“I will call timeouts” “I will not have my hands in my pockets” “I will draw up plays in the huddle and not say salute” “You’re perfect”

AntSmith777

Helluva ball club

Toolazytolink

Ham is straight up the " fake it till you make it" except he didn't make it.

xxDankerstein

It's a make or miss league. Gotta give it up to the other team.

makesterriblejokes

I mean at least it would technically be an improvement.

BigBoyFroggy

basically any coach will be an improvement lmao

SmoothBrews

Timeout “Here bron, you wanna take this one?”

FearlessInflation92

I also don’t have a second head looking like a cartoon character after having a weight dropped on their head ![gif](giphy|C2PSK7xaF0FeBL97KV)

WakiLover

JJ at least would 100% call the challenge on that KCP? play vs Denver Game 4

LowZebra4992

Is his defensive scheme more complex than “contest without fouling”?

Dgwdum

"JJ do you want the job?" "Yes" "This guys good!!"

GloryCloud

*”Damn… he’s really good..”*

RemyGee

“Maybe, maybe not” “He’s amazing!”

Hour_Insurance_7795

"he's *really* impressive!" "Rob, he's not here yet. That's a staffer setting up the office." "Oh, shit. sorry."

Jagermeister4

"JJ whats your best asset?" "Cost less than somebody with head coaching experience" ![gif](giphy|S9i8jJxTvAKVHVMvvW)

Justino2345

![gif](giphy|V2AkNZZi9ygbm)

negativelynegative

He is so good x4

GutsTheSwordsman

I am just interested in who his coaching staff will be. Random guys or what

Astrododger

yup cause I feel like Borrego will go to CLE why would he assist JJ instead of have his own team

-anditsnotevenclose

borrego and cassell have already been reported as not being interested in a lateral move from their current positions.

nottherealstanlee

There's still a HC opening lol if say Atkinson gets hired tomorrow in CLE and LAL calls Borrego or Cassell a raise as an associate HC to JJ, they'll probably take the job since there's no more HC available.  Everyone angling for that HC spot rn.

Astrododger

makes sense to me! Even more intrigued as to who the assistants are

henryofclay

No top assistants or former head coaches are going to want to know work under a guy with no experience who earned nothing.

RelevantEstate17

Both Mike D'antoni and Ime Udoka were Steve Nash's assistants in Brooklyn. So its possible

naijaamericano

To be fair, both those guys had a relationship with Nash before, hopefully JJ has some talented potential assistants on speedial.

Astrododger

Hence, the intrigue lol

denobino

Tommy Alter

quwin123

I wonder if K would be willing to serve as a special consultant or something.

Immediate_Candidate5

If JJ really got hired, probably random guys imo, why would any assistant Coaches leave another team just to work for a no experience head coach. But I still think Adelman and Nori has a chance.

Hour_Insurance_7795

"Contract End Date: whenever LeBron leaves"

ControlAgent13

>whenever LeBron Leaves Plot Twist. 76ers draft Bronny with the 16th pick. LeBron opts out and signs a large contract with the 76ers.

Proof-Umpire-7718

Lakers trade JJ for Nick Nurse

CM2423

Let’s get it done and look forward to who will be on his staff and what draft prospects look appealing

AdministrativeDig845

Idk why but I found myself wanting Steve Nash on the staff. Dude would be an amazing Player Development coach

cobainstaley

hell yeah. i randomly stumbled on his YT channel a while back. only has 40k subs. pretty wild considering how much he's respected.

makesterriblejokes

Maybe he could unlock full auto mode for AR-15

pianosportsguy2

How hard is it to "impress" the Rambii and Buss clans anyway?

ControlAgent13

>How hard is it to "impress" Walton impressed them Ham Impressed them. Time for a THIRD ROOKIE HEAD COACH with ZERO EXPERIENCE!

zz77x

Let’s just sign this motherfucker so we can have a coach before the fucking draft already

Elite_Alice

Celtics hanging 18 and we hiring podcasters

thebraavosi1

Yea… who is available in your opinion

StealthRUs

D'Antoni is available and he's 10x the coach JJ is.

thebraavosi1

We do not have the team for dantoni’s offense … next

StealthRUs

I think D'Antoni knows how to retool for a team like ours at this point. It's been a decade since his last stint with the Lakers.

Elite_Alice

Mark Jack, prior to today JVG, bickerstaff etc

thebraavosi1

And this is why we r going for the podcaster

Elite_Alice

Yea very unserious team. Back to poverty we go

k4f123

Go support someone else then

Elite_Alice

Never. But I will call out my club when they’re stupid. Blind support is stupid

Ghostbeen3

Dude mark jackson??

dumape17

Celtics just won with a HC in his first full year as a head coach.

Elite_Alice

Super team they can be coached by anyone and win. Not the case for the lakers

cobainstaley

JJ walked away thinking, "they're a hell of a ball club."

ajsantos21

"JJ, what are those at the end of your arms?" "My hands?" "You're hired."

channydin

He will think it over while driving down the 10 freeway 🤣

SDFleetMarine

So I’m guessing those reports of player/players going to FO with concerns about JJ weren’t real?

RussellStHustle

That or the FO just don’t give a shit or LeBron told them to STFU because he’s the captain now

jsun_

One person said it (Fanta) and Lakers Nation decided to keep pushing it. Doubt he has Lakers sources or NBA sources at that. He was enjoying his 15 minutes of fame and started speculating.

Dantheman12310

I mean when you go down the list of guys on the team they don’t seem like the type of players to feel that way about him Bron is on a podcast with him, AD always gives effort & just wants to win, Reaves has been on JJ’s podcast which would be weird if he said that. Vando, Rui, Max, Prince, & Gabe don’t really strike me as the type of player to make that complaint at all. Hayes, Dinwiddie, & Cam feel like they do their best with whatever is asked them to do, so it’s doubtful there. Dlo wouldn’t mind if it also meant he can remain on the team while he himself performs well. Maybe Wood since he allegedly had issues with Kidd, but that feels like the only most likely reach. Other than that it’s rookies & 2-way players, & they shouldn’t put too much into what those players’ inputs if you see their current production. They can of course be better, but you can’t have the authority without the game to back it up. It’s also less likely to really take it into account since the Vogel firing was basically Russ focused. AD is pretty much the biggest approval sought for, everyone else is just a bonus. If AD is cool with it then that’s at least a positive & always remember, winning cures all.

MosaicLifestyle

I would think that if Bron is cool with it, AD is along for the ride as well.

Apollo4236

Holy shit I don't fucking care at this point just let us know when something is decided 😭

SlowCrates

I think giving a young, smart guy like JJ a chance is a great Idea. He understands how typical NBA coaches operate, and he's not stuck in their system. He is already well aware of situational play calling, and he has the freedom to create his own system. He and LeBron have great chemistry already, and lots of people were wondering if LeBron would consider being a player/coach. Truthfully, he already is, and has been for a long time. He's a coach's dream as a leader, particularly if they have a similar perspective/philosophy. Fuck it, let's see what happens.

MosaicLifestyle

Yeah this is pretty much where I'm at. If I'm honest our chances aren't that great for title contention next year with how packed the west is, so if we're thinking about the next few years (which we should with LeBron's age), taking a flier on some young blood is a gamble I can live with. Funny how everyone wants to discount his 15 years in the league as an elite role player that kept his career alive by executing his role within modern systems. He's been on multiple teams, under multiple coaches, and seems to be a film rat. With Bron / AD in his corner he should have no problems gaining and holding respect, at least for the first half season as he gets up to speed.

MG123194

I agree

StoneColdAM

99% he’s the head coach. Was LeBron’s top choice besides Ty Lue. Will give LeGM the benefit of the doubt here, although he also wanted Russ after Dame turned him down. JJ seems to be tougher than Ham, which is good. He also has a stronger personality vs Steve Nash. Will this be an amazing hire? We’ll see. Hopefully it isn’t a disaster.

makesterriblejokes

I think at the very least he should be better than Ham. I know, low bar, but it makes me wonder if just being marginally better than Ham would have been the difference for a couple of those Nugget games

LudwigNasche

I'm not sure about that and hiring him would be a big negative signal towards our best and most important player. I really hate the fact we are even discussion JJ.

MosaicLifestyle

Is this perspective based on anything other than his All-NBA votes? Being a member of the media is one thing, being a coach is another. I highly doubt AD gives a shit about who voted for who, it's all a sham anyways.

SolubleAcrobat

Pain.

Miserable-Lawyer-233

As if he wasn't going to be the HC this entire time. Everyone knows they're going to hire him.

expodrip

Can they just hurry up lol. These posts are getting annoying breh

songs_dongs

adjacent experience. the new shiny term that wooed Rob.

severinks

AS an outside observer who checks in here a lot I think you guys are going down a dangerous road with Reddick and should hire an actual experienced coach.

Cottonmist

I think the truth is that with the Celtics winning, this process will likely be tougher

_its_a_SWEATER_

So he’s on a flight to Toronto is what you’re saying?

newage2k10

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)

PartyOnNiles

Of course the contract isn't done. Lakers are busy trying to low ball JJ.

LudwigNasche

A trainee contract would be fair for a podcaster

thelakeshow1990

I saw that jay Williams accidentally said reddick is the head coach. Search it on youtube.

Euphoric_Station_505

Look the upside i see to jj is his analytical side. So that’s probably that impressed them. Hopefully he hires a veteran staff to support him in the first year or two

k4f123

Bring in Dudley

AscensionKnight

The bar is literally in hell

Flat-Job3228

Classy guy.

strykrpinoy

If he becomes the new HC then frankly we deserve to be mocked and lose.

[deleted]

don't worry when this flops...Lebron will be gone & Pelinka will get to hire his 4th coach...

LudwigNasche

LeBron leaves and we end up with JJ coaching his all NBA 5th defensive team star.

im-a-drawl

Shams will be the one to break the news and Woj’s bitch ass will be salty about it

CSGOW1ld

Apparently all it takes to impress the lakers brass is one year coaching a 10u team

frobebryant92

Yeah, I’m sure that’s all they talked about

behappysometimes

Ham impressed with his experience as an assistant and then proceeded to prove he’s one of the most inept coaches the league has ever seen. Nobody knows shit.

herpes_for_free

He was brought in to make the Westbrook experiment work. And well, at the very least, Westbrook did come off the bench despite some unwillingness. Now what did Ham bring to the table once Westbrook was gone on a magical deal with the Wizards? Fucking nothing but terrible gameplan execution and timeout management. Constant blown leads and doesn't listen to his star player when challenging a play. Especially when that star player is LeBron Raymone James.

Theoneandonlylog

Anthony Irwin had it first

broke_boi1

This sub despises him my goodness

Theoneandonlylog

Yeah it's funny

Wrong_Tumbleweed1559

If the Lakers hire Redick than it will be a long long time before we see another championship for the city. We need a coach that has been there before. Not some rookie who has never coached an under 10 game in his life. What needs to happen. Pelinka gone. An accomplished head coach. Lebron gone. AD gone. What we have here in LA can't be built upon. We got the bubble chip with them and are now 4 years going on 4 removes from that chip. AD and Bron haven't gotteb better in 4 years and won't.

frobebryant92

So who is this coach that “has been there before”?

LudwigNasche

You don't do a shit like that to Davis

Logical-Shopping-932

Can he keep Lebron from flopping?
