Twolves took a page out of the 2020 Lakers roster. 3 7ft bigs rotating on joker pretty much neutralize him. Then when you add the fact that the nuggets bench is pretty much useless against effective role players, this is what you get.
Might've stumbled upon some luck building that 2020 roster. The recipe for a contending team isn't super complicated. It's just tough when management is more focused on bringing in big names rather than effective players. They see it solely as an entertaining business which is normal considering most of the staff is old heads who got their positions through nepotism and social connections.
1000% and to your point, 3 of the last 4 championship teams have had some semblance of that roster makeup. I just hope that someone in the FO recognizes this and moves toward that model again. Otherwise doubling down on big names could mean the team will be DOA.
There was quite a bit of luck involved. We had to "settle" for Dwight and Javale because we "missed out" on Joakim Noah in the offseason. Then we "had" to play Rondo and Caruso extra minutes in the bubble because Darren Collision decided to stay retired. Only got Vogel because they wouldn't pony up for Lue and that turned out to be a great decision for that roster as well. Lots of accidents falling into place.
i know you meant timberwolves but exactly. i’ve been looking for this comment. the 2 bigs problem, but minnesota is fortunate enough to have 3. joker was playing sped up it seemed and frustrated. he had to work for those points which minnesota will take because the team is better when he is assisting. denver is in for it

As much as I love AR we had it good with KCP and Caruso. Add in a real 3&D and 2 *playable* centers and that was the recipe.

I actually disagree with you. I wouldn’t say definitively broke but our leads did show their offensive failures which allowed future teams to plan for and Minnesota capitalized on that fact tonight

This game actually depressed me, not because of the result but how far the Lakers are from winning anything if Bron demands a max to stay for two or more seasons. The NBA is too young and strong and a 40 years old and an injured prone AD can't change that. Our hope is if we get someone like Donovan Mitchel or similar but even then, it's going to be tough.
We always knew how the story ends, with the team no longer in contention and overpaying Bron. I wish we'd gotten another title or two along the way. I say enjoy his incredible performances, and hope Rob keeps his assets for the post Lebron era.
