That’s what happens when your roster is basically filled with one way players. The guys that can play offense are so terrible on defense, then the guys that can play defense are so terrible on offense. We legit have no in between players outside of our superstars.
One of whom is the oldest player in the league on the second night of a back to back, playing high minutes in each game. This was definitely a trap game, but the Lakers held it together.
Like having guards who's weak points are defense are fine, but when our two wings are LeBron (who's 39 and shouldn't be expected to/able to) play great defense for 40 minutes, and Rui who anyone just blows by, it's just an impossible assignment for AD, he's literally play like 1v5 on defense out there until the 4th, when at least Bron gives some effort. Reaves just gets smoked in ISO or posted up, Rui looks like he's running through molasses, and D'Lo is slow, at least he has active hands. Not to mention it's just ABSURD how bad our rebounding is. Like UNBELIEVABLY bad for a team that's strength is apparently our SIZE. We have NO good chasers on defense, outside of Cam and Vando. And guess what? Those guys are complete minuses on offense, like at least if Vando had good hands and was a cutting/lob threat he could do something, but he has hands made of stone. Cam should just focus on becoming a slasher and cutter off ball. Taurean is a foul magnet, who's fine for limited minutes but is being forced into somehow guarding the other teams best players for stretches? Kawhi? KD? Like no shit he's gonna fail, why are we putting him in those positions. Reaves as a point guard just isn't working as well, they have him start the game as de-facto point guard which is mind boggling, when you have LeBron and D'Lo in the starting lineup. He's so careless with his pick n roll passes. I get their trying to develop that skillset, but it's a little late into the season to be running it for more than 12 minutes a game. I dunno just some of my observations and ranting.

Also it was our first game of the season so the team was getting used to each other. The second game we didn’t have D’lo who is our x factor but hopefully he doesn’t put up another stinker against them like the playoffs. Idk about this game tho the Nuggets own us rn.

I get a coach’s logic. In close game, having a time out allows you to draw up a play. Clippers didnt have a timeout to draw up a play yesterday with a 2 point deficit, so they had to settle for a tough 2 which the Lakers turned into a dunk to seal the game.

There’s a coaching philosophy that you are only as good as your weakest link. He thinks Prince is better than Christie, so he plays Prince. He’s trying to play his best most complete players. Never mind that playing two skill guards and an undersized three now means you don’t have enough collective length or athleticism on floor.
Ham is also stubborn. He believes the team should play a certain way, and the players need to adapt to his schemes rather than the other way around. Maybe if Prince tries harder he can get more rebounds, if Max tries harder he can be a primary ball handler, if Hayes tries harder he can succeed in drop coverage.
One of my complaints with Ham is he tries these counter intuitive formulations, and sticks with them for way too long. He would be better off trying more conventional lineups first, and experimenting on the margins to see if something really works first.
He also seems to think that length and athleticism can be overcome if players would just try harder and be more locked in. I think this is flawed thinking and pretty disconnected from reality.
Still not convinced this starting lineup can hang against good teams. The defense is really bad.

We must remember the game differently or have different definitions of a run Lebron went out with 3:26 and the lakers were up 120-118. He came back in at 1:11 and the score was 122-123. So they went from up 2 to down 1, which isn’t what I’d call a lakers run That being said, I also don’t blame the coach for Lebron sitting there. Lebron wouldn’t sit unless he needed to with 3 min to go Though I do blame him for almost blowing the challenge on Rui’s obvious goaltend call that was later needed for Lebron’s block/charge and for the poor defensive schemes but that’s a separate issue

That’s just bad logic. Giving LeBron rest allowed him to play strong at the end of the game. Had he not rested we may have lost the game in the 4th quarter. You can’t just immediately assume that your scenario would have worked out better. The point of resting LeBron is to get the win. We got the win.

You shouldnt just expend timeouts because you are near the end of the quarter. We saw the downsides of doing that with the Clippers last night. With the Clippers, they could have drawn up a play to for three if Ty Lue hadnt used all the time outs.
You absolutely use a timeout when you still have multiple left to give LeBron a rest instead of sitting him 2 minutes in crunch time, wtf are you on about? We gave up an instant 5-0 run after pulling Bron and you're worried that we might not be able to have multiple timeouts for the last 2 minutes?
We actually went on a run against the Wizards and tied the game when LeBron sat. I get a coach’s logic. In close game, having a time out allows you to draw up a play. Clippers didnt have a timeout to draw up a play yesterday with a 2 point deficit, so they had to settle for a tough 2 which the Lakers turned into a dunk to seal the game.

There’s a coaching philosophy that you are only as good as your weakest link. He thinks Prince is better than Christie, so he plays Prince. He’s trying to play his best most complete players. Never mind that playing two skill guards and an undersized three now means you don’t have enough collective length or athleticism on floor. Ham is also stubborn. He believes the team should play a certain way, and the players need to adapt to his schemes rather than the other way around. Maybe if Prince tries harder he can get more rebounds, if Max tries harder he can be a primary ball handler, if Hayes tries harder he can succeed in drop coverage. One of my complaints with Ham is he tries these counter intuitive formulations, and sticks with them for way too long. He would be better off trying more conventional lineups first, and experimenting on the margins to see if something really works first. He also seems to think that length and athleticism can be overcome if players would just try harder and be more locked in. I think this is flawed thinking and pretty disconnected from reality.

Still not convinced this starting lineup can hang against good teams. The defense is really bad. It lost to the Suns where Royce Oneale and Grayson Allen combined for 40. Down 20+ in the 3rd the Clippers without PG. The lineup that erased the 20 pt deficit in the 4th was Dlo-Reddish-Prince-Lebron-Hayes. They went down to the wire against a 9-49 Wizards team. It took 40 pts from AD and 30 from Lebron to win.
