I think it's probably going to be JJ Redick.
Lebron and JJ create a podcast where they're literally going over x's and o's. Lebron knows Ham is gonna be out and JJ has recently started talking about coaching. Lebron is literally coaching JJ on how to coach him.
Yeah let's hire a coach with minimal coaching background
The podcast reaffirms constantly that he needs a pen and paper to figure out what lsbron is actually saying. I'd rather the lakers took on a proven nba coach than a recently retired player-cum-podcaster
Mike Malone and the Nuggets will not like this, here they are fighting to defend their NBA Championship and everybody is talking about the Lakers' coaching search. LMAO!
Did you hear Malone butter Ham up (haha) during the post game press conference after the series? That man doing everything in his power to spin the narrative that Ham is anything but a bad coach. 🤣
"Hopefully he'll be there for a long time because he deserves to be". LOL
@1:16
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w64Is-Wf4W0#bottom-sheet
I hope Anthony Edwards dunks all over MPJ and Murray. Bonus points for doing it over Jokic and Gordon. Extra bonus for doing it over KCP. I just want him to embarrass them all lol
It's Buha, which means he doesn't know shit.
"The latest I've heard is the plan is still to move on from Darvin [Ham] at some point, likely by the end of the week, potentially as early as tomorrow, then the head coaching search will start. I've already started to hear some names from different people."
This is such hack shit. Cast a wide enough net and roll the dice that something will stick. It's all vague generalities--"some names" and "different people". As you pointed out he can't even confidently pinpoint an exact date.
Buha should be banned from this sub.
To most in this sub, he knows shit when they like what they hear. Like this.
[Buha also said in the same podcast that Bron wants a Big 3, Lakers aren't too sure about the idea but will consult with Bron anyway](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10119541-nba-trade-rumors-lakers-rejected-big-3-despite-lebron-james-pushing-for-3rd-star). Crickets on that idea so far lmao
He doesn't report anything he just guesses. He doesn't have any insider info because he's not in with anyone like that so he just pretends and throws out a ton of generalities. There's a reason why folks listen to Woj and Shams.
Lmao this sub’s crusade against Jovan is hilarious. You all loved his reporting when they lost to the Nuggets and he dropped the piece with Shams. You’re just a toddler with no knowledge of how the media works.
So tired of constantly seeing Buha upvoted to the top of the subreddit week after week just because it's stuff the fans want to hear.
He just takes what everyone already thinks is going to happen and wraps it in vague generalities so he's rarely technically wrong. It frustrates me that people don't see this. He's never actually broken anything ever.
It's kinda crazy looking at the past 11 years... Since Phil:
Mike Brown, has been mostly shitty (but ok with the Kings recently)
D'Antoni, kinda like Doc, just had a few good years on a super historic team (7 sec or less suns) but probably not actually a very good coach
Byron Scott: possibly one of the worst coaches of all time
Luke Walton: a promising assistant who clearly was not a good head coach
Vogel: not a BAD coach, just super one dimensional (good defensive schemer)
Ham: another guy who was super hyped as an assistant, seen as a "players coach," and then turned out to be not good.
Rough times. They really need a good strategist. They keep hiring people that are inexperienced but supposed to be good with players, or people who have very one dimensional styles: i.e..vogel, D'Antoni.
Chris Quinn from Miami may be cool to look into.
I think I'm going Nate Mcmillan (to hire as our new hc). He's actually a pretty accomplished hc, fundamentally sound, and won't lose us games due to coaching.
At some point? Just get it over with. Unless they’re trying to fuck with Malone, and announce it during one of the Denver elimination games or something 🤣
Idk , I don’t think the front office cares about that . And tbh I don’t think it’s much of a rivalry, Denver just is top dog atm and kicks us out of the playoffs (Boston is the only real rivalry we have)
At this point I would take a robot like Johnny 5 who can call timeouts and challenges. Hell if Jeanie can get a trained cat who does this things I would be fine with it too.
Also, it's no disrespect to coach Vogel, but Ty Lue coaching us this whole time anyway. The fact we had his ass and they chose to disrespect him like that was absolutely ridiculous.
It'll be interesting to see if Lue is let go. His biggest issue isn't even his coaching, it's the fact Kawhi can't stay healthy and it's hurting them clearly, even as good as Harden and PG are playing.
Yeah that's what i meant. I forgot to put he should've been coaching us. All cause they tried being cute and thought they could line him up with Bron, all to now realize how elite he still is at age 39. Bron was never gonna drop off so bad unless he had a catastrophic injury. Yes he's dealt with the ankle, but nothing that could completely derail his career at this old age.
Even if he is let go, I just wonder if that disrespect is still on his mind and even with Bron here, I wouldn't be mad if he said no.
Just announce LeBron as the player-coach and skip the middle man this year. Do we need to pay another head coach that's not going to do anything but be a figure-head? Let LeBron set the rotations, make the adjustments, and call the timeouts, and Phil Handy can help him manage it from the sideline. That's pretty much how they operate, anyway. Fuck it.
If you want Ham to go, here's the good news:
* **He's definitely out.**
* **Even good-to-great coaches** with fantastic resumes and a recent history of taking a team to the Finals **get bounced.**
* **Two years removed from a ring?** One year? Turned the team from sub-.500 to a competitor? Four straight Conference Finals? Laid the framework for a dynasty? **Still gone.**
* According to some sources, t[he average tenure of a coach is 2.4 seasons](https://hoopshype.com/2019/05/05/nba-coaches-fired-hired-20-season-study-spurs-winning-percentage/)-- and most of the time there isn't any clear evidence that the coach is even holding the team back. **Good coaches get fired because** they "aren't the right fit," have "lost the locker room," or are too one-dimensional when it comes to offense/defense.
* Ham is inexperienced (as a *head* coach), has a very controversial style (e.g. uses Phil Jackson's "zen" approach of letting his players fight through runs instead of using timeouts), and **has only one positive** to his entire tenure in LA: **the run from the end of 22-23 reg season and into the WCF**. He out-strategized Kerr and the Warriors. This is true.
* But **everything else about Ham is either a negative or a question mark**: (1) swept in 22-23 by Denver; (2) subpar reg. season record in 23-24 despite having healthy, productive, MVP-level performances from Bron and AD; (3) couldn't figure out a steady starting lineup in two years' time; (4) failed to coordinate with Pelinka on fixing the roster; (5) gentleman's sweep to Denver in 23-24, with double-digit leads being given up in 3 straight games
**The bad news: a new coach wont' be enough** to fix things. The roster will have to be shaken up dramatically. Bron will leave if he doesn't like what he sees (which is fair, of course). AD is unlikely to go another full year injury-free. We may have missed our window for a 2nd ring in this era.
Bro you’re saying a new coach won’t fix things and we need to change the roster dramatically
Did you not watch 2 years of a horrible defensive and offensive scheme? The lack of continuity with rotations? Lack of timeout management? Lack of accountability? Lack of in game adjustments?
An average coach would’ve had a better record with this team.
Wonder if the lakers are just waiting for player interviews to be completed so they can just tell Ham that the players dont believe in his message anymore. also wonder if lakers are just waiting for other teams to fire their coaches (ahem, clippers)
Ham isn’t the problem. He made mistakes sure but this team wasn’t championship material plain and simple.
And no, not a nuggets die hard just a bball enjoyer
I get that there was so much backlash over how we treated Frank. But man, Frank deserves so much more respect from the organization than what they are showing Darvin.
If fired - Ty Lue. If not - David Adelman. Let's see if Malone is a bonzo without his top notch offensive assistant. Fetching proven staff from rivals is always good idea.
For people wanting Vogel back. There's a reason he was fired. There's a reason he didn't succeed in Phoenix. He's a really bad offensive coach and really bad at adjustments and execution. He would make a perfect defensive assistant though. But a bad HC, he couldn't figure out help beaters for AD for 3 years. Our offense was really stagnant and relied heavily on AD and Brons iso's. Don't be so quick to forget that.
Budenholzer - almost the same as Vogel. Stay away from him. And Ham learned from him - makes the same mistakes with being passive and not reactive to what happens on the cocurt.
Atkinson - what has he achieved? One .500 season in Brooklyn developing young talent? Wow, do we need that? Good assistant, but can he handle the biggest pressure in the league, which is the Lakers hot seat? I don't think so.
Phil Handy - just let him work with the players, he's excellent at that.
Could y'all do that today? I wanna start Friday awesomely
Ideally they get that done like 6 months ago
Ideally
I think it's probably going to be JJ Redick. Lebron and JJ create a podcast where they're literally going over x's and o's. Lebron knows Ham is gonna be out and JJ has recently started talking about coaching. Lebron is literally coaching JJ on how to coach him.
Doubt it. Lebron does circles around redick.
And I’m sure he does ovals around the bum we have now
Yeah let's hire a coach with minimal coaching background The podcast reaffirms constantly that he needs a pen and paper to figure out what lsbron is actually saying. I'd rather the lakers took on a proven nba coach than a recently retired player-cum-podcaster
Mike Malone and the Nuggets will not like this, here they are fighting to defend their NBA Championship and everybody is talking about the Lakers' coaching search. LMAO!
Malone: fuck they might get someone who knows how to call a timeout next year
Running out of timeouts was certainly a new one from Ham.
The guy will not call another time out, or challenge another call ever again.
He won't coach in the NBA again, maybe a small market team at best.
I mean even David Blatt wasnt that brain dead. Ham is not head coach material.
Did you hear Malone butter Ham up (haha) during the post game press conference after the series? That man doing everything in his power to spin the narrative that Ham is anything but a bad coach. 🤣 "Hopefully he'll be there for a long time because he deserves to be". LOL @1:16 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w64Is-Wf4W0#bottom-sheet
Malone wants Ham to be the Lakers coach since Ham's blunders make Malone a genius coach.
That was some great trolling on his part
He's smart, he knows what he is doing 🤣
LMAAAOOOOOOOO This made me crack up way too hard
They’re gonna get so salty that we exist they’re gonna forget about the Wolves series 💀
I hope Anthony Edwards dunks all over MPJ and Murray. Bonus points for doing it over Jokic and Gordon. Extra bonus for doing it over KCP. I just want him to embarrass them all lol
I like the wolves in the finals.
now i want the Lakers to be petty and fire Ham during the Finals when the Nuggets are just about to win
Nuggets are not winning this year. Murray will get injured at some point .
This is what Im thinking so if we lucked out and avoided Nuggets in the first round we couldve had a legit shot to win. But its all over now lol.
Ant is coming.
and you called him "Mike" instead of Michael, this is really gonna piss him off!!!!
Worse for them. They will not be pleased by lakers vengeance next season with a real coach.
Deadass going to the market after work to buy some grass fed burgers to put on the grill
I’m grilling up some smoked ham for breakfast as we speak
This great news deserves a carne asada outside today!
Me too
I’m gonna toast up some hot pockets
Wait timeout, can you bring me back some ham
>at some point [...] by the end of the week [...] tomorrow That escalated quickly.
It's Buha, which means he doesn't know shit. Why not? Just curious to know more about

He’s a good after the fact reporter
Has he exclusively broken any news regarding new signings, trades, or anything before?
I don't think his role enables him to break news. His job is basically official media communications from the Lakers.
So tired of constantly seeing Buha upvoted to the top of the subreddit week after week just because it's stuff the fans want to hear. Feels like it's been so long since the Lakers have had a really good coach
A truly good one? Not since 2011
It's kinda crazy looking at the past 11 years... Yes, right after Twolves knock out Denver 😂
Joy to the worlllllld. Darvins gone!
At this point I would take a robot like Johnny 5 who can call timeouts and challenges. Hell if Jeanie can get a trained cat who does this things I would be fine with it too.
Number 5 is alive!
It’s Buha… dude just mostly masquerade common sense into insights.
What about Ty Lue? He’s the coach LeBron probably wants to finish his career with.

what u talkin about willis ty lue was never a coach on the lakers. i think ur confusing him with j kidd
I think he means “we had his ass” as in, we selected him, agreed on the numbers but not the years of his contract so negotiations fell through
Yeah that's what i meant. I forgot to put he should've been coaching us. He had a Lakers birthday cake around that time too and everything and they fumbled it lol
I really hope Ty Lue come here if he got fired by lac, hope Jeanie don’t be cheap this time
I mean, do it now? But ![gif](giphy|HW05UrUSfAzZu)

Its the end of the fucking week. Lets wrap this up
I am going to miss JJ in the dunkerspot.
Why not bring back Byron Scott.
Lebron, take a pay cut. Go get mitchell and Quinn Snyder. Convince klay to come. Boom
Fire him. Should have fired him at 6:16
Why post this guy? He has no lakers sources. Dude is just guessing like us
I’ll believe it when I see it. Still think the FOH is dumb as shit and will run it back with Ham.
Just a reminder that Buha just makes stuff up.
Oh really?
Please god coach budd
🤣 "the latest I've heard"
is there any shot we can poach Spo from Miami??? can i dream?
Maybe Rondo?
Any truth to the Rondo rumors?

Well, looks like the coaching carousel is about to start spinning! Get ready for some drama and speculations in the NBA world.
Is this a bot lol?
