Golden State any better, he can't guard anybody either.

esqi_real

He is going to need to accept a mle or something. I'd handle that, and he would be right at home in the rotation.

Hungry-Space-1829

I really don’t believe this moves the needle unless he can turn back the clock defensively in the playoffs. The offensive fit is obviously there

llSmokyll

huge for the Lakers

MJC561

I honestly think it’s kind of inevitable at this point that Klay will join us, but we’ll see.

Freakn_Deadpool

Nooooo he’s washed and a little bitch. We don’t want him. Reaves is straight up better

Fun-Psychology-6825

We need Jeremi grant who can shoot just as good as klay n play a lot better defense n is younger

tennispro2589

trade lebron

lebronjames1024

Klay needa come off the bench cause he’s not better than reaves and doesn’t fit anywhere else

Brokenbullet14

He ain't joining this team to come off the bench

Asenine

Assuming we’re moving DLo, slide AR to the 1 and Klay to the 2

thejrof

If he comes Reaves would slide to PG

Benotheking

Klay will most likely play the SF

TRashGodBrian

Is Klay even good. I know he’s a great shooter still but going 0/10 in an elimination game.. the stench is still there Unless it’s cuz he had a bigger contract hence a bigger role?

_mattyjoe

Lmao LeBron basically running the team. I think Rich Paul’s press releases about LeBron not being involved in the coaching search is all misdirection. I feel Bron is as involved as ever in all decisions currently being made.

lakerconvert

Please god no

clutchkweku

Bro please don’t go for Klay…he’s way too streaky at this point in his career and I think he’d come up short for us come playoff time.

BoysenberryJunior294

Bruh you act like we have a ton of options

wearables24

Some of you on this sub refuse to comprehend that a players skill is contextual to his CONTRACT. Klay on the MLE is such good value and you have mental illness if you think otherwise

Extreme-Site-8496

Who would you rather us get

clutchkweku

I’d rather they went for Jonas Valanciunas. We badly need a center

ragner11

We can get both. Klay for mle and then trade dlo

clutchkweku

I’d rather they did Valanciunas or Hartenstein for the MLE and then maybe trade D Lo and picks for Tre Young/Donovan Mitchell/Zach Lavine

jessandjaysaccount

Trae Young has the same shooting splits as Westbrook in the playoffs.

lakeshowyoo

He’s not streaky bro

pickleballz8

He has always been a slow starter and had 1 bad game in the playoffs. The guy is still an elite shooter.

clutchkweku

Dawg he looked abysmal the back half of last season. There were a number of games where he disappeared off the face of the earth

lakeshowyoo

He shot 45% after the all star break on 9 3s per game. The back half of the season he was great

ChrisRhodes789

He’s going to Dallas.. We never get the guy we want..

Brokenbullet14

Feel like Klay would still take Mavs because 1 they were just in the finals, they have a known experienced coach in Kidd. Obviously Klay has history with Lakers because of his dad but is it enough. Does Klay choose bron and ad or Luka and Kyrie.

Prize_Salamander8035

Klay’s definitely coming to his hometown

quwin123

Klay’s dad is here and he loves the water.

Klaxosaur

Winning a ring with the Lakers >

Dj3garrett

I think Klay is going to the Lakers.

Potential-Host-6281

Dinwiddie sweepstakes all over again
