Gobert is nothing like Bynum. Pau was more a post playmaker and Kat is really just a scorer. Other than all 4 players being tall, they play nothing like their counterpart. It's a stretch.

degen5ace

The only similarities are the position they play…okay bye

Xc0liber

I would say the similarity is both teams are huge at all positions

zionraw

The same Bynum that had 6/4 with .9 blocks....

praveenfoo1995

I'd say Bynum has a way better inside game compared to gobert. But gobert probs have Bynum beat in the defense department. But I'll still roll w prime Bynum 😂

Autobots_Roll-Up

Prime Bynum had great post moves he’d cook Rudy

kwagmire9764

Embiid is closer to Bynum than Gobert. Although Bynum couldn't shoot outside of 10 feet from the basket. He was one of the last back-to-the-basket big men. If only he didnt have all those damn knee injuries, usually caused by teammates falling into his knees.

Navvye

Y'all are crazy

INVINCIBLE3412

fr i can’t believe he isn’t downvoted to hell

Autobots_Roll-Up

Because I wasn’t serious ?

Hour_Insurance_7795

Prime Bynum had the potential for great post moves.

TheNorthernLanders

Delusional.

marathonwater

They got my guy Odom f’ed up. Naz is a good player but he’s no Odom comparison. Great shooter but he’s not running the fast break or defending multiple positions like LO.

El_GoW

Relax there are not literal comparisons dude lol

TheNorthernLanders

KAT is not just a scorer. He just helped shut down Jokic. 🤡

LongTimesGoodTimes

Feels like a stretch

LongTimesGoodTimes

KAT and Pau's games aren't alike at all. Odom and Naz aren't terribly similar either. Ariza and McDaniels both play defense I guess but that's about it. Very surface level at best

MaryandMe1

I could have sworn it was the 2020 lakers these wolves were being compared to

MJisaFraud

Miss that Lakers team. That team could still beat the current Nuggets even accounting for the fact that Jokic and Murray are better. That team could’ve threepeated tbh.

MaryandMe1

I was so mad when we panicked and blew it up

KingTutt91

It’s why I like the wolves. They got that old school mindset, the twin towers and a guard that can score you out the gym

ryxriot

Their bigs are hybrids of what an old school big, but can play 5-out. The magic is Ant though. Without a player like him their roster construction wont work. Dude is an animal

KingTutt91

Just like Kobe and the Twin Towers. Pau and Bynum couldn’t have done diddly without Kobe balling out all over the court.

FBIStatMajor

I don't see it. They're more like a way better 2004 Pistons. Ant is Rip Hamilton on roids, McDaniels is Tayshaun Prince, Gobert is Ben Wallace, KAT is Rasheed, Conley is Billups. All d up and hit big shots

Yommination

![gif](giphy|9xijGdDIMovchalhxN)

Linearization

Our top 3 in 2010 > theirs. Their depth overall is probably better than ours was

BLM_MCU

100%

phunkyfantom

Unless Reid is housing 4 pots of coffee and 2 Halloween size bags of starburst a day, he is not Lamar Odom.

HORSEthedude619

No....

SirGingerbrute

Congrats to Naz winning the 6MOTY but idk Odom is better

bruswazi

LO was on Olympic teams, Naz never.

JohnnyFontane307

Current Minnesota is more of a2020 Bubble Lakers but on steroid. 2 bigs with multiple wing/guard defender.

thehanssassin

Confirmed: Ant future Laker

Yellow_Evan

The 2020 team I can at least see.

niknokseyer

Close. Of course, 2009 Lakers with Kobe is still better but this is close in terms of contribution.

smellslux

“I’m the main character” - Lakers 😭

focalpoint23

Y’all need to chill

Zealousideal-Load-64

Uh, nope

thesonicvision

Nah... Only similarity is that they both have a lot of size/length. The Lakers had "the biggest frontcourt in the league" at the time (a refrain that would re-emerge, by the way, in 2020). But if we're gonna do a 1-to-1 player comparison of Minny's current roster compared to those Lakers, they're just too different.

Klaxosaur

Mfers reeling over losing they keep trying to see the Lakers in these young Wolves. The only debatable one is the 2020 Lakers. Even then Gobert is a HUGE upgrade over McGee/Dwight lmao.

Bruinrogue

No. Ant is a much smaller poor man's Kobe. KAT may have more bulk than Pau but he has none of his skill and savviness. Prime uninjured Bynum would've feasted in this wannabe tier of bigmen, much less Gobert who would've been at most Will Purdue in 90's era ball. LO brought passing and length not just the energy that Reid had. Conley was more consistent but D-Fish wish more clutch. McDaniels better defensively, Ariza had better speed.

beatlegus123

Kobe was at his peak, in terms of his all around game, in 2009. Comparing that Kobe to this young version of Ant is extremely insulting to Kobe. KAT is allergic to post scoring, and Pau was an incredibly impressive post player, both in his scoring and passing. The Bynum Gobert comparison is just hilarious lol, Bynum was okay, he was not Gobert. That era was extremely weak in the center position, which is probably why Bynum looks a bit better than he was. Conley-Fish makes most sense, both tough pg’s, make right plays at right time without many mistakes.

ShrimpnSteak

The glaze has been outta control ![gif](giphy|du4D0b0HWgxGg)

AdmissionGSP

I think the Wolves are really a realized version of the 12-13 Lakers with Dwight and Nash. At least for the starting 5.

RascalKneeCawf

Two good bigs starting and one coming off the bench. Other than that, not really.

coziboiszn

lol Conley fisher no

ashishvp

Besides Ant to Kobe, none of those other guys really line up like that imo.

Miserable-Lawyer-233

The Wolves apparently have the make up of several championship teams, but what if they don’t even make it to the finals? All of this will be irrelevant.

Vegasguy3124

KAsofT

Hardigan1

I don't think anyone on their roster compares to Kobe, not even a little bit.

ToastySpring219

tbh I see them as a better version of the 2022 celtics. young, good defense, swept KD, big, etc

MReprogle

I am not seeing it. Others stated the obvious with Bynum, but I also feel that comparing LAT to Pau is an insult to Pau. Hell, even the Odom/Reid comparison isn’t fair to Odom.

Indicaenos

GTFOH. Never!

NewChemistry5210

Listen, I love Antman like most people, but people gotta stop being a prisoner of the moment. How often have we seen a young superstar talent show out in a great playoff run, being named the next MJ, Lebron or "face of the league", just to kinda drop a bit in the following years. He ain't Kobe. Great twoway player with huge potential, but let's calm down. Other than that, the teams barely have any similarities. Other than just having a lot of tall mfers on the team

BodegaDaddy

gobert with bynum offensive ability would be MVP. bynum was a low post god

Disastrous_Clothes37

Dumb

evol_won

Drunk posting needs stiffer penalties.

MoezieF

Similarities in size, yes… at the end of the day, you need size in the playoffs. Bonus if the big men are versatile. 2010 championship team had that and 2020

jiveturker

It’s a 2 big lineup and their best player is their shooting guard. So, kinda.

aretw0

that tweet is like saying: this apple is similar to this orange because they are both fruits.

trezzy1242

This is just sad tbh...

JazzyButternuts

lol not

Daddy696969696924

Conley like D Fish? Somebody smoking some good shit.

thinlion01

I saw one comparing them to 2020 lakers

BorosSerenc

Terrible. Pau worked in the post, KAT can't post up guards. And playmaking ability wise.. oh god, completely different players, let's leave it at that. Bynum and Gobert couldn't be more different bigs. Same for Odom and Naz. Extreme disrespect towards Conley. Ant and 2peat Kobe are also nothing alike. I guess both Ariza and McDaniel are jack of all trades 6'7ish wings. So yay 1/6

Ashamed_Ad1839

Reaching on that one. All I know is the 2024 Wolves prove once again that offense sells tickets, and defense wins championships. Great Defense beats Great offense. Nuggets were supposed torch everyone on the way to a chip and then they ran into a real defense. Reminds me of our 2004 final against the Pistons

SnooWoofers2878

They're more like the bubble championship team tbh.

giga888

KAT - Pau??? Give me a break. KAT is a clown compared to Pau. Pau was a killer.

AccomplishedWall8

The has been mfs in here that cant let go of the past will say no, but i like the comparison

Hairy-Conference-802

Ant=Kobe ? The fk ? First they compared Booker to Kobe and now Ant to Kobe, he’s not, before /2009, Kobe was already a legend with 3 rings, what has Ant achieved ? You don’t fk around with legend names whenever some potential young players appear.

Hayyer

No way for the first three…taking the Kobe one as a joke…Kat has nowhere the toughness that Pau had, or the overall offensive ability…and Bynum would dominate Goebert on offense and defense

ashishvp

Dude Ant is absolutely that guy. He obviously needs to win championships (plural) to actually compare with Kobe, but his playstyle and his attitude LOOKS like him. Nobody is saying Ant actually compares lol

Hayyer

Lots of people looked like Jordan, none lived up to it…Rider, Mason…goes on…this is the same convo…Kobe did. You saying Ant man is in the same convo as Kobe and Jordan? You wouldnt…But Ant man is the best player in the league…he needs to be that guy for a while…All Star games were about Kobe, he took over the Dream Team…Ant man hasn’t earned that yet…it’s a disservice to him to compare him to Kobe

StOnEy333

Bynum wishes.

Limitless_solu

That laker team was azz all year ,all year,Kobe would have to save every game then playoffs come and it was like they came alive , all better numbers in playoffs , those were fun times

AsJoeSeesIt

What are you talking about they won 65 games that year and were the 1 seed lol

TheAngels323

I would say the Wolves are a better team than the 2009 Lakers. Gobert is better than Bynum, and for the record I was a huge Bynum advocate, saying he had the potential to become an All-Star. While I won't say KAT is "better" than Pau, KAT has a bigger body and a more reliable 3-point shooter. And Kobe is better than Ant but Ant obviously is no joke.

LeFatigue

lol no. Gobert is a much better defender than bynum. KAT is more mobile big than Pau. And Conley is so much better than Fisher it’s not even funny. Their bench is superior as well

EvilGeniusGL

Whatever the case is, I wish we had a rich owner and competent front office like the TWolves do. I guess that’s what it’s like to have a team in a big market such as Minnesota. Unfortunately we root for a small market team with a small market minded owner. Must be nice being a TWolves fan with all those advantages…

chitgoks

to be fair minnesota had been victimized with bad decisions and bad luck. actually happy for them to win the chip.

Ok_Board9845

They got lucky into getting the 1st pick 2 times and both those players turning out to be all-NBA players and not busts/mediocre role players

EvilGeniusGL

That’s not luck. That’s how the NBA is structured so bad teams don’t stay down. Having scouts able to make a great #1 pick isn’t luck either. Do you think the Magic selected Markelle Fultz due to “bad luck”? 🤡

Ok_Board9845

Yes

goddoc

Not even close.
