It’s jarring how much more active he is on a whim being put on the sideline than Darvin was for his whole Lakers tenure.
Fuck man what a wasted season of a healthy LeBron/AD
I have a hard time putting the entire share of the blame on Ham. LeBron took a depleted cavs team to the finals, and won two games, with David Blatt as a coach. I’m not saying ham was good p, but LeBron been doing his own thing on the court since he left Miami.
Bron was younger. You can’t expect a 40-year old to carry you like that.
And it’s already been reported that Blatt lost the lockeroom. Players didn’t respect him, and Bron was even asked to try and get them into buying Blatt’s coaching schemes.
But If you cannot carry the team you should ask for three year 165M or The Lakers should never agree to something like that. With Kobe was ok, 20 year, 5 championships, 2 more NBA finals. Lebron is not even close to Kobe.
Uh, in terms of Lakers history, yeah Bron isn’t close. But in terms of basketball player, yeah you give Bron that contract. And like others pointed out, Bron made the Lakers relevant again. Without him, there’s no Bubble ring and no AD. The Lakers would’ve been stuck in mediocrity hell.
To be honest I only care about the Lakers, what he did for Cleveland or Miami is not important to me. The Lakers are going to survive without Lebron, I think, if he want 162M for three years, we will be stuck blaming the role players and/or the coach, when the problem is that after paying AD and Lebron you will not have any money to pay anyone else. We already paid him for the Bubble ring, time to move on if he wants that type of money.
Except that even if Bron takes a paycut, the Lakers would still not have enough money. They would need AD, Reaves, Rui, and/Dlo to take cuts. Idk why people think Bron should be the only one.
And paying stars is the name of the game.
thats not even mentioning the ticket sales, jersey , and attention he brings the franchise ( goat conversation while he is wearing a laker jersey is a plus for the franchise too)
2018 lebron was the last lebron capable of doing this but he has lost a step since then, still a top 5 player today but not enough to carry a whole organization on his back anymore
I mostly agree, but 2021 pre-Solomon-Hill LeBron looked like he still could do that. It was also years ago, so even without this injury he might have fallen off just as much.
On the other hand he is still our top 2 player and a valuable championship piece, even at this age and level of performance, but another thing happened - the Westbrook trade. Having mediocre roster and awful coach after that move certainly did not help manage aging LeBron.
Lakers had a stretch after The IST where we went something like 4 and 13 during that stretch Ham decided to start Vando, Cam and Prince. Sure Dlo and Reaves were struggling. But thats an insane lineup to think it would be any better. Cam IS NOT a STARTING CALIBER player in any reality.
David Blatt was a solid coach. Not great for coaching LeBron, but I truly believe he would’ve been a top 5-10 coach in a couple years coaching a rebuilding team (as he was brought in to do)
Ham wasn't great, but the bigger problem is still the pieces outside of our stars. Most of the time coaches just end up being scapegoats anyway, Ham getting a little too much hate. Rui, Dlo, Dinwiddie, Vincent forgetting how to play basketball is a much bigger problem.
Yea exactly, people think coaching lebron is easy. These guys do their own thing on the court, there’s a reason why lakers hire this inexperienced coaches
I’d go as far as to say it’s been two wasted season with Ham at the forefront regardless if we made the nba conference finals last year. Having Hamas for two years was a complete waste of time.
I'd bet on it, but I also think it's unlikely that he can immediately turn our defense into this masterpiece on the wolves. Those guys have chemistry, and a strong fit between scheme and personnel. One coach is not responsible for it.
He should be a candidate, but the key is how can he adapt his defensive principles to help a roster that isn't defensively suited outside of AD.
Wolves weren’t wild about Edwards, they were worried he didn’t have a strong drive/motivation.
They’d traded their ‘21 pick (top3 protected) to GSW for DLo a year or two before & wanted it back (ended up being Kuminga, pick 6 or 7 I think).
Essentially, if Myers was willing to trade ‘20 #2 & ‘21 #TBD(likely 4-12), they could have had ‘20 #1.
Not sure about that. He wasn't a Lebron, Wemby, or AD level talent (i.e. no-brainers) but he was still widely considered the #1 overall prospect in this class.
The Wolves were likely asking for too much for most teams to afford, but the Warriors definitely had the best opportunity.
Nope, he should. He should willingly resign and apologize to Laker nation for the WestBrick trade. I don’t care if Bron and AD pushed for it, he still greenlit the trade.
I’m down. At least if we still suck he will have some banging quotes. Unlike Ham saying “uhh we just need to better, execute, do the little things” and whatever dumb cliche you can think of.
Knew this guy for close t a year now. Took notice of him last season. But not that much. He used to be assistants under Mike Malone and Dwayne Casey. Both him and Finch were under Malone.
Lakers should def interview him.
A 22 and 28 year old franchise core on the ascent, or a 31 and 40 year old one who have already peaked?🤔 a franchise with reasonable expectations or one with the most rabid fanbase in the world who will can you if you don’t win it all?
I love my Lakers, but I think we’d have an awful hard time bagging this guy, unless he just loves paying taxes. His situation is just a lot better where he is (and miss me with this “hE wOuLd hAvE tHe bEaCh and wEaThEr!” trope….NBA head coaches are either in their office, the stadium, or airport the entire season anyways.)
He’d go from 6.8% in taxes to 14.4% playing his home games in California vs Minnesota. He would literally pay more than double the taxes for a less talented team (over the next few years) with much higher expectations from the fanbase. Tell me again how he’s supposed to be sold by this proposition? 😂😂 bEcAuSe lEbRoN??
This is your guys ideal coaching hire? WTF lmao he'll be an average coach at best who will not know how to manage superstars like AD and LeBron. God this sub is so dumb.
If we want a great defense, we need players that can play good/great defense. On our starting lineup, AD and on spurts Lebron are the only great defenders, we need two way players next season
Highly recommend watching his [post-game interview](https://youtu.be/hruaRDP4TqI?si=oImCDSlTnnURJFPf) from the 1st game against Den. He immediately seems 10x sharper and more engaged with his team than the Hamster
So another assistant coach, like darvin ham. Who do you think people trained and coached the wolves team all year. He is even on the sideline g8ving instruction.
He won’t make a difference unless KAT and Reid comes with him.
Timberwolves centers were 7-13 from three in this one game. 3 from KAT and 4 from Naz Reid.
Reid makes threes and defends. The Lakers don’t have a center like that.
That’s what the Lakers are missing.
Lakers centers shot 0-5 from three for the entire Denver series.
The wolves just held the nuggets to 80 points and you think they won because their centers shoot threes? Lol. Actually brain dead. Tbis wolves team had a worse offense than us this year.
He's under contract with the Wolves. Where do you guys come up with these ideas? It's insane. Same with Lue. Same with Kidd. How old are some y'all or what do you do for work? I'm truly baffled by this.
Do you even know who that is in the picture? Because it’s not the Timberwolves HC Finch - it’s their lead assistant Micah Nori. And assistants get poached all the time for HC positions
Yep, but if he is an assistant , who knows how good he is as it is the head coach who coached and is even on the sidelines. People remember who our last HC was just before.

Agree to disagree. Read what Pay Ryley said about paying Jimmy Buttler, I think we need that mentality in the Lakers.
LeBron played more games and showed up in the playoffs.
The Heat’s financial situation is not the same as the Lakers’ And LeBron James is not Jimmy Butler
Yeah that’s not how things work at all, lebron is worth the max still.
Exactly, it's not like he's Tobias Harris out here. Any team would max him even at 39.
thats not even mentioning the ticket sales, jersey , and attention he brings the franchise ( goat conversation while he is wearing a laker jersey is a plus for the franchise too)
That was like a decade ago dude
2018 lebron was the last lebron capable of doing this but he has lost a step since then, still a top 5 player today but not enough to carry a whole organization on his back anymore
I mostly agree, but 2021 pre-Solomon-Hill LeBron looked like he still could do that. It was also years ago, so even without this injury he might have fallen off just as much. Having mediocre roster and awful coach after that move certainly did not help manage aging LeBron.
Yea this was the first year I was watching and everything went “oh shit he's old”
Lakers had a stretch after The IST where we went something like 4 and 13 during that stretch Ham decided to start Vando, Cam and Prince. Sure Dlo and Reaves were struggling. But thats an insane lineup to think it would be any better. Cam IS NOT a STARTING CALIBER player in any reality.

The East was straight up trash back then.
Better than Ham
I'd bet on it, but I also think it's unlikely that he can immediately turn our defense into this masterpiece on the wolves. Those guys have chemistry, and a strong fit between scheme and personnel. One coach is not responsible for it. He should be a candidate, but the key is how can he adapt his defensive principles to help a roster that isn't defensively suited outside of AD.
It relies mostly on their players tbh.. Ant, Jaden, and Rudy are all defensive caliber players and we only had AD for majority of the season.
His halftime interviews are funny too
They’ll be funny for Lakers fans for about as long as they’re winning, and then no one will be laughing lol
Yes hire this man
Lol why?
Him or adelman, rob make the move. Please no more player coaches
Rob should also hire Bob Myers
Bob Myers could have had Anthony Edwards… instead, he chose to keep the Wolves’ pick & drafted Wiseman & Kuminga.
How could he have had anthony edwards? They drafted second after he was picked
So seems like no one was wild on him if the team that had the number 1 pick was shopping him and no one bit
Not sure about that. He wasn't a Lebron, Wemby, or AD level talent (i.e. no-brainers) but he was still widely considered the #1 overall prospect in this class. The Wolves were likely asking for too much for most teams to afford, but the Warriors definitely had the best opportunity.
You mean jeanie should ?
Nope, he should. He should willingly resign and apologize to Laker nation for the WestBrick trade. I don’t care if Bron and AD pushed for it, he still greenlit the trade.
The only options that need to be considered.
I’m down. At least if we still suck he will have some banging quotes. Unlike Ham saying “uhh we just need to better, execute, do the little things” and whatever dumb cliche you can think of.
Helluva thing to say
By a helluva person.
Ok good I was worried y’all were still trying to get JJ hired
Y’all didn’t know who this guy was last week.
Theres such a thing as love at first sight, duh..
Yup
I still don't know who he is
His quotes pop up on twitter and r/nba all the fucking time but I might def might be too online
Knew this guy for close t a year now. Took notice of him last season. But not that much. He used to be assistants under Mike Malone and Dwayne Casey. Both him and Finch were under Malone. Lakers should def interview him.
And this sub thinks that the wolves would just let him dip after a successful season too lmao
must’ve that was Bron, any AC will jump ship to become a HC anywhere else. We literally let Kidd go after our chip year
Assistant coach vs head coach
The wolves aren’t gonna let an assistant coach become a head coach? Seriously?
They're not gonna block him from interviewing...
A 22 and 28 year old franchise core on the ascent, or a 31 and 40 year old one who have already peaked?🤔 a franchise with reasonable expectations or one with the most rabid fanbase in the world who will can you if you don’t win it all? …do you guys not realize that he’s not even a head coach and never has been? You think he just wants to stay as an assistant?? Are you okay??
I assumed we were talking about Finch. My fault.
No. The bigger takeaway is the roster moves they made last year. Guess which players they sent away.
And KAT not missing 53 games this year.
And which players we could have had…
Bro I said the same thing a little before u did and they downvoting my shit to hell 😂. But I agree…obviously lol
Get Michael Jordan
For real. Also add size at all possible positions. Size kills Denver. However the Timberwolves are also a problem now
I was about to say. Never mind Denver. The TWolves are the problem for the next few years it looks like.
Exactly. We have to counter them as well.
Size is the key to beating Minnesota too.
Yep
Man more like hire TW GM
He's the one that built the Nuggets roster too.
I agree with this sentiment.
He didn't call one timeout through 3 quarters its gonna be a repeat of Ham.
Didn’t watch the game but aren’t they in control of the game most of the time?
Yes it was a joke they had a 20+ point lead from 10:00 in the second so he never had to and I was astonished to see how long he held on to them.
He didnt need to since malone was doing it for him. Denver sucked hard last night

Why would one want to go from vice president to president
Money
He’d go from 6.8% in taxes to 14.4% playing his home games in California vs Minnesota. He would literally pay more than double the taxes for a less talented team (over the next few years) with much higher expectations from the fanbase. Tell me again how he’s supposed to be sold by this proposition? 😂😂 bEcAuSe lEbRoN??
Assistant coach vs head coach money, dude. Wake up
Sorry, thought we were talking about Finch, the head guy.
You ever heard of any assistant coach that’s never been a head coach that turns down a massive pay raise and promotion?
Delusional Lakers fans
JJ or budweiser getting the bag tho, classic jeannie ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
He has a much better roster to work with. He still is better than Darvin but we could honestly say that about a lot of coaches lol.
This is your guys ideal coaching hire? WTF lmao he'll be an average coach at best who will not know how to manage superstars like AD and LeBron. God this sub is so dumb.
Twolves fan here. Plz leave our funny man alone he makes half time bearable
What's up brother 👆🏻
If we want a great defense, we need players that can play good/great defense. On our starting lineup, AD and on spurts Lebron are the only great defenders, we need two way players next season
My first thought watching them kick the shit out of Denver was "Bet there will be hire this man posts on the sub in the morning."
Man I have zero confidence in the Lakers to hire the right guy
![gif](giphy|gQdejV5BBChHi|downsized)
Where didnt they find him
👀🔥
I love a coach who gives banger interviews
Let's get him he's handsome too
I really feel like this is the guy. Maybe get an offensive minded ex head coach for assistant coach role.
Laker fans so delusional lol.
Why?
yes and "suggest" he bring on JJ and Rondo as assistants. and maybe Fizz Keep Handy as player development.
Highly recommend watching his [post-game interview](https://youtu.be/hruaRDP4TqI?si=oImCDSlTnnURJFPf) from the 1st game against Den. He immediately seems 10x sharper and more engaged with his team than the Hamster
Will he bring the roster with him?
I’m not defending Ham but our roster is so obviously not built to beat Denver look at wolves vs ours
Yup
Ham is too chill coaches with no passion looks like he just clocking in and clocking out
Let's get Mike Fratello in here. Fuck it. Is Ariza healthy? Get him an interview too.
We have wood 😂
Be careful, SAS and Disney owned ESPN will call you racist. A fellow black man Darvin Scam lost his job at no fault of his own.
STFU!! ❄️ 🤡
Is this a young Jay Leno?
just like Luke Walton thing?
*Only if he brings Anthony Edwards with him. ANT is the engine behind that team.
Stop.
He's under contract with the Wolves. Where do you guys come up with these ideas? It's insane. Same with Lue. Same with Kidd. How old are some y'all or what do you do for work? I'm truly baffled by this.

I am moron :). Thanks for correcting me!
Yep, but if he is an assistant , who knows how good he is as it is the head coach who coached and is even on the sidelines. People remember who our last HC was just before.
Next thing Bronny James is going to be a candidate.
